We have dined at this restaurant a few times now (Lunch time). This has quickly become our go to spot due to consistent food and attentive employees. Items we usually order are: Molcajete $56 Ceviche Mitotero $40 Shrimp Ceviche $14 NY Steak Tacos (3 count) $25 NY Steak Taco $9 Grilled Chicken Fajitas $28 Mixed Fajitas $40 Fish Filet $30 Molcajete is delicious. Friends love their Fajitas, Steak Tacos & their Ceviche. Food is a tad bit pricier for the location ($3-$5 more per item). But, great service, ample seating, and proximity to us justify going here. *Laughs*
Amazing service every. single. time. Adriana and Samantha are amazing. Daniel is the best!! I came for my birthday and they were so attentive and even sang happy birthday to me with a sundae! Love this place.
First time here and everything was great. The space is beautiful, the service was wonderful from the floor manager greeting us to our server Veronica, and the food!! Everything was fresh and sustainably sourced. Definitely coming back!
My waiter Andre is awesome!! So nice, helpful and friendly. The food is delicious and I was able to watch the Dodgers game. They have a live band. Would definitely come back.
Great atmosphere with great staff. Waiting staff were kind, smiling, conversing with guests which was very pleasant to see. Patio seating area and great space to host events. Food was delicious. Had the michelada and tostada mixta. Definitely would recommend the tostada section for a lighter munch.
Mariscos Choix is one of those local seafood gems that often gets overlooked, tucked right into the heart of downtown Downey on busy Firestone. I came in for a solo Monday lunch, and somehow this team made it feel like a lively weekend visit. The service, the food, the atmosphere--everything hit the spot. I was waited on by Jairo, who delivered exceptional service from start to finish. He walked me through the menu, answered every question with patience and humor, and checked on me consistently without ever being intrusive. My drink never even had a chance to get low. His energy made the experience feel personal and genuinely welcoming. After I paid, Raymond, the manager, approached me to ask how everything went. He explained how much honest feedback helps them grow and tackle concerns, which I appreciated. He also told me about their live bands from Wednesday through Sunday--something I'll definitely be coming back to experience. Honestly, the only "concern" I had was how much I ate. Kudos to Raymond for caring about the business he manages and the staff. Now, the food. I ordered the Camarones Cucarachos 2.0, and let me tell you--get them shelled, not peeled. Peeling them yourself gives double the flavor and makes the whole dish more satisfying. The chipotle sauce they're cooked in is sweet with just the right touch of smokiness. I also had two Baja tacos, one fish and one shrimp. Both were reasonably sized, perfectly battered, and beautifully presented. Simple, clean, and delicious. To pair with my meal, I tried El Borracho, which felt like a Mexican twist on an Old Fashioned--Mexican whiskey blended with Maestro Dobel aged tequila, served in a smoking cloche. Smooth, aromatic, and memorable. I also had their popular Michelada with shrimp, which lived up to the hype. My first visit to Mariscos Choix was genuinely memorable. The staff's attentiveness, the quality of the food, and the welcoming atmosphere made this solo lunch feel special. I'll absolutely be returning soon. Thank you to the entire team for making my first experience one worth remembering.
We went to Mariscos Choix on a Wednesday evening. The ambiance is nice, though the live music can be loud. We ordered the Mitotero with fish and shrimp ceviche, as well as the premium white fish a la diabla. The fish dish originally came out as shrimp, and when corrected, the fish smelled a bit fishy and seemed more like tilapia than premium white fish. I also had the cucumber jalapeño margarita, which was $20 but had great flavor. Overall, the food was unremarkable and pricey, but the atmosphere and service were good.
Our tacos were amazing. Beautiful presentation and super tasty. The shrimp tacos were the best for us. The mariachi was a nice touch and our server was fantastic. It was nice to be in a nice relaxing environment.
First time here and I'm please with the food and service. Our waitress name is Samantha and she is very polite and informative of all the menu items, and great customer service. I had the oysters naturales and the Michelada pruebla de Camaron. Shrimps and oysters were delicious and fresh! I def recommend coming here and I will come back again.
I love it here!!!!! Adriana, Samantha y especialmente en gerente Daniel nos trataron con tanta amabilidad. I've been coming here since before their renovations and it's as good as it's ever been. The ambiance is welcoming and the service is amazing. They always make us feel welcome and as family. It was my sister's bday and the manager Daniel made sure she felt special in her day. Well definitely keep coming back Gracias Choix!
I celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here with his family, and everyone was incredibly happy with the food! Just a heads up that they don't do reservations under party sizes of 8, so we waited about an hour to be seated. The inside is super cute and vacation-themed, and they had live music in the back when we went. I ordered the baja fish tacos, and my boyfriend ordered tostada rebelde. We also ordered some drinks: the Nemo, a paloma, and a margarita. The food was delicious - it tasted so fresh, and all of the flavors worked together beautifully. All of the salsas had a nice kick! The portions were also super generous. I appreciated that they were able to make adjustments to food, especially if it had raw shrimp in it. My boyfriend's brother got aguachiles but with cooked shrimp, and it was so light and refreshing. The waitress was attentive and on top of getting us more drinks, getting us more chips, and clearing the table in general. My only complaint was that they had seated us right up against the performers, and it was too loud to have a conversation with other people at the table. Considering that it was our first time there, this could probably be remedied by making seating preferences known in the future. The food was delicious, so I will definitely be back!
Great customer service and ambience! Food was super fresh and delicious! Will be coming back :)!
My wife and I came here for our anniversary because we were craving some authentic seafood, and Mariscos Choix absolutely delivered. The reviews were spot on. Every dish that hit our table was excellent and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with great music and an amazing atmosphere that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. And don't even get me started on the drinks. The passion fruit infused cocktail was amazing and honestly one of the best drinks I've had in a while. A big shoutout to our server Samantha. She was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down. The service was just as good as the food, which made our anniversary dinner that much better. Some of our favorite dishes were the scallops and the prepared oysters. Both were fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. If you're anywhere near Downey and enjoy seafood, do yourself a favor and check this place out. We'll definitely be coming back.

Itzel was our server on a Friday night and she did great! The ambiance gave me Cabo vibes with airy concept. Outside seating was decorated with tropical plants, and beautiful lighting. I believe lighting is such an important factor when setting any mood. We chose to sit outside which was enclosed with glass windows, and equipped with heaters. The seating was so cozy and I just loved everything about the outside patio. Apparently, they recently went through a big time renovation because the place didn't look this nice at all before. For our meal we ordered: Michelada with Pacifico draft, Mariposa, Tacos Sinaloenses (shrimp, cheese, garlic) which came with 3, Tostada de Ceviche de Camaron, chili salsa on the side, and for dessert.. Churros!! The Mariposa is one of their signature mixologist crafted cocktail. I really enjoyed this one. And I better for $24! Infused blanco tequila, lime, and tonic. It came with dry ice which created such a cool effect. My friend enjoyed the Michelada and claimed it's one of the only ones she can really enjoy. It's not too salty either. The food was so good! The only reason I took a star off is their prices. I'd definitely come back here, especially since we were gifted a free ceviche for our next visit. Live band was on the other side of the patio, we witnessed a first date, a group discussing plans, lots of date nights. This place was filled with all kinds of fun! There is no parking lot. We parked in the Del Taco parking lot across the street which had a security guard. He didn't say anything to us about not parking there. So I'm assuming that's where you're supposed to park for this place! read more

Went here for lunch based on the reviews. Here's our experience: Service = 10! Fantastic experience! Thank you so much to our server, Laura H. She was so nice, accommodating and provided excellent and professional service! We brought our puppy and Laura gave our pup a water bowl to make sure she was good! This was our first time here and she made the experience wonderfully memorable! Thank you, Laura H! Ambiance= 8 The place was airy, clean, spacious, and had a Latin cool vibe. The music was excellent, and we felt very comfortable where we were seated. The restroom were clean and stocked. The only reason this rating is not a 10 because parking was difficult. There's no dedicated parking. You had to park on the limited street parking or across the street. This was a bit of a hassle, but still worthy of a 8. Food & Price=6 The food was good and tasty. However, it was overpriced for what you get. What we ordered: 1. Fish tacos: you get 3 small tacos-not a lot of fish for $6 a taco=$18.00. 2. Empanadas: you get 3 for $28.00. Again not a lot of fish/shrimp in it. 3. Mix Fajitas: you get steak, fish, and shrimps. Again not a lot of meat or seafood for $37.00 4. Campechana: this was probably the best dish we ordered, but still overpriced at $25.00. read more

PHENOMENAL! My gf and I love Mexican food and during our recent LA trip we were in search of seafood. We had the aguachiles negro, tacos pulpo and a tostada. We also had the mineral water lemonade which paired perfectly. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. A HUGE shoutout to our server Andre who was super friendly and helpful!! Lastly the restaurant itself had a great modern vibe, with lots of plants, seating areas, and a mariachi band playing. We will definitely be visiting again next time we're in town. read more

Thank you Isabel for the 10 star feedback. We love that you enjoyed…
I wish I could give this establishments 10 stars. The service was spot on, attentive and genuine. Our waiter had great recommendations and raved about the food with great confidence, this reassured me that it was delicious and worth the 30 minute drive we took to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. My husband and I joined the beautifully designed restaurant on Tuesday Jan. 6 for lunch and we feel like we stumbled upon a gem. We had 4 variety of tacos, the chicharrone pescado appetizer, and the tostadas and salsa they give before your meal was exactly what we wanted, tangy and smoky. I enjoyed 1 cocktail, the Paloma and it was made very well and did exactly what 1 good cocktail should. We were treated with rich vanilla ice cream topped with good quality dark chocolate syrup and whipped cream at the end of our meal. We were so delighted with our food we can't wait to come back and bring the entire familia! Thank you for making our special day, delicious! Everyone who plays a role in making this place what it is should be proud of themselves! Keep it up! read more

I love this place! The food never misses, ambiance is gorgeous, and the service absolutely phenomenal! My party of twelve came to celebrate my mom's birthday and we couldn't have had a better experience. The cherry on top were the músicos who came to sing las mañanitas while we cut my mom's cake. I love this place! I've been here a few times and the best ceviche is here! The place looks good, I wish they had a more diverse music selection. Moises helped us today and he gave us great and speedy service! Plus the rebelde tostada was AMAZING! I liked that the manager stop by our table to check in. The only thing I wish is that they had a bigger parking. However I don't really care and I will be here again. read more

Been to the Pico location and tried the downey one for the first time. Came on a friday night and it was pretty busy. The fish chicharron was delicious, perfectly crispy. The longastinos were a little over cooked but the flavor of the sauce was great. The botana was good, all very fresh. The drinks were good but not very strong. The ambiance is loud and fun. read more

Went to Mariscos Choix for a date night and it was perfect! The vibe was super chill with a tropical-ish theme, think laid back but still cute. We sat outside and the patio setup was amazing: perfect lighting, comfy bench-style seating, and just a really nice atmosphere for a warm night. Our server was so sweet and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. Drinks, I ordered the Mariposa and wow... the presentation alone was straight up IG worthy, but it actually tasted just as good as it looked (which doesn't always happen!) We started with the chicharrones de pescado and aguachiles both insanely fresh and flavorful. I got the tacos de pulpo and my boyfriend went with one of the tostadas. Literally every single bite was a hit. We kept giving each other "OMG" looks after every dish. Highly recommend for a fun night out, date night, birthday, or just when you're craving amazing seafood done right. read more
