The place looks very nice, lights, music is a little loud but you can talk too. There is a bar area, outdoor and indoor dining and everything is comfortable to eat and to have a nice time. We ordered negro aguachile mixto, which it was very good! Also tacos al gobernador and Marlin they tasted good too but next time we will try something else because there are many options in the menu. I ordered a Paloma drink so good as well. The waiter was very nice and ready to give us options for what to eat tonight. We will return soon. read more

Our server (Alondra) was excellent and honestly I didn't have to reach out for assistance as both Alondra and the floor management was on top of it. I definitely recommend coming here. My boyfriend and his family celebrated my birthday this past weekend at Mariscos Choix. It was my first time going there and I fell in love with the place. The food, service i, and ambiance were amazing. I'm obsessed with this place and can't wait to go back and try something new from the menu. My boyfriend and I ordered the botana de Cameron con pulpo, one fish taco which the sauce is sooo good we used it to eat it with tacos sinaluense and a mojara frita. The ambiance here is nice and sometimes they have live music, you just have to check the schedule! The food is good but a little on the pricier side and average portions. The Micheladas are tasty just a note the alcohol is on the pricier side as well! I tried the tostada rebelde and the fish tacos here! The service is good and the waiters speak both Spanish and English. As soon, as you are seated they welcome you with fresh salsa and tostadas to snack on! The place has been recently remodeled and it is nice and modern inside the establishment! It gives a modern, Mexican, tropical aesthetic! The only downside to this location is the parking which you have to fend for yourself on the street lol. There are tvs outside in the patio area if you are interested in game watching. read more

Daniel was the best server/ barista we could have gotten on a Sunday afternoon. It was mine and my girlfriend's first time at this restaurant and his recommendations exceeded our expectations. We ordered the ceviche mitotero which he mentioned was a sharable plate and let me tell yooouuuuu the flavors were exquisite. Also, I need to mention the manager Raymon, my gf is a huge sports fanatic and asked to be seated wherever the TVs were. I loved that he gave us the option to sit in the patio or the bar inside the AC. Not only did we request to watch the dodgers game but he remembered we came to watch the packers game at 1pm, when the time came around he literally walked up to our table to make sure the game we wanted to watch was on. Tried this place out last Saturday night and it was delicious! Located in Downey, there's some street parking and a parking lot next to it that you can park in, there's security in the lot and nearby the restaurant. You can also join their waitlist ahead of time via their website. For a party of 2 in the patio, we waited about 20mins but were able to join before we left to the restaurant so we only waited about 10 minutes there. The only thing is they don't have seats outside so just sat on their ledge until our table was ready. Once inside, you can get a Mexico vibe and a pretty aesthetic! The menu is pricey though, it seems like a good place for groups and/or celebrating something. They have big drinks, buckets of beers, micheladas, and more that we saw other tables ordering. We didn't get any drinks this time and weren't super hungry. They gave us complimentary tostadas and salsa (the salsa is spicy! In a good way) and our food came shortly after we ordered. We both ordered a tostada each, I got the shrimp tostada and my friend ordered the fish ceviche tostada. We both really enjoyed our meals! We shared an order of the shrimp empanadas, which looked pretty but tasted okay, a little doughy. In the patio area they also have TVs so we were able to watch the dodger game that was on. Honestly the food was really good everything had such good flavor and paired really well with each other. And the overall ambiance is cool especially knowing that they have live music. Now that being said; the service is terrible, our server Lourdes, pretty much left us alone the whole time we were constantly having to ask others for anything. The only time she came over to us to check on us was towards the end of our meal at which point we just wanted to pay and leave yet we couldn't even do that because once again we were left sitting waiting for someone to take our payment. There was also a point during our meal where they began moving a table across the room dangerously carrying it just above people's heads. I love this place. I am not kidding the Ceviche Mitotero is one of the best plates of seafood I've had. I've gone back twice for the same thing. It has a mix of the different types of ceviche and you don't even have to add anything onto it. The lime flavoring and chile is all there and it's so damn good. This was our first time at Mariscos Choix (me and my boyfriend), and we found it while searching for a good mariscos spot nearby and we are so glad we did. The reviews were great, and now we know why. We arrived around 12:30pm on a Sunday and were seated right away. Our server, Ariana, was fantastic. She was super friendly, attentive, and gave us great recommendations that really made our meal. We started with the Gobernador empanadas as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious. Perfectly soft with just the right amount of crunch, and packed with incredible flavor. For our main dishes, we shared the Huevos al Albanil from their brunch menu and the Aguachile with negra sauce. The huevos dish was flavorful and the house sauce they came with was full of bold flavor. We were not sure which sauce to choose for the aguachile, but Ariana kindly brought us a sample of the negra sauce. She said it was delicious, and she was absolutely right. My boyfriend loved it so much he used the leftover sauce on everything else. The aguachile itself was light, refreshing, and beautifully plated. For drinks, my boyfriend ordered the Mango Margarita which was definitely on the sweeter side and really enjoyable. I tried El Burro Rojo, which was more on the sour side but still very tasty, and also ordered the Escalde Margarita, which came with a fun presentation. It had a very unique flavor. It was not as sweet as a typical margarita, but still good and something you might develop a taste for. There was also a live mariachi band playing, which added a fun and vibrant energy to the already nice atmosphere. Overall, we had a great first experience and are already talking about coming back, especially to bring my mom. By the time we left, there was a wait, so I definitely recommend getting there early.
