Absolute perfection! We had the bone marrow, the beets, the Crudo, the bread, and the pesto pasta, all were a 10 out of 10 Dakota was our server and he is the best, highly recommend you ask for him!!

I've been to Marisi just once for brunch and it was good. Their menu was small so not too many options to choose from but my friends said their dinner menu is better so I might come back to try that. Their spicy rigatoni was really dry and not spicy at all but that caesar salad and cinnamon roll were delicious.

Obsessed!! We came here for Mother's Day brunch and had a wonderful experience. First off, the decor throughout the entire restaurant, bar, and kitchen was incredible. We sat under their coveted outdoor area but I would love to come back and sit at the bar with live music. For drinks, I loved the Porn Star martini as well as the Espresso Martini. The food menu was a prix fixe, and we loved all of it!! The tiramisu coffee cake was out of the world. The bagel tower with lox was the cutest bagel presentation I've ever seen. And lastly, the lemon bucatini was lovely. I can't wait to come back here and try more items. There was no valet option, so account for time to park.

The best dining experience for breakfast to dinner, and one you'll want to come back to again and again. The Marisi team takes great care of you, from the front staff to the thoughtful preparation of each course, and touch of architectural details on the restaurant walls. If you haven't dined at Marisi, do yourself a favor and experience it for all its beauty. I recommend the following: For a pick-me-up, try the Americano. Appetizers: Focaccia Tomato Carpaccio Salad: Little Gem Main Dish: Spicy Rigatoni Grilled Prawns Dessert: Pistachio & Raspberry Soft Serve

Cinnamon Roll

Came here for brunch with a reservation and we got seated shortly after checking in. Parking was also surprisingly pretty easy. What we ordered: Cinnamon roll - probably one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. They only serve this during brunch so make sure to go for brunch if you want to try it. Focaccia - super soft and super good. We really enjoyed this. Carbonara bucatini - this had good flavor. I wish it had more meat though. Eggs Napolitana - this is a good option if you enjoy tomatoes. My hubby enjoyed this. Pistachio and raspberry soft serve - this was just ok. I wouldn't get it again as I'm not that big of a fan of the flavor. We came here for our anniversary and they gave us a cute little card, and the dessert was complimentary, which was great. I would definitely like to come back again to try the dinner menu. I believe Alysha was our server and she was fantastic!

Great service - but the pastas fell flat The venue was great. Service was great. The servers were friendly and fast. The bone marrow appetizer was huge and delicious. Super impressive presentation for sure. We also got the whole roasted chicken which was really good. The reason for the 3 stars was the pasta. Supposed to be hand made and fresh- what we got was over cooked and gummy. Almost as if - across all 4 pasta plates that we ordered - they had been sitting under heat lamps for a long time before coming to us. The eggs in the carbonara were almost soft scrambled.

Ambiance, location, and dog friendliness is great 5 stars. Food is mediocre and leaves much to be desired 2 stars. Overall 3 stars Artichoke appetizer was burnt to crisp... so charred Spicy rigatoni was just ok but portions are so small and rly nothing was spectacular for the price. Everything is just cheese or black pepper or tomatoes as garnish. We overheard other neighboring tables being disgruntled with the food as well. Sorry there wont be a next time here. Carbonara authentic but not a fan of. Lots of pepper.

Looking for a place to have lunch in La Jolla and stopped by Marisi for a quick bite. First impressions the place was beautifully decorated and really gave off a bright spring vibe with the flowers. Me & a friend shared their Carbonara bucatini and beef carpaccio, and sadly the carbonara bucatini was very creamy but just a bit too salty for my taste. Ordering the beef carpaccio with is definitely saved it by balancing it out, and we both enjoyed the beef carpaccio a bit more. Just a bit disappointed in how salty our pasta was but definitely would like to try other dishes next time. Very welcoming staff overall as well :)

Initially came to try the "Girl Dinner" set but after looking at the menu, we decided the better option was À la carte due to prices and variety (and we were right). We started the meal with the prosciutto, focaccia, and Little Gem salad. After we finished the appetizers, the pasta took a while to come out, and it came out cold! Everything was unimpressive. The carbonara was salty, did not taste like carbonara. The focaccia was tasteless even with the whipped brown butter, aged balsamic. The best thing from our meal was the Little Gem salad. I will give it to the restaurant for having cute vibes and a nice seating area outside but other than that, I'd skip on the food.

Cute plate and drink

Good ambiance , everything is very on brand. Looks cute, new and expensive. We had the girl dinner, and I ordered a couple of other extra dishes to get a broader taste of the restaurant. Other Dishes ordered are: funghi and carbonara. Service was good. Well trained and explained everything well. The girl dinner pasta dish was better than the carbonara. But both pasta dish were easy to forget. Carbonara has decent flavor but not executed well technically. The sauce was separated , and looks like scramble egg. Bread was decent (good story on the ancient grain, I was definitely sold). Salad was okay. Funghi has the most potential, but also meh. Had a good time with my friend though.

Bone marrow

It's been a long time since I've been here. I was excited to give this place another chance but left fully disappointed. Came here with a group of friends and tried a few things on the menu. The focaccia with the whipped butter and gem salad was the only things worth eating... Carbonara pasta came out cold and extremely salty. They were kind enough to replace it with another cold and salty pasta. Bone marrow had stale bread and enough marrow for only half the group to try. We ordered our steak medium and it came out medium rare. Our server acknowledged it and sent it back. It tasted/looked like they added into boiling water and over cooked it to almost well done. The ossobuco was okay. The atmosphere is nice but I don't think I'll be back

Decor and design 5 star. The bar area was adorable and service top notch. The bartenders were attentive and knowledgeable. The wine and cocktail menu was extensive and had great selections. Location is a desirable and lovely, albeit somewhat touristy, and parking can be a bit frustrating, although circling will allow you to find somewhere. Service, although friendly, our server forgot parts of our order, an appetizer came same time as a main, the server would be absent while we waited for salad dressing on our naked salad, drinks ordered never received, and a couple other service-related requests overlooked. But they were pretty busy so we realized it was hard on the server to be in two places at once. I'd probably return, I'd just hope next time the ordering and receiving food part felt less discombobulated.

The place was lively, but luck was on our side: one perfect booth remained for the four of us sweet seekers. We settled in and immediately starting gabbing (versus checking out the menu). George came over to take our order. Without even glancing at the dessert menu (a bold move, I'll admit), I asked for one of each dessert to share--paired, of course, with a couple glasses of Scarpetta Rosé bubbles (okay so I glanced at te wine menu). Priorities . What arrived was equal parts surprise and delight. First, a charming little glass jar filled with lightly whipped crème fraîche and topped with salted caramel--simple, elegant, and absolutely delicious. And then... the "hamburger." Cue the table going completely silent. Naturally, we had questions. Our server walked us through this masterpiece from the bottom up: a golden caramel cake "bun," topped with a chocolate-coated ice cream "patty," a delicate mango gelée "cheese," and even "pickles" made from matcha cake. Finished with a second warm cake layer and a touch of garnish we were too excited to fully catch--because at that point, we were already diving in. The contrast of warm cake, cool ice cream, and rich chocolate was nothing short of fantastic. Playful, unexpected, and genuinely delicious--exactly the kind of dessert experience you hope to stumble upon. Thank you, The Whaling Bar, for the sweet surprises. We'll absolutely be back--next time for martinis, and I've already been told the duck meatballs are not to be missed.

We called to add a couple extra people, and then those people didn't show; they rolled with the punches. The table was set when we got there. Service throughout was friendly, prompt, over and above. Ambiance was great, in a very important way: There was nice music, but you could hear yourself think! Nobody had to repeat themselves a million times. Perfect sound level for a group our size. But the food was the absolute star of the show. Literally everything was perfect. For shareable appetizers, we got both the trio and the mezze plate. It was basically hummus flights, with pita triangles and multicolored carrots. All the hummus types were delicious. But a special shout-out to the truffle hummus--it was divine. It was very truffle-y, but it was also very light and creamy. Somehow that's not a combo I expected. Next, I'm already a falafel fan, but good *Lord* their falafel was unreal. Some kind of perfect crispiness on the outside and soft flakiness inside that I've never experienced before in falafel. I asked the server what he'd recommend, and he said beef kebab. I got the beef kebab. He was not wrong. The meat itself was sumptuous. And I just moved from Texas, where every other backyard BBQ has someone smoking their brisket for 18 hours. This was the kind of cook where even the marbling melts in your mouth. Even the carrots were good, I don't know what to tell ya. 10/10.

We ordered the hamachi, sourdough, steak frites and the Cacio e Pepe to share. Hamachi had good flavor, but there was a noticeably fishy aftertaste - more than expected ($36) Sourdough came out hot and was tasty, but both the bread and butter were over salted. I tend to like salt more than most and even for me it was a bit much ($15) Steak Frites were the most disappointing. For $77, the portion was small and the steak wasn't particularly tender, but it was edible. The fries were also heavily salted to the point that we couldn't finish them. Cacio e Pepe was probably our favorite but if I'm going to go off of preference here, the tagliatelle was thinner than we prefer for a sauce that rich. Also, $40 for cheese and pepper will never make sense to me - even if it's premium. Overall, a nice setting and good service but I really just felt the food didn't live up to the price point.

Overall, the food and experience felt average to me, which is why I landed at 3 stars. Not bad, just okay. I had no prior knowledge of the restaurant, their brand, popular menu items, or social media presence. To be fair, doing a bit more research beforehand might have helped me get more out of the experience and try what they're best known for. This is a casual neighborhood spot, so there's no need to dress up. Their tagline, "Where the locals eat," fits the vibe well. The staff are friendly. An older woman was kind and social. She showered me in compliments and the spent some time chatting with the table next to us. It gave the place a neighborhood, familial feel where the staff seem comfortable engaging with guests. Our server was polite, though a bit rushed. He would check in, start a conversation, and then quickly move on mid-sentence. I ordered the Malbec, Antigal (Argentina). It's a $15 bottle retail and priced at $15 per glass. We ordered the Mussels and Focaccia bread as an appetizer. The broth was a bit on the salty side, though the fries on top were cooked well. The bread felt a little firm and could have been fresher. If you're seated at a 2-person table, space can be tight once both appetizers and entrees arrive. We ended up moving to a larger table to accommodate everything. The portion sizes and plates are large and can be shared among 2-3 people. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was underwhelming for me. My husband ordered the 24-Hour Braised Beef Short Ribs and really enjoyed them. He said they were tender and flavorful. For our special occasion, we were treated to their homemade mud pie dessert. It's a coffee flavored ice cream with an Oreo crumb crust topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The portion was very HUGE and more than we could finish. It became a bit repetitive after a few bites. The slice portion can be shared up to 3-4 people, in my opinion. If I were to return, I'd be interested in trying some of the dishes they highlight on social media rather than sticking to the more standard Italian options.
