The waitress didn't seem very happy, she wasn't mean just very interested in just serving and that's it. Not much personality. Make a reservation in advance on open table. The waterfront tables on the beach are hard to come by, even if you do make one. We made one in advance, said we flew in from NY to celebrate our anniversary, and still couldn't get one sadly. The trees also partially obstruct the sunset though the views are still decent. There was live music but it was pretty bad. Ambiance wasn't as nice as I had hoped based on the reviews. As for food, loved the hot blue crab dip with fried wonton and the key lime pie. The key lime seafood was also pretty good as was the Hahn Pinot. Otherwise not a particularly great or extensive wine menu. My fiancé was terribly disappointed in the cheeseburger, sadly, but I enjoyed his fries. Hands down one of the best meals I've had on our trip so far. Not only is the location excellent, make sure you make a reservation during the sunset hours, as the view is spectacular...but their service & food is excellent. My husband & I came here on our 3rd night of our BabyMoon/ birthday celebration & it did not disappoint. We started with the crab dip that is served with Wontons...yes please!!! I am being kind because they are still at a soft opening. We wanted appetizers that were on the menu, but they did not have. We wanted the hush puppies and rock fish tempura. The explanation was that they were getting feedback and they were no longer on the menu: I can appreciate that they are removing items as they get feedback, but they should say what they don't have before you start getting excited about the food. We all ordered the snapper fish sandwich and it was delicious. I ordered mine blackened . It was fresh and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was good, the service is great. The draft beer machine was not working , so they only had bottled beer. I will go back, but not until the temps go down. It was Africa hot outside. If possible/ fans would have been great. First off we used to love this restaurant and it has slowly been declining. Our last visit was the last straw. We made a reservation for 8 pm. We were seated at 8:10 and waited. We waited around 10 minutes with no server. We found the hostess and had to ask for our server. She finally arrived around 8:20. We ordered appetizers and again she disappeared. We had to go look for her to order dinner. Dinner took forever to come out. Place closes at 9 and our food was still no where to be found. When it did come we ate quickly so we could get out of the way of all the staff cleaning but we could not find our server. We got up and looked for her various times and could not find her. When we finally found her she was super rude and said sorry I was cleaning. Horrible experience. And the food was gross too. Will not be back. read more

Place has small portions, mid food, steak was overcooked for 50$ forgot steak knives and had to eat it with a butter knife, took 30 minutes for butter to come but the lobster was already cold. Drinks however were very slow, watered down and very sugary. Ordered a skinny margarita and Mojito and both tasted like syrup. Very sugary and no booze. Gorgeous scenery and great for tourist and family with kids. They need more staff to keep up with their volume and the size of the restaurant. Staff is running from one end to the other so can not properly attend to their tables. If they can figure out their bartender and add more staff then I would have given 5 stars. read more

The service was absolutely horrible. We waited forever to get an order in, and when we did, the main course was on top of the salad the portion was anything but generous the fish was so small. I can't believe that they could charge such an exorbitant amount of money. The vegetable medley that it came with was just OK. The rice was sticky. The Caesar salad was just lettuce I didn't taste any dressing and when I asked for another one, they brought me extra dressing, which was pathetic for an eight dollar up charge. I make better myself you needed a magnifying glass to see any shaved Parmesan. You certainly couldn't taste any. The piña colada was awesome, but it would've been a lot cheaper to just sit at the bar and perhaps order chicken wings I don't think they could ruin those but oh well maybe they can. I've gotten bigger shrimp and all you could eat Chinese bar you got five shrimp for $22 at least when I go to capital Grille I get a shrimp. The sushi was just mediocre and I've had better mahi at Flanigan's. Yes the view was good. Save your money and just have a drink at the bar. If you're looking for a really good dinner go to lazy days. Also, you should skip the dessert especially the rice pudding. Amazing food - did a walk in and although they didn't have a table for 20 minutes the bar at the back is first come seating, we enjoyed a drink there before our table was ready. The location and new bar is beautiful, wonderful spot on the water with live music. It did start to rain but staff was prompt at moving everyone under the covered tiki and also ensured none of the food got wet even though they were soaked themselves - excellent service with really nice staff! The best part was the food the curry was amazing- excellent flavour and the fish sandwich was also very good perfectly fried fish. Just Wow... We came down here for dinner and and to watch the sunset. We ended up at a table only 10 feet from the waters edge. The sunset was great but the food and service was even better. Our waitress, Sabby, was absolutely fabulous. She is wonderful, friendly, and just a great person. The place was busy and it took a while to get drinks but the quality of the food more than made up for it. One of my guilty pleasures are homemade patio chips and I would strongly recommend them. For the entree we had the Hogfish and it tasted great. By the time that the Key Lime Pie came out I was too full to give it a full review but every one else loved it. I came here for my 21st birthday and I enjoyed the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was really gloomy the day I went, but the view was beautiful nonetheless. My only issue was that there were a lot of food items that were not available. I get not everything is in season, but we were informed by that the time we got there they didn't have any more of it because they served it all before we came. We came at 12 in the afternoon, I just find it weird how a lot of the food and drink items were not available at 12 when you would imagine that would be prime time (keep in mind it was not insanely busy either) Bonus points for online menu!!! read more

Lobster bisque was slightly warm and considering the distance from the kitchen I'm surprised it didn't get to my table cold. Our waitress though was great. I had the key lime seafood and mixed it with the zucchini noodles because the sauces call for it or maybe even over rice noodles but definitely not the cilantro rice that was offered with it. I've eaten here twice, and both times were spectacular. The food is very consistent, but what I come for is the view, the service, and the amazing key lime pie. Getting a seat on the beach is the best! From this trip, I really loved our server, Angel. He was so sweet and soft-spoken, conplimented my nails, and helped us out of our table when rain was predicted to fall. We also got recommendations from the bartender (also from Michigan!) as well on what to do with our extra day in the keys. I've been going to Mile Marker 88 for many years now and was excited for the relaunch/expansion of the restaurant. But unfortunately I was disappointed. Although the new venue is gorgeous I wish I can say the same about the food. Our bill which was a party of three came to $410. You'd think we'd had an extravagant meal along with a bottle of wine. We ordered the "Grand Poobah" seafood tower and it didn't meet the expectations of the ridiculous price of $135. It came with 6 very small oysters, this was covered up by it being doused in mignonette. I know I'm not the only one that like putting in their mignonette themselves. 6 shrimps which were good, I'll admit. A lobster tail, couple pieces of ceviche and snow crab. I just don't think that's enough food. A great seafood tower I can recommend is at the City Oyster house in Delray it's $100 and it comes with king crab. Dinner was unimpressive for most of us, I ordered the Snapper Curry and I will say I got my moneys worth, although the roti was extra believe it or not. It was a lot of food and was delicious. My mother ordered the Burger and that was an insult. A burger with no lettuce, no tomato, no pickle, and FOUR, I REPEAT FOUR, potato chips on the side! What is that man?! My father wanted the fish tacos and they said they were out, mind you it was a Saturday night at 7:00. Anyways he went with the steak fajitas, it didn't come in sizzling and looked very underwhelming. Overall, I don't think I will be going back, it's sad as Marker 88 was my favorite restaurant. This new facelift was not needed. For those who know about restaurant in south Florida, it's as if David Grutman opened a restaurant in the keys. This is what happens when investors own a restaurant. The pros: The view is INCREDIBLE. You can eat right on the beach, and there is live country music. It was beautiful. The cons: Unfortunately the food was very expensive and underwhelming. We come to the Keys every year and Marker 88 is always a must stop. However, this year we were very disappointed in our meals. My blackened Hogfish lacked flavor, the additional side of broccolini was inedible as it was tough and rubbery And the normally delicious cilantro rice was less than to be desired. We ordered a medium NY strip and it came out rare-med rare and my son had to return it to be prepared correctly and the price was absolutely insane. The server was apologetic and kind but unfortunately the expense of the meal just wasn't worth it this time. The renovation is lovely and the view is stunning but the service, quality, and price just won't keep us returning. (And unfortunately, we learned from some locals the next day that this has been the opinion in the area for some time!) Such a bummer. read more

While staying down in key largo doing this place on the side of the road be prepared to get there early as it gets crowded really early on there is a live band and most of the tables are right on the water we were asked if we had a reservations seems like they take reservations so if you are overnighting I would absolutely recommend a reservation I guess if you are there early enough there is no need for one we ordered a burger and Mac and cheese also a blacked mahi sandwich it was a bummer that for a keys restaurant they did not have any oysters the menu was not huge so not many options even though the place was really great location and vibe and the drinks were on point the food was very much bar like food. read more

I'm so confused about how this place is fully booked at all times. I stopped here on my way back from Key West and it wasn't worth it. The hostess said that they were not taking walk-ins and that they had no reservations. We were able to sit at the bar, which as anyone could expect, was very busy. I should mention that literally half the restaurant was empty. It took too long to get a drink so we ordered two sodas that were watered down and never refilled. The tuna nachos were probably the best thing. The captains platter which is a lobster tail, 2 shrimp, and Mahi mahi didn't taste like anything. I had the blackened mahi sandwich and it wasn't great. Overall, this place kinda sucks. The service was ok. There's so many other places to go between here and key west, so don't waste your time here. read more

It was date night and on our way to seafood buffet gluttony my BF wanted to stop and get a drink. Low and behold MM 88 was right in front of us. We pulled over to a small parking area and checked the scene. MM88 has been around for a hot minute but this was my first time. They have a restaurant on a deck overlooking the beautiful ocean and a bar making strong delicious drinks. The beach area although small is open to the public for a $5 a head charge. Hey and remember no outside drinks, food, or chairs allowed. All can be purchased for an additional fee. Although we already had dinner plans we did look at the menu while sitting at the bar. Menu looks real good with all their seafood and non seafood options. Definitely need to come back and check it out! Now I love a good bloody mary but I have to give a shout out to the bartender who got it perfect the first time! When I order a bloody mary I always say spicy but most never get it right but not her(sorry didn't catch her name) I ordered and she complied with I think the BEST I've ever had and that's a big statement. It was so good I drink it as fast as water. And she did not go cheap on the poor. It was delish and the juicy 3 olives that came with were an extra treat! This place is perfect for eats, drinks, and to catch a tan and a nice dip in the water. Highly recommended for all, especially the little ones.
