This place does one heck of a business when the beach is busy! Go early for lunch if you want a table. Really great view, good service and a varied menu. It hits the spot after hours in the sun. I would highly recommend the Kosher Beef Hot Dog. It's a 1/4 lb of beef on a Hawaiian roll--3 of the 5 people in my party ordered it. Marker 36 is only open to residents of the Pelican Bay community and their guests. There are 2 ways to get there: directly off the beach, or by walking or taking a tram down a long wooden boardwalk through the mangroves, which in and of itself is a special experience. Often you will see alligator, birds, and owls along the path on the way there. Don't try to sneak in, because there are people checking for your identification badge every step of the way. The setting is spectacular, right on the white sandy beach in the heart of Naples. The entire place was renovated about a year ago and was well done. There is both an indoor and an outdoor seating area. In the winter everyone wants to be outside, and in the summer everyone wants to be inside. You need to book early in the winter as it gets very crowded. I've had both good and bad experiences with the food here, and as another reviewer pointed out, you are usually better off getting something rather simple like a salad, sandwich, or something simply grilled. I ordered the grilled salmon which came with asparagus and the house salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the salad was very fresh and loaded with tasty morsels of blackberry, strawberry, slivered almonds, carrot, etc. There aren't many places in Naples where you can sit right at the edge of the beach and watch the sunset, which is what justifies the four star rating here. There's also a large oblong bar where you can eat from the full menu, or just have drinks. There are TVs above the bar playing sports and news. read more

Well . . . the entrees were quite tasty--if not a bit small. The service was attentive, but not terrible personable. Looking out on the Gulf is, of course, lovely. Frankly, I found the outdoor (covered) bar more pleasant and compelling than the "indoor" dining experience. We went over Easter break. Service was SLOW. I ordered the fish which was tough, dry and had no flavor. My daughter ordered the flatbread. It was supposed to have cauliflower on it, it was CLEARLY broccoli. It tasted terrible. After one bite, we sent it back because the broccoli completely over powered the dish. They actually SENT IT BACK TO US- They insisted it was cauliflower not broccoli and would not take it back. I always believed that when you sent a dish back the restaurant wouldn't force you to eat it anyway, well, at least good restaurants do that. What a great place. I was coming here all week while enjoying the beach. However lastnight I had dinner & watched one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. Not to mention the grouper and vegetables were delicious. Paired well with two glasses of sauvignon. It's kid friendly , but could also be a hot date night. read more

I am not usually a tough critic when it comes to restaurants, but this was ridiculous. The rules were weirdly strict, and that is what first pissed the tf off. For instance, my 24 year old brother and 23 year old sister, who forgot their REAL ids, had their beers literally taken from their hands. If they were underage, my parents would have never let them drink publicly in the first place. I am like totally over it (not)... But I'll just move on anyway. So after waiting a half hour, we finally get a table(s). Let me explain that "(s)" I added. The waitress split our group of 8 into two tables of 4. I'm just gonna let that speak for itself, while right across the room we were able to see a table of 8 open literally the WHOLE TIME. EXTREMELY slow service on a slow dinner night. Took 1.5 hrs to be served main course. Others (who were seated long after we were) were served their dinner 20 min before us. One in our party ordered fish and chips. The grouper was actually chewy from sitting so long after it was cooked. Other than a cheerful waiter, our dinner here was completely under whelming. The spectacular sunset was the highlight of the evening. The food tries hard to be impressive but it just is not good. First of all you have to understand that this is not a public restaurant. One has to be a resident of Pelican Bay, or renting in Pelican Bay, or be a guest, just to get in the door. Actually there is no door. Marker 36 is part of one of the two beautiful and charming Pelican Bay beachfront amenities, accessible only by tram through the mangrove forest . So it is more like a country club restaurant, which is to say it is what the Pelican Bay residents want it to be. In that regard I would say it is very good indeed. It is unique among the many water font dining possibilities in Naples, and as beautiful as any. It is relaxed, yet elegant and comfortable. It has indoor and outdoor dining, and a large comfortable bar with tables and chairs along the beachfront and lots of TV screens. In short it has everything it needs to be just what many people in Naples are looking for. And the food is pretty good , too. There are lots of great dining choices in Naples, so go to Nemo's or Food & Thought or True Food or any of dozens of great eating places in Naples. But if you live in Pelican Bay, or can get invited, Marker 36 is as good as it gets for a relaxed, special, beachfront dining experience. read more

I have been a Pelican Bay resident for over 10 years. Marker 36 gets better and better every year. In season, without a reservation it's a long wait for a table and a long wait for your food depending on how big your party is. That's never changed, but that's season. Get over it, enjoy the beach and if that's a problem don't come during season. However the food is very good and the servers are very accommodating. I enjoy Sunday Thanksgiving dinner and love their Gazpacho with crab. I love the elegant and casual feel. You can get a lunch and drink to go and enjoy it right on the beach. Would love it if they had servers on the beach for lunch and drinks but that hasn't been the case just yet. Now if we can only get those renters to not leave their empty plastic glasses on the beach, that would be grrreat! read more
