Amazing food - did a walk in and although they didn't have a table for 20 minutes the bar at the back is first come seating, we enjoyed a drink there before our table was ready. The location and new bar is beautiful, wonderful spot on the water with live music. It did start to rain but staff was prompt at moving everyone under the covered tiki and also ensured none of the food got wet even though they were soaked themselves - excellent service with really nice staff! The best part was the food the curry was amazing- excellent flavour and the fish sandwich was also very good perfectly fried fish. While staying down in key largo doing this place on the side of the road be prepared to get there early as it gets crowded really early on there is a live band and most of the tables are right on the water we were asked if we had a reservations seems like they take reservations so if you are overnighting I would absolutely recommend a reservation I guess if you are there early enough there is no need for one we ordered a burger and Mac and cheese also a blacked mahi sandwich it was a bummer that for a keys restaurant they did not have any oysters the menu was not huge so not many options even though the place was really great location and vibe and the drinks were on point the food was very much bar like food. read more

I'm so confused about how this place is fully booked at all times. I stopped here on my way back from Key West and it wasn't worth it. The hostess said that they were not taking walk-ins and that they had no reservations. We were able to sit at the bar, which as anyone could expect, was very busy. I should mention that literally half the restaurant was empty. It took too long to get a drink so we ordered two sodas that were watered down and never refilled. The tuna nachos were probably the best thing. The captains platter which is a lobster tail, 2 shrimp, and Mahi mahi didn't taste like anything. I had the blackened mahi sandwich and it wasn't great. Great spot, I sat at the table closest to the water and enjoyed a cold beer and fries as I watched the sunset. My complaints would be that the menu wasn't the same as the one I saw online when I looked for a casual place for dinner, this was a more fine dining place than I expected but none the less they were willing to serve me a beer and friends. The service was a bit slow, I wanted to order another round of drinks but unfortunately my waitress never came around so I wasn't able to and by the time she did I was ready to leave because I was over waiting. It was date night and on our way to seafood buffet gluttony my BF wanted to stop and get a drink. Low and behold MM 88 was right in front of us. We pulled over to a small parking area and checked the scene. MM88 has been around for a hot minute but this was my first time. They have a restaurant on a deck overlooking the beautiful ocean and a bar making strong delicious drinks. The beach area although small is open to the public for a $5 a head charge. Hey and remember no outside drinks, food, or chairs allowed. All can be purchased for an additional fee. Although we already had dinner plans we did look at the menu while sitting at the bar. Menu looks real good with all their seafood and non seafood options. Definitely need to come back and check it out! Now I love a good bloody mary but I have to give a shout out to the bartender who got it perfect the first time! When I order a bloody mary I always say spicy but most never get it right but not her(sorry didn't catch her name) I ordered and she complied with I think the BEST I've ever had and that's a big statement. It was so good I drink it as fast as water. And she did not go cheap on the poor. It was delish and the juicy 3 olives that came with were an extra treat! This place is perfect for eats, drinks, and to catch a tan and a nice dip in the water. Highly recommended for all, especially the little ones. Went out for Father's Day to Marker 88. Environment was good. Nice view of the ocean. I'm giving four stars because the hostess advised it would be a 20-minute wait. After 25 minutes, we checked with hostess on our table and then they proceeded to seat us. Could have been coincidence, but thought I would point it out. We ordered calamari as appetizers. Marker 88 was my favorite place to eat in the Keys! The outdoor area is awesome and you can sit just feet from the ocean. I haven't sat this close to the ocean while eating since dining in Europe! The view is stunning. The food was very good, maybe a 4/5, and I'd say the same for the drinks. This place is all about the atmosphere -- we went twice on our trip because it was that spectacular! Service was wonderful, easy in and out parking, and an all-around great time. They also had my favorite key lime pie in all of the Keys! Something about the crust -- it was sweet. This restaurant was recently fully renovated and they did such a great job! We went on a Sunday afternoon and arrived by boat. They had live music. Great for families with kids to enjoy a beautiful bayside view. Kids can play in the sand so taking sand toys would be a great idea. First and foremost, the view is worth the trip. There is a lot of seating outside, so with Covid concerns, that's great. What isn't so great is that they allow smoking at those tables. The two people at the table next to us were tag-team smoking. As a non-smoker, it was annoying. The breeze blew the smoke right at us. The food was good. I had the fried calamari as an entrée, and it was was spot on. I prefer cocktail sauce, and they don't always have it (interesting as they serve shrimp!). But the chili saice they drizzled on it was very good. I also had a bowl of lobster chowder. It was very tasty, and it would have been perfect had there not been a hair in it. The waiter replaced it right away, but once you see that, it's hard to forget. My wife had a burger, and while she ordered it medium rare, it was well done. But it was ok. The service was quite good. The waiter brought drink refills without us having to ask. The food came out pretty quickly. And while we waited for the food, we were treated to some good music from Micah Gardner. He is there every Thursday and Friday. All in all, the restaurant is ok. It's not the best food we've eaten, but the view is spectacular. read more

We finally just sat and after another 5 mins we were took we could not sit we needed to find the hostess. Still no where to be seen. Took a drive down to keys for the day and looking for a nice place with a view and good food . Came here due to a friends recommendation. They visit the keys regularly. Well let me start by saying it is such a quaint area with a beautiful view . They have tables set up along the shore with rocking tables as well. We were told it would be a 45 min wait but we were sat pretty quickly. Everyone was so pleasant - the hostesses, the bar staff and our waitress. Now to the food.. OMG , just what we were hoping for, Deliciousness!!! All of our dishes were yummy. The hog fish was light and flavorful. The key lime seafood had a little kick to it but not too much and had lobster, shrimp and crab, so good. My friend got the scallop special and ate every last bite. First off we used to love this restaurant and it has slowly been declining. Our last visit was the last straw. We made a reservation for 8 pm. We were seated at 8:10 and waited. We waited around 10 minutes with no server. We found the hostess and had to ask for our server. She finally arrived around 8:20. We ordered appetizers and again she disappeared. We had to go look for her to order dinner. Dinner took forever to come out. Place closes at 9 and our food was still no where to be found. When it did come we ate quickly so we could get out of the way of all the staff cleaning but we could not find our server. We got up and looked for her various times and could not find her. When we finally found her she was super rude and said sorry I was cleaning. Horrible experience. And the food was gross too. Will not be back. read more

After visiting the Theater of the Sea we were looking for a beachside restaurant and found just that. Our table was in the sand and 6 feet from the water. Big trees right over our heads provided cool shade. There a lot of different sitting areas including your regular restaurant and bar type if you don't want to get your feet sandy. In the evening they had live music and of course front row seats to an amazing sunset. And yes, they have food and drinks too. Food and service was fabulous. read more

I love this typical Keys on the water restaurant and bar. Spacious, clean, and a beautiful place to spend a nice afternoon or watch the sunset. We weren't able to sit on the beach but the view was awesome form the dining are just as well. What an amazing menu! So much to choose from! I had the Islamorada fish sandwich and chose to not have the cheddar cheese. Something about grilled Mahi and melted cheese just doesn't appeal to me. It was a great choice. The Mahi was perfect. We come to the Keys every year and Marker 88 is always a must stop. However, this year we were very disappointed in our meals. My blackened Hogfish lacked flavor, the additional side of broccolini was inedible as it was tough and rubbery And the normally delicious cilantro rice was less than to be desired. We ordered a medium NY strip and it came out rare-med rare and my son had to return it to be prepared correctly and the price was absolutely insane. The server was apologetic and kind but unfortunately the expense of the meal just wasn't worth it this time. The renovation is lovely and the view is stunning but the service, quality, and price just won't keep us returning. (And unfortunately, we learned from some locals the next day that this has been the opinion in the area for some time!) Such a bummer. read more

I have had such bizarre experiences here. For starters, I took my husband here for his actual 40th birthday (Aug '22). We were on the hunt for some local pies and drove down (from Ft. Lauderdale) for the day. We arrived for some lunch right as they opened. We first sat inside at the bar, and the entire staff (like 7 people) completely ignored us. For a good bit. Many phones were out and we were clearly earlier than they were ready. We opted to go sit outside since the inside reeked of cleaning fluid. We reseated ourselves outside and our waiter approached to give us the specials menu. We ordered greyhounds to cheers and we offered our selections for food. His response was "oh we are out of that" to the first 3 items we had selected. My husband replied, "well why don't you tell us what you do have, and we can pick from there". The waiter's response was "I will have to see what is available. The chef isn't even here yet...." (sigh, while I ponder then who is actually making the food being served at other tables?) At that point, we realized the error in our way by not leaving when first ignored. We sipped our vodka/grapefruit (fresh squeezed, will give them that) and promptly asked for the bill. Now, today (Nov '22), against my better judgment, I tried to make a reservation for our family who stays in the keys each Thanksgiving. Party of 9. The restaurant requires a $200 NON-refundable deposit to hold the table. Now, I understand the idea behind a deposit, but a completely non-refundable one- even with proper notice? I asked about this policy and was told that if I had to cancel (given it was within 24 hours) they would save the $200 and apply it to a future reservation or gift card to marker 88. Nope. Travel right now is nuts and unpredictable. I will not risk $200 for a reservation to a vacation spot. Sorry. Too many other places to eat around there. It's just sloppy, poorly managed, service. I can't even rate their food because on both attempts to be their customer my experience ended before food was in play. My other reviews will tell you that I rarely rate someplace a bust but this place is a solid NO for me. Just odd. read more

I've been going to Mile Marker 88 for many years now and was excited for the relaunch/expansion of the restaurant. But unfortunately I was disappointed. Although the new venue is gorgeous I wish I can say the same about the food. Our bill which was a party of three came to $410. You'd think we'd had an extravagant meal along with a bottle of wine. We ordered the "Grand Poobah" seafood tower and it didn't meet the expectations of the ridiculous price of $135. It came with 6 very small oysters, this was covered up by it being doused in mignonette. I know I'm not the only one that like putting in their mignonette themselves. 6 shrimps which were good, I'll admit. A lobster tail, couple pieces of ceviche and snow crab. I just don't think that's enough food. A great seafood tower I can recommend is at the City Oyster house in Delray it's $100 and it comes with king crab. Dinner was unimpressive for most of us, I ordered the Snapper Curry and I will say I got my moneys worth, although the roti was extra believe it or not. It was a lot of food and was delicious. My mother ordered the Burger and that was an insult. A burger with no lettuce, no tomato, no pickle, and FOUR, I REPEAT FOUR, potato chips on the side! What is that man?! My father wanted the fish tacos and they said they were out, mind you it was a Saturday night at 7:00. Anyways he went with the steak fajitas, it didn't come in sizzling and looked very underwhelming. Overall, I don't think I will be going back, it's sad as Marker 88 was my favorite restaurant. This new facelift was not needed. For those who know about restaurant in south Florida, it's as if David Grutman opened a restaurant in the keys. This is what happens when investors own a restaurant. I still can't believe it was $410, it would have been a BARGAIN to go to Hillstone in Miami to have the birthday dinner. read more

Marker 88 is a must-go in the Keys whether you are staying in Islamorada or driving all the way down do Key West. Make sure to stop here! The restaurant is big, it has an indoor area and a really amazing outdoor area by the water, very island vibes. They also have live music frequently, which makes the whole experience even better! Staff is super friendly and regarding food, they don't disappoint as well. Last time I ordered the Caesar Salad ($12) with chicken and my husband chose the Islamorada Fish Sandwich with a side of Mac n Cheese ($17). Both were delicious, very tasty. For dessert, please make sure to try their homemade Key Lime Pie. It has a crunchy layer of cracker, and a HUGE layer of merengue on top. It's literally the best Key Lime Pie I've ever eaten. I can't believe that they could charge such an exorbitant amount of money. The vegetable medley that it came with was just OK. The rice was sticky. The Caesar salad was just lettuce I didn't taste any dressing and when I asked for another one, they brought me extra dressing, which was pathetic for an eight dollar up charge. I make better myself you needed a magnifying glass to see any shaved Parmesan. You certainly couldn't taste any. The piña colada was awesome, but it would've been a lot cheaper to just sit at the bar and perhaps order chicken wings I don't think they could ruin those but oh well maybe they can. I've gotten bigger shrimp and all you could eat Chinese bar you got five shrimp for $22 at least when I go to capital Grille I get a shrimp. The sushi was just mediocre and I've had better mahi at Flanigan's. Yes the view was good. Save your money and just have a drink at the bar. If you're looking for a really good dinner go to lazy days. Also, you should skip the dessert especially the rice pudding. Really disappointing experience. There are bugs/flies all around the restaurant that swarm people as they are eating. Seemed like others were also frustrated by this and staff was not accommodating. Went to their renovated location last Saturday for lunch. Beautiful grounds. We were seated promptly but were surprised that the table and place mats were slightly damp and smelled like they were wiped with a rancid/fishy wet rag. When I mentioned it to our efficient waitress she mentioned that they use a special cleaner for the tables. I will not care to guess what the name of the cleaner is. No offer to teclean was offered so I used half a bottle of my hand sanitizer to wipe the table, place mats and chairs. Besides that uncomfortable beginning we ended having a lovely lunch. read more
