first time visit, definitely not the last. First of all really cute, colorful decor. Just what you would expect. The ladies that took care of the tables could not have been friendlier, nicer, and more congenial. Best fried shrimp I have ever had, the french fries were OK, and the sauces were excellent. Cannot wait to return.

Small place in a strip center. Locals are the main people here. Delicious! The wife had a ceviche that had all kinds of seafood. I had the shrimp skewer with onions, peppers and other veggies. So good. Best seafood!!

We were hanging out in Santa Fe today and I was starved, so we thought we'd try something new. Walking in, you're greeted with vibrant colors and intricate decor. I loved the setting! The waitress came to get our drink order and brought us some Chips and Dips. There was a delicious white dip that I couldn't identify, but it was very tasty. The Jalapeño was nice and spicy in that dip and in the pico de gallo. I ordered the Relleno, which is a 10 oz Trout covered in scallops and shrimp. I had requested they not put the usual octopus on there. The whole trout was covered in white cheese. I loved the taste but did find the cheese too overwhelming in some spots. The sides that came with it, fried potato wedges, white rice, and corn, were alright. The corn was the star of the sides. My husband got the Chicken and Beef Combo Fajitas. The chicken was plentiful, but the beef was scarce. Instead of strips, the beef was cut into very small chunks and there was very little of it. From what I tasted, it was all very flavorful. I will definitely give this place another try. One important note is that the bathrooms were impeccably clean. That tells me employees take pride in the restaurant and gives me confidence that they take care in every other aspect as well. Can't wait to make a return trip and hope to give this place more stars next time!

We Loved this place! It is unassuming but we were so pleasantly surprised by the outstanding food and service. The waitresses were exceptionally nice, attentive, and welcoming. The shrimp cocktail was awesome and the horchata was also very good. The mixed veggie side with squash and zucchini etc was also really tasty! Bathroom was also really clean and that counts for a lot too I would highly recommend this place!

Ms T and I had been to Mariscos Costa Azul on a previous visit to Santa Fe. This time the four of us went to La Playa for some seafood. apparently they are not connected. They served us three salsas to get started. There was a smooth pureed onion salsa with a little avocado added for color. We left this one alone. Then there was a typical onion pico with some tomato added for color. We left this one alone as well. Finally, there was a pureed bean dip which was fine. We all had very good seafood diches around the table. Ms T and TT split an order of Shrimp Fajitas, ordered with no onion. It was nicely grilled and well-seasoned. Bro J had a huge Grilled Seafood platter with bay scallops, squid, octopus and fish. It was strongly flavored. Everything was quite tender and we suspect they cook it ahead and then grill it to order. I decided on Camarones al Diablo in a delicious creamy chile chipotle sauce. The shrimp got a bit lost in the flavor of the sauce, but the sauce was so good. I am sitting, as I write this, about 50 yds from the ocean. The seafood here is so fresh and flavorful I have to remember that Santa Fe is not exactly a a place to find that freshness. For the desert, it was pretty good and well prepared. I am going with four stars for the seafood dishes and the enjoyment we had of the meal. It may be a little generous and I am discounting the excessive onion usage.

We ordered a charcuterie and cheese board which was much larger than expected and had plenty of local options. I started with a See You At Dusk, which was a combo of Melleti, souchu, balasmic, ginger and walnut. I found it to be a very flavorful drink that paired well with the board. I next tried a Bywater which was rum, falernum, genepy and Averna. It was a very deep and rich cocktail which I also enjoyed. Did tears of certainty spark his eyes as he sat under those moody lights, standing firm that yes So Long, See You Tomorrow needs not one or two but three different types of sesame- what did he feel? Was that beverage intended to pogo stick my friend off the proverbial wagon into the depths of glugging Long Island ice teas just to feel something familiar again? Because it did. And my heart aches for that friend but I too would lose my mind if I were to stare into such a void and see whatever it is that stares back. Was this menu the vision of a team- a baffling Frankenweenie invented by committee- or the secret wish of one troubled mind? I see it all so clearly and yet I can't help but doubt my own memory. Had no drink technician ever walked from front door to car, inhaled the piñon perfumed air outside and thought, I can do something with that. And while their cocktails were good, the service was lackluster and it was loud and crowded. Granted I visited Tonic a little later in the evening, but it was low lit, quiet, not crowded, and playing jazz. The bartender was SUPER attentive, but in a positive way. He really seemed to care that we were comfortable. In fact, most of the negative reviews complain that it was low lit and quiet and only one bartender. I found these things the most attractive. They focus on craft cocktails with seasonal ingredients. I visited late in the night after other stops at Secreto and Coyote Cafe, so I was flagging a bit. I can't even remember what I ordered, but both cocktails were great. Very herbal and complex. They have herbal cocktails, savory cocktails, spicy too. I also love how some of their cocktails have little romance novels or stories to go along with them as a way to describe their flavors/mood.

A staff member asked our group size, said she needed to check with the bartender, and then a male employee came up and said he was the bartender. He told us they couldn't accommodate a party of nine and also refused to let us split into smaller groups. The way it was handled made it worse--he was condescending and hit us with, "I don't make the rules, I just enforce them," with zero effort to offer alternatives or show any basic customer service. I've never experienced a place turn away a group that's clearly ready to spend money, especially on drinks. Turning away out-of-town guests like that without even trying to work with us is a pretty bad look. Definitely not a great first impression.

The first time we came, we had a delicious cheese & charcuterie plate with all the fixins, including a spicy jam I asked to take to-go when we were done. Wines were delicious--the hubs and I each ordered a flight, he a "refreshing whites" flight and I a mix n match situation (also whites, but with bubbly selections as well). The grandparents got their drinks by the glass and the kiddo was happy to have water and snacks. The ambiance is cool, both literally and figuratively....it was so pleasant to come in from the summer heat into this stylish and AC'd spot featuring local artists' work on the walls, and the hand soap in the bathroom also felt artisan and special. When I arrived, I originally wanted to visit the restaurant, which was closed for the week due to a family emergency. So I presented to the open seating bar. Was ignored a long time. Got up to go to the bar and someone else stole my table. Took a long time to be acknowledged by the bar tender and finally made an order. Took quite a while to get it. Things got better when a bar seat opened up and I moved to the bar. But keep in mind, a different bar tender pretty much took over and kept my drinks flowing. That first bar tender could not hang, demonstrating poor time management skills and appeared to be moving slowly. The second bar tender, I think his name is Hector, really turned things around for me. I visited Secreto (another hotel based outfit, in the Hotel St. Francis) because they are supposed to be a "cocktail experience," boasting "garden to glass" cocktails. Dark wood and southwestern palate for decor. I had: Smoked sage margarita: flagship drink, smoked washed premium margarita (super herbal) Ghost ranch reverie: Tequila with peach, apricot shrub, lemon, seltzer, smoked rosemary (light, not too sweet, an "homage to the passionate artists of the southwest) Madonna of the Mesa: tequila blanco, pomegranate, mouth herbs, lemon, rose water (soft and balanced) Secret garden: basil infused gin gimlet with lime and chomilre infused honey. "Botanical crispiness meets honeyed serenity." I liked the basil, but the honey wasn't my thing. But a good cocktail. Again, drinks were good.
