a plate of fried chicken, rice, and salad
Denise W.

For me, the only reason I will give this place any stars is for the waiter, Omar. Very sweet guy, attentive, and friendly. My husband may give it another star on top of mine as he said his battered fish and french fries were good. The margaritas didn't have a kick to them and priced at $9....it should've had something. I'm a vegetarian and besides side dishes of white rice and beans, there is absolutely nothing else to choose from on the menu. At least have a salad section! If I were asked, "What do you recommend for a vegetarian?" My answer would be....another restaurant.

Dining area decor
Lauren F.

After years of driving by this place, multiple times per day, I finally decided to stop in and have lunch last week. The decor here is super fun and the vibe is really like being at a Mexican beach shack for lunch, with the bar at the heart of the restaurant. The service was great and our waiter was really attentive. That being said, the food was pretty "meh" and run-of-the-mill. I wouldn't say there was anything that really stood out in terms of flavor and everything was prepared appropriately, so it really was just kind of boring food. If you aren't into a lot of spice and want more mild flavors, especially with your seafood, this is a great spot. Additionally, there's almost nothing on this menu that isn't at least $20 per plate. So, for higher prices, I'd sure be expecting better food. I probably won't be back here, but you might have a great experience, so if the mood strikes, check it out.

Pulpo Cocktail. DELIGHTFUL!
Michael S.

Stopped by tonight for a medium Pulpo Cocktail ($14) and 2 Fish Tacos ($4 each). The slices of Octopus tentacles were plentiful and tender in a rich marinade of tomato, onions, cilantro and lime juice. I added a little bit of hot sauce and more lime juice. The freshness and flavor really popped! Then my 2 fish Tacos arrived. Lightly beer battered fish filets on corn tortillas. Mexican relish and cole slaw were added to the Tacos with lime juice and hot sauce. Delicious! Hot and crisp fish surrounded by fresh veggies and held together by a tortilla. I enjoyed my meal tremendously. It was a light meal yet very satisfying. Total after tax was $23.35. I shall return! The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasant as well. Service was courteous and efficient.

LOVR LOVE LOVE WE have been coming here for years!! We always get the XL ceviche and the Camaron "Shrimp" Culichi. The ceviche comes with chips, mayo, limes and hot sauce. Mayo? Yes Mayo!! You put it in the tostada, then the ceviche and a squirt of lime and hot sauce and you're taste buds will sing like Mariachis!! The Culichi comes with fries, rice and a salad. We always get extra rice and no fries. Also mui importante ~ Make sure you order extra Culichi sauce because YES it's that good!!

#38, (only shrimp pictured here just to show how big these are!)

Yes, delicious, well seasoned with a lot of flavor. My husband ordered the grilled fish tacos and he said it was good as well. They give you some mango salsa for the tacos. Service: we sat at a high table by the bar and this cute robot server was going around delivering the food orders. We sat on a high table so we didn't get to be served by the robot but that's ok because Nayeli (I think that was our bar server) did an excellent job taking care of us. Prices were comparable to other establishments like this. $$ Ambiance: I can tell this place can get crowded so plan ahead and be patient.

My first option was to try the fish, but when I heard what type of fish they were using, I kindly declined. Opted for the calamari with a side salad with ranch I'm a settle at the calamari was good. It was nice and fresh and hot, but the salad was disgusting. I asked for ranch and they put some type of dressing which turns out to be dressing for coleslaw. I advised my waitress to her response was that's the first time I heard someone not lagging it. Interesting didn't offer to switch it out for a plain salad or to switch it for french fries especially since I paid extra to get a salad.. At our table, we also have the chicken strips which is plentiful. It's enough to feed the entire table in fact, so lots of leftovers of that that was also good because it was fresh and hot. My son went for the combo with the snow, crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. He also said it was delicious, but I don't believe I'll come back. It's unfortunate cause I really did wanna like this place, but without being offered a substitute or the exact same salad minus the dressing that was placed on it that did not taste very good at all. It was sour. For the cost of their food, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere

I was greeted by the bartender who was SUPER friendly and made me feel very welcome. There were others at the bar that asked if I needed a seat at the bar. Very cool vibe. Sports bar vibe....with a family friendly place as well. The second bartender that relived the first one was..nice and friendly, but I did not get that "happy your here "feeling. I ordered the HH cod tacos with slaw, avocado lime sauce, and salsa. They were so good!! The blend of the fresh fish with the slaw....YUMMY. The fish was perfectly cooked. Crisp and not greasy, and so flavorful. I wondered why they delivered a bunch of napkins and ....a few bites in I realized. All over the face, and dripping down the chin....good!! :-) I got a burger to go, with added green chilies. I asked for rare, and I got medium to medium well. Sad panda, but it is still a good burger. I just really love to taste the burger at a rare temp. I also asked for a cup of the gumbo. My first bite was SO salty. I don't know if it was in storage or not fresh, but it was a salt lick. Could not taste the flavor past the saltiness. Good locals place, and prices are reasonable. We had to try the deep fried pickles (excellent, they are spears not chips), but I had to leave most of my fries behind. Also be aware that the sound level can be pretty high making it hard to carry on a conversation without shouting. Service was snappy and efficient - our drinks were kept full. Atmosphere is bar-like with a see-through kitchen. My wife had the fish & chips - excellent. I had the Captain's platter which is a little bit of everything. The shrimp were to die for. The one downside is everything came fried in the same batter & oil, so everything starts to kinda taste the same. We'll be back the next time we get a craving for deep-fried seafood!

I googled "closest Mexican restaurant near me" and this place popped up. Having eaten at the Speedway location and liking it, I opted to try this location. It was 4pm on a Sunday and the parking lot was near-empty. There were several people waiting to be seated when i walked in. I was by myself so I asked if I could sit at the bar. I guess that is a weird request? A server who was cleaning up the dining area helped me with the chips and salsa and then ended up taking my order. I requested the chicken mole enchiladas with a glass of water. My server was gracious. He didn't have many customers but he was busy getting tables ready for the dinner rush. He let me know where there was an AC outlet where I could plug in my phone. I appreciated that gesture. I walked around the restaurant to look at the wall art. The high vault ceiling gives this place a ranchito ambiance. I like the transparent kitchen, too. My meal came out within 10 minutes. The chips and salsa were fresh. The pico de gallo and green salsa were quite good. The mole was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The chicken was finely shredded and the corn tortillas homemade and thick. I ate the entire meal except for some beans. I left very full 45 minutes later. The only thing I didn't care for was the tipping suggestion. I tipped 20% but according to the chit, the 20% included the sales tax. You always tip on the value of the food and not the sales tax! There is also a 3% service fee for using a credit card.

I didn't anticipate that bc I live maybe 6 minutes from this place. I got the fried fish, fried shrimp and Marine tacotote. All tacos came with avocado and premixed coleslaw/mayo, which I didn't know. Fried fish was soggy and the premixed coleslaw and avocado was just too rich and wrong for this taco. I really wish I had known it came like that. I'm used to having a some sort of crema and fresh component like pico or chopped onion and cilantro. Shrimp taco was exactly as described above with the toppings. The shrimp was way way waaayyy over cooked. Marine tacotote was interesting. It had a huge piece of fried fish, 2-3 fried shrimp, and a tomatoe vegetable, cheese medley with a grilled fish on the botttom. It was...nothing like I've ever had. I can't say I enjoyed it bc the coleslaw was too much and it didn't add anything to the taco. The tacos were HUGE. I didn't need to buy 4. The price for what you get is extremely reasonable ($17) I would give it another chance but no coleslaw or avocado and I would eat it there. The people who own this shop are wonderful and kind.
