We walked in on Valentines Day, of all times , and they were super booked up. They had one 2 top left on the patio or seats at the bar. We opted for the bar & were not sorry. The food was incredible! We wanted to eat light, so we ordered to share a dish they are renowned for, Lomo Soltado, & Douglas, who was behind the bar & also waiting done tables on this extremely busy night, suggested adding shrimp to the beef, and it was phenomenal! We asked for a recommendation for another shareable & he highly recommended the Causa Rellena de Camaron--delicious! Sort of a whipped potato stuffed with beef then fried. Very fun! We loved the Pisco Sours, and husband enjoyed a glass of wine with the meal. They had live music outside, which was why we picked the bar, but to our delight it was beautiful soft Peruvian traditional music, which we really enjoyed. Very friendly attentive staff, cute inside & great food! We thought they didn't take reservations, but apparently they do--you may have to call them on the phone though. First time trying Inca's and it was very slow for Sunday lunch. The ambiance is rustic feeling and I love the colorful placemats. My friend is from Peru so he ordered for us. We started with the Chica Mirada to drink which I loved since it wasn't too sweet. I would never have guessed it was made with corn. For entrees we had the Seco de Carne and Lomo Saltado. Both dishes were very flavorful and the beef was so tender. I enjoyed the light but flavorful sauces on both dishes. The prices are extremely high for the small portion sizes. The service was excellent. The whole Diners, Drive Ins and Dive advertising is a little obnoxious. It's on the front of the menu, on a huge sign on the window, and the episode the restaurant was on plays over and over on one of the TVs. The Restaurant Week menu had a Causa Rellena which is Imported yellow potato cakes, stuffed with choice of chicken or shrimp salad...Chilled, we chose shrimp and it was light and flavorful. We also ordered a Papa Rellena, potato stuffed with minced beef and Peruvian spices which came with salsa Criolla....this was delicious as well. Entree...my friend chose the Beef Saltado...overcooked, underseasoned beef strips so chewy as to be unpleasant served over a bed of pasta with onions and peppers in a soup of beef broth and soy sauce. A straight up fail. I had the Ají De Gallina shredded, overcooked chicken breast, in Aji Amarillo and roasted walnuts, served over sliced boiled potatoes. Served with a beautiful pyramid of jasmine rice. The sauce was dense and coated the mouth in a profusion of black pepper essence. I ate all of it...wouldnt eat it again. Papas rellanas was ordered to supplement the Sonoran restaurant week menu which me and a friend ordered. It was GREAT!!!! Perfectly seasoned soft inside and crispy outside potatoe ball/cake with the most deliciously seasoned filling of meat and beans. Just wow. The starter for the Sonoran restaurant week menu was causa rellena shrimp or chicken. We chose shrimp! It was great. It was cold which I wasn't expecting but it had a great fresh flavor and was so so yummy. Everything else was terrible. Aji de gallina The chicken was underseasoned, rice overcooked, mushy and had no salt. What a disappointment. All you could taste was black pepper and maybe one other flavor but I'm not sure bc the color had me wishing I was tasting something else. It looked good but just was not up to par for the first two apps we had. The second dish from the Sonoran restaurant week menu was tallarin saltado beef. This was even less seasoned. The meat was SEVERELY OVER COOKED AND CHEWY!!! I could not believe my taste buds. It was literally hard spaghetti noodles with a soy based sauce that was didn't stick to the noodles at all. I love stopping by here for some unique blends of flavors on the east side of Tucson. This was my third time here (8/9) and the servers are always friendly and fast. This is a small spot especially during the summer when it's not ideal to sit on their patio. I believe they take reservations but for two people on a saturday we got a table right away. My husband and I shared two appetizers the tiraditos clasicos and Papa a la Huancaina. We also shared a main: Seco de Carne. Inca's provides comfortable seating indoors and out with vibrant table decorations and an offering of crisped corn kernels while we perused the menu. Service was attentive and available but not overwhelming. We ordered a yucca fries alongside the causa rellena with vegetables. Fries came with an assortment of tasty sauces. Causa rellena made a great meal with a mix of green beans and carrots between layers of flavorful polenta. The sauce was delicious and pulled it all together. What an amazing experience walking into the well lit patio on a windy chilly night. Dinning on the patio, that was well heated, accompanied the enjoyment we had this day. The food was simply amazing and the portions were excellent sizes. The only thing that could top this dinning experience was our bubbly, wholesome, and informative waitress MONIKA. A name and a standard of service I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Inca's was an absolute joy and definitely a hidden Tucson gem. Delightful Peruvian restaurant with live music on Friday night. Service starts with two bowls of canchats, tasty corn kernel like snacks. Lighter and fluffier than a corn nut but a similar taste. I went for restaurant week. Had the mashed potato and chopped shrimp with mayo appetizer. It was decent. The beef Salado noodles were not great, on par with Panda Express lo mein with a touch of sweetness. By the way, Chifa is the Peruvian fusion of Chinese & Peruvian food, so my Oanda Express analogy is not far off. The ajilo chicken was mushy shredded chicken with a bland yellow sauce. That said, we paid $55 for 2 people for this meal. With 2 non-alcoholic beverages it was over $30 with tip and tax. A bit pricey based on what we got. Service was fast and efficient and the decor was nice. That said, we saw other people order off the menu and their food looked decent. Having been to Peru, my bar may be unreasonable. For me, as a vegan, my experience was three stars but for my meat eating friends they really enjoyed the fish and the shrimp. They were not a big fan of the red meat dish. Their menu is clearly labeled with what is vegetarian but it wasn't clear what was vegan. Some items appeared to have some sort dairy like cheese or cream. I tried the Yucca fries, which were in desperate need of salt and there was no salt on any of the table. The vegan dipping sauce they provided had zero taste for me, it wasn't spicy, it wasn't sweet, it was just super bland and did nothing flavor wise. I went with the quinoa stew for my entree; it was OK but severely lacking any sort of variety. It was mainly quinoa and rice, with a tiny pile of onions and a couple of pieces of corn. It needed more corn, or vegetables or something to break up all that quinoa and rice. The rice was pretty bland but fluffy and soft. We didn't have any cocktails, so I can't speak to that. I think there's a really great opportunity to build out the vegan menu, it just needs a bit more thought to it. As to the ambience, it got really loud and crowded around 6:30, there was live music outside which was nice. The service was good, and our server seemed knowledgeable and very friendly. read more

I'm adding a review of this place because the food is genuinely delicious but I feel something needs to be said about the experience of eating here (ie the reason I'm giving it four stars). I've eaten here a few times and the every time the food has been good. Usually I start off with ceviche and/or tiraditos and then go for a seafood entree (yesterday we had the pescado a lo macho and I literally had to stop myself from overeating it was so good). Service here is always friendly and attentive. My problem with Inca's is the whole diners, drive ins, and dives things. Look, I love that show. I love Guy Fieri. And I totally understand how having your restaurant featured on a show is a BIG deal. However, being at Inca's is like having this fact spammed at you. The same segment of the show replays over and over and over... Which means every single time you go to eat at this restaurant, you are watching the same 10ish minute clip repeatedly (honestly makes me feel bad for the employees who have probably watched this a million times). The restaurant has a gorgeous view of the catalinas... that is almost completely obscured by posters stating that Inca's was on Diners drive ins and dives. It's also in the menu and on a huge banner outside of the restaurant. It's just too much. I feel like this pushes regular customers away because while being on this show might draw someone in the first time, it's not what's going to keep people coming back. I find myself not wanting to eat here not because of the food or service but because I simply do not want to watch that same segment again or have my view of the outside covered with posters. It makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere after a while. To be frank I find it a bit tacky. I am writing this here in hopes that the owner tones this down a bit because they've got something good going on that's being dampened by the Guy Fieri stuff. Maybe have a photo of the owner and Guy Fieri on the wall and mention it in the menu. There's no need for the rest. Let the quality food and service speak for themselves. read more

3 stars are mostly for their service. I've been to this restaurant probably 5 times. Service is always great from every single person working there. They are very attentive. If I'm rating this restaurant only based on their services, I would give them 5 stars. Food on the other hand is a disappointment. Peruvian food is my fav and I can confidently say I know Peruvian food coz I have eaten in sooooo many places including in Peru and my boyfriend is Peruvian. I've never had any food in this restaurant and felt fully satisfied. They are all mediocre. They are not horrible but just not real Peruvian food. First time trying this place with my family. In the same complex right next to another good place Tuk Tuk. Have not had Peruvian food but clearly some Spanish influences. They have a great mix of both seafood and meat dishes. Had dishes ranging from the ceviche to the lomo saltado. All the dishes were very delicious and felt authentic. When on da Saturday afternoons and sat inside. All of the staff were friendly and our waiter was welcoming and nice and helpful. On the night we went they had live music playing outside which was nice to listen to as well. When you sit inside you can really smell the cooking of the food and it's all delicious! 7 of us came here for dinner on a Friday night in November and were surprised that there was only one other person eating there. Overall I was pretty underwhelmed with the portion sizes here. I left starving and I am a small girl. I had a fish dish and it was the tiniest piece of fish I have received in a regular restaurant (non-tasting menu). The chicken was dry and overcooked. I remember everyone telling me when I asked that they weren't happy with their dishes but I forgot to take down specific notes. This is a small quaint restaurant in a shopping plaza in the foothill area of Tucson. It has been visited by Guy Fieri for his Diners, Drive ins, and Dives show. Great view from the outdoor dining of the mountains. The staff is very friendly and explained the drinks and food very well and give suggestions. Start out with a Pisco Sour which are smooth and very nice with a canchita side. We had the Lomo Saltado with added shrimp which was delicious and very flavorful. We went here after noticing good reviews on Yelp and because we were nearby. I was craving seafood so I went with the mixed ceviche, very tasty but super spicy. I wish there was like chips or something else to accompany the dish, instead of that it had a few hominy cold pieces. Not very filling either. My partner decided to go with a yellow linguini pasta topped with a few pieces of steak. Meat was a little chewy but pasta was flavorful. While I'd eaten at Inca's a number of times pre-pandemic, we switched entirely to take out in the past three years. I'd pick up entrees every month or two, and a dish was consistently two meals for me and a filling meal for my husband. We got off our schedule so it had been several months since I'd ordered food yesterday. I was a little stunned at the significant price increase, but proceeded since that's happened a number of places and we do like the food. Imagine my surprise when on top of the price increase, the food portion was half. I easily ate my full meal and hubby ended up making a sandwich after. It was tasty, though not nearly as fresh or flavorful as I'd expected. And I can't image we'll be back when $45 of takeout wasn't a full meal for two adults. read more

Delicious! We started with the Pisco Sour and shared the Mixto Ceviche as an appetizer. The seafood was fresh and every bite was a flavor refresher. For or entree I had the shredded chicken, Aji De Gallina, and my hubby had the Seco Carne, beef dish. He likes his red meat but I have to say the chicken was superb and the sauce was delicate and flavorful. Our daughter had the vegetarian option, Tacu Tacu, and she cleaned her plate. Yum!!! We started dinner with two small bowls of tasty, salted nuts and two glasses of Chicha Morada, a blue beverage made from blue corn, pineapple, apples, lime, and cinnamon. The nuts and Chicha were a great way to get into the dinner mood. For the Chicha, it is sort of like Mulled Cider at the holidays, only served cool. Dinner included an order of Seco de Carne con Frejoles and Jalea de Mariscos. The carne was cooked to fork tender and set in a bed of canary beans. It was delicious. The Mariscos were a delight, with whitefish, mussels, calamari, and shrimp, covered with what I'd describe as a tangy slaw that added an acidic component to the dish...and it was perfect. Triple D was right: Inca is well worth the visit especially if you are looking for a change of pace, great food, and very reasonable prices.
