I try to go to Junkanoo's as much as possible as they have the best burgers on Fort Myers Beach and one of the best burgers in all of Southwest Florida. They're in a new location now.....farther down the barrier island, on the canal side now. like the new location on the marina, food is still great and we had Travis the 2 times we ate there. calamari is really good with peppers & onions, their burgers are THE BEST, having that delicious char-grilled flavor. the chicken parm sandwich was huge, but the sauce was MEH, not too flavorful. would have been a better sandwich WITHOUT the tomato sauce and serve it with bacon, cheese & ranch. chicken was juicy, but sauce bland. portions are large and excessive....SOOOO many fries! Junkanoo was the perfect location for lunch before our dolphin tour. It's located right on the same dock, and we were able to bring our drinks on the boat. I had the blacked chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. Everything was served hot and fresh, and I really enjoyed it! My son had the kids Mac and cheese. Hate paying $8 for Kraft, but he enjoyed it. Our group also had the coconut shrimp and white fish sandwich. Portion sizes were large enough for leftovers, too. Service was relaxed, so not great if you're in a rush, but we had a nice lunch and can't beat being right on the water. read more

Four stars for the ambience and three stars for the food. First time to their new location after the old place was destroyed on Fort Myers Beach. We loved the ambience of the old place as it was classic old style Fort Myers Beach. The new location is on the other side of the island And offers very nice patio views of the marina and the boats that come and go for lunch as well as for tours. We had coconut shrimp as an appetizer and a chicken sandwich wrap. The out of the box coconut shrimp were OK but not nearly as good as the homemade ones at coconut jacks. The chicken sandwich wrap was also OK but nothing to get excited about. The new location is all about the location and it was a very pleasant lunch experience to sit on the deck under an umbrella with a nice breeze and enjoy the boat traffic. Not super impressed. Took us quite a while to put in our order and get food (they were fairly busy, though). We told the server that we had a boat ride scheduled in 30 minutes and she assured us that was plenty of time to get nachos out to us. Notsomuch. They came with about 6 minutes to spare, so we inhaled them. They were cold and soggy, as if they had been sitting around for quite some time before being served. I asked for one more little container of sour cream (each had about 1 tablespoon sour cream, and only 1 container came with the nachos), and she let us know it costs an extra $1 and won't come out any time soon. Uh...ok, then never mind. The server was nice enough, but she was also the bartender and had a lot going on. I will say that their 32 oz drink bucket was very good and worth the price. The view was outstanding. This place wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't make an effort to return. read more

Located in the Snook Bight marina area just behind Publix. Very convenient/easy/free parking. Went midday & enjoyed the ambiance. Feels like vacation. Nice sitting by the water watching boats come in & out. Several boats full of people tried to dock for lunch but it was full so beware if u expect to arrive by boat that docking is limited. Have corn hole, which was fun. Seating options r bar or tables - we chose a table. Server was difficult to understand due to thick accent, but very nice & attentive. Menu is generic Sysco bar food. Don't expect gluten free options or knowledge from staff on food ingredients. Burgers, tacos on flour tortillas, pizza. They do have a gf pizza option, but didn't try that. Burger was meh. Fries r the battered type. Patty melt was good. Truffle fry upgrade not worth it. Their food is no worse than other fmb lunch places, but If they could improve their food quality, it would make a huge difference. We would return due to location, convenience & generally relaxed vibe, but might just go for drinks. read more

I wish as I write this review I could remember our servers name. I think Miguel but not sure. He was hilarious! A great seller and just easy to talk to even though I mis understood him and thought the drink bucket was $50 instead of the normal $15. It was delicious too and like he said more economical than my husband and I to order separate cocktails. We enjoyed the beginning of happy hour and ordered off that menu. The spicy shrimp was tasty but could use some more sauce. Grouper bites were good and the serving of fries was huge. We came by boat and ate by the water. Fun casual atmosphere. read more

The ambiance was nice and the service was quick and responsive, but almost everyone in our 12 person party said their food was "mid" and not nearly as good as other places we have tried. Personally, my food was so bad that I left the rest of it and didn't eat half while I was there. The kids enjoyed seeing the boats and being near the water. read more

We frequently went to old location that was destroyed by the storm. We tried this location for the first time. Not a good environment. It felt like a stand up, packed bar instead of a restaurant to catch a meal. I get it, but it was small, crowded, loud, and the servers seemed too busy to attend to your request. I'll give it one more try, but it would need to be a lot different. I guess the locals love it, that's all that matters. read more

We were told about this place from a person staying at our resort. Glad they did. It was really good! I ordered the fried white fish sandwich with fries. My husband ordered the grilled white fish sandwich with fries. Both were really tasty. For dessert we got the key lime pie. We hope to go back here while we are vacationing in the area. read more

We stopped here as a group of four for our dinner, we looked at some reviews and it seemed as if it would be a nice and chill place to relax and eat. Well, that wasn't the case for the most part of our experience. We were seated next to the water which was nice, and had comfortable shade above us which was great because of how hot it was that day. We all ordered our drinks (unsweetened tea) because they didn't have sweet tea, and after drinking our tea, two of us including myself started to experience a pretty bad stomach ache that ended up lasting the rest of the day and even into the next. On top of that I ordered a burger with no cheese, and when it was brought out with cheese I asked the waiter if I could get it redone without the cheese. The waiter then told me, "I didn't put cheese on it", while I was pointing to the cheese on the burger, he then frowned and grudgingly took the burger back to get it redone. The burger seemed to be a bit cold when the new one came out and was below average taste. So in all the view and seating was solid but the service and food were very, very disappointing. read more

We really enjoyed this place. On a recommendation from a neighbor at the condo we were staying at we decided to try it. We had been to the Publix grocery store earlier and didn't even see this place. Glad we came here. I ordered the grilled white fish sandwich with fries. It was very good. My wife got the fried white fish and said it was also very tasty. My brother was in town a few days later and we decided to take them here for dinner. They offer the same menu in the evening. We had a great time both of our visits. Dined here twice in two days, and unfortunately both experiences were disappointing. The food was average at best, and the service was consistently poor. The hostess was particularly rude. She wrote down our name incorrectly right away, and we were seated in direct sun with no shade. When we asked to move, we were told no without any attempt to accommodate. On the way out, when we raised the issue, she responded with, "Did you ask?"--which was especially frustrating since we had asked multiple times, both to her and our server. On both visits, parts of our order were missed, leaving some people eating while others waited. That shouldn't happen, especially not repeatedly. Overall, the experience felt unwelcoming unless you're a regular. As a visitor, it felt like our business didn't matter. Based on these experiences, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Junkanoo's was always my first place to eat when I visit Ft Myers Beach but not no more. Their blackened grouper bites & shrimp tacos were the best but we went the other night & our food was cold & over cooked. Our waiter, who was very nice, replaced our food but it was the same. I've heard nothing but bad things about this restaurant on Fort Myers Beach since my unfortunate visit two months ago. A group of coworkers stopped there last week and ate the grouper sandwich and were horribly sick that evening from food poisoning from rotten old, frozen fish that they're serving. After talking to some employees who work here all of their fish is frozen and thawed, and stay out in the back room for several days rotting before they cook it. Whatever frozen fish they're getting you could have prepared anywhere in the country. It's literally frozen coming off of frozen food truck like fish sticks. So if you enjoy frozen fish sticks that suck this is your place. read more

We arrived at noon by boat and were met by an attendant who helped catch and tie up the boat. We were a group of 10 and they were able to seat all of our group at adjacent tables, despite being very busy. Our server Alba was excellent! All of the food orders arrived quickly and correctly. The BLT sandwich was awesome.....so much bacon ....so good. The Pier bacon chicken wrap was large and very tasty. Great selection of cocktails and beer. Had to go to the bar to ask for silverware and waters (after asking I initially when we placed our order). Got House Cabernet $6 and Captain and Diet $6. Both served in plastic cups. Food was very salty- ok at best. Decided to leave and head to Dixie or Doc Fords for a decent meal. Bill was $28?? Nothing was itemized, assuming intentionally. This may be my only less than 4 star review ever Will never come back. Hard to believe they share a kitchen with Fresh Catch, which is fantastic and we frequent often. read more

Updating my original review: I like this place. However, they are charging $11.99 for four shrimp to add to a salad. I had a $26 salad the other night. They're charging $12.99 for a half lb of peel and eat shrimp. For the extra $1, I would have rather had those shrimp with my salad. This spot is absolutely perfect for beachside food. We got pizza to go so we could enjoy the beach. The pizza is ready in about 20 minutes. They loaded us up with napkins, plates, ranch etc. I liked the pizza, but it is a bit flimsy and messy. I think we found the sweet-spot timing of arriving 2:30-3pm on a weekday. It was breezy, so the "garage doors" were down between the lower level "inside" bar and patio. Definitely a negative for the waterside view, but positive for comfort and speed to seating! I opted for the 1/2 lb peel & eat shrimp and an IPA - hit the spot perfectly. My +1 had the St Patrick's special of corned beef and cabbage - an amazing portion that folded over to lunch the next day! read more

The food was great, our server was excellent, and it was a beautiful day to sit outside watching the boats traveling on the bay.
