Angry Crab Shack has some decent choices and decent prices but it didn't live up to the hype I heard or my expectations. The amount you get for the prices paid is pretty bad. Their garlic sauce that it comes in is also not very garlicky at all. It's mostly butter. We got the seafood boil and we were able to make a few substitutions which was nice. The place itself is decent. Lots of room and you can have either a booth or table. Gloves and bibs are provided as well as tools for peeling shrimp, lobster, crab etc. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I am an angry crab after eating food from this cheapskate place, with small portions. $2.00 red potatoes were 2 inches in diameter, about 2 bites. $249.00 for 2 orders of crab legs called "King Crab legs" delivered by Doordash, King crab legs are usually about 2.5 inches in diameter, these are regular, not king size, since they were under 1 inch in diameter. Stay away, a Mother's Day ripoff, very disappointing. Entire dinner delivered in a bag with the garlic sauce on everything, crab, potato, and corn on the cob, too expensive ! The gumbo was spicy and had a kind of a to it instead of a rich flavorful seafood taste, which included sausage, chicken shrimp. I ordered an oyster Poboy to go being from New Orleans. I am used to beautifully grilled oysters with Italian dressing, chopped iceberg, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and onions. The shrimp were good tasting but small and due to the way they cook them they were overcooked but tasted good. The crab was better and not overcooked. Service was fair but failed to remember the details, like added sauces and on one dish added hot sauce when it was ordered without hot sauce. To my surprise I ordered coleslaw and got less than a "handful" for $3 and a very small 1/3 ear of corn. I know that a restaurant needs to make a profit but that is a ridicules profit. Food took forever to arrive. Ordered a fried Calamari appetizer. It was lukewarm and the breading was soggy All-in-all, pretty bad. Since I wanted a lighter lunch, I ordered the Fried tofu with vegetables over garlic noodles. I figured how bad could it be. Worse than I could ever imagine. Tofu cubes were stuck together, hard inside and lukewarm. Vegetables were frozen, and noodles were horribly overcooked, soaked in garlic oil and tasteless. There is currently a special going on for $35.00 bag with King, Queen, and Snow Crab Legs, potatoes and sausage. This is a great deal if you are a crab lover. You can add-on whatever you like. Regular price could add closer to $80+. I added on lobster tails and they were pretty good. Again, the seafood is not the freshest as it is likely frozen, shipped, thawed, maybe frozen again, boiled, etc. So it's best to not go with expectations that crab legs will crack easily. They can be a bit bendy. Scissors helped a lot where the crackers wouldn't. All and all, the crab was very meaty. I did add a little salt to my bag, but still left feeling satisfied enough. I wish I could rate angry crab higher but the second I walked into the women's bathroom it ruined the whole experience for me. The food was good and the service was nice but to have a bathroom that looks the way it does is completely beyond me. I'my looked like it hadn't been cleaned in YEARS. The biggest stales toilet was completely clogged and over flowing, second stall had a giant pile of wet toilet paper on the floor behind the toilet and it was barely hanging on to the floor and smelled horrendous. If you want to do crab, lobster, fish, or shrimp bag dinner, in a true boiled crab fashion the prices start at $125 for two people and the create your own is by the pound. This is one of the worser, not horrible but not great, experiences I've had at Angry Crab Shack. Usually we go to the one on Grant but we hadn't been here since the it was a new location and wanted to check it out. I don't know what was different but the vibe was completely different. The ambience of the Grant location is so much better. The service here was also not very good at all. We were estimated 15 min wait and eventually waited 25+ mins while huge groups were being seated before us even when they arrived after us. I do understand that the table for twos could have not been available until way later but the hostess kept going missing and making new people walking in wait without being helped at all. Once we were sat no one came to take our drink order until about ten minutes later and came back 2 times to ask what drinks we were getting again. Our waiter rarely checked in on us and we got our bags before all of our appetizers were out so it was just a strange experience. The food was the only good thing about coming here. I got 1 pound of snow crab and it seemed like more crab than the Grant location gives so if you are willing to compromise crab meat for service it would be worth it honestly. The hush puppies are so dense and flavorful and absolutely addictive when dipped in ranch. The edamame is a light appetizer and perfectly sauced and not at all spicy either. Cajun french fries are a classic and pairs great with anything you order. So on the food front you can't really go wrong here. read more

My foodie friend and I had been talking about going to the Angry Crab Shack since we first heard they were opening midtown. We kept checking and then kind of forgot and continued enjoying our culinary journey through the Asian nations. Then last week, the inspiration hit so we went for lunch on Monday. Only a few tables of diners were present, so no waiting. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our waiter asked if this were our first visit, and he was helpful, informative, and funny; an enjoyable and helpful addition to our visit. He brought stack of menus: main menus, boil menus, drink menus, and explained the sandwiches, baskets, and boils. The boils are really interesting, and diners choose the broth, sauce, level of spiciness, and what seafood, potato, and vegetables will be included. We started with the jalapeño cornbread hush puppies. They were crispy on the outside, soft inside, and had a nice kick, served with ranch dipping sauce. Several lunch specials are only $15, including a crab and shrimp boil that sounds amazing. We both, not surprisingly since we tend to be taste twins, chose the soft-shell crab basket. Two nice-sized fried crabs nestled into the basket with a ton of Cajun fries. Lots of reviewers recommended the Cajun fries, which proved to be as crispy and deliciously seasoned as advertised. Spicy Cajun mayo is served for the crab and fries. Yum! The basket comes with an additional side; my bud had cole slaw and I had grits, creamy and delicious. Much too much food for lunch, though, and I took half of mine home. The Angry Crab has perfected the frying process with the ideal balance of crisp and tender, without a trace of greasiness. But it was a lot of fried food. We will definitely go back, but next time I think I'll try the shrimp and crab boil or the lobster rolls (not the fried one!). The entrance to the restaurant faces Broadway and parking is mostly in the back, with a limited number of handicapped and regular spaces on the west. So it's a bit of a distance from the closest parking to the front door. Immediately adjacent to the handicapped parking is a door marked for exit only, but it would be helpful if that door could also be used for entering. read more

My Wife and I went here opening day. She is the seafood person and she was very excited to try this place. When we went the wait was not too long and as we were sat down our server came up it was very friendly. She made recommendations and was very knowledgeable. Overall I would say the Service was great and the food was eh. I had the cheeseburger, the only non seafood dinner and some clam chowder. My Burger tasted pretty good, however the clam chowder was just ok. My wife ordered the seafood bucket with the snow crab legs, potatoes, shrimp, corn on the Cobb and an egg. Also she added on the lobster tail for an extra $16 and she said it seemed small. Overall she said the crab legs didn't have much meat. For Tucson, you can't charge $100 for 2 people. The floors were sticky and it looked like there was a layer of filth. I saw the actual floor peeking underneath the layers of filth. The toilets were so filthy and black Mold was inside the toilets. The doors had a layer of filth. It seems like they only replace the toilet paper and soap but never clean the place. Please clean the toilets and mop the restaurants floors. Took awhile To get to this spot on my list. Now I wonder why! I was afraid it would be over the top expensive. Expensive yes but not over the top. Putting together your own boil bag with seasoning and heat level makes endless combinations and market prices were fair. Really liked the idea of adding what we wanted so we could avoid unwanted extra carbs. Service was a little slow, but friendly and casual; we weren't in a hurry to savor the tastes. Food was cooked just right with succulent scallops being a good indication they know what they're doing. We'll come back, if not for seafood then for the super crunchy fried pickles and some just right wings! Oh and the cheesecake. Well worth sharing the carbs for a taste of an amazing desert. We came on a slow Monday evening to get the Crab Boil for 2. The service wasn't too friendly but I wouldn't say it was bad. The ambiance is quite laid back and borderline gaudy. The booths and anywhere that could be written on- was heavy on graffiti and customer signatures. It had its own shack charm. Cut to the food- DELICIOUS. We highly recommend getting the trifecta sauce and getting it mild flavor. The lobster tails were big, juicy, and cooked perfectly, and the crab legs had nice thick pieces of meat inside! I have been craving fried shrimp for several months and just couldn't find any that satisfied that craving so today we came here in the hopes it would. I'm happy to say it did just that. I ordered the shrimp basket and Bobbie got the fish and chips. They both came with cajun fries and I got coleslaw while she got potato salad. The shrimp was butterflied and dredged in panko then fried to a golden crisp. Her fish was cod battered and also fried. The shrimp were jumbo in size and I got 6 of them. Her fish came with 3 large pieces. Both my shrimp and her fish were fried perfectly and came out quite hot. My coleslaw was some of the best I've had, a lot of places don't put enough dressing on it but this one was nicely sauced and delicious, about the only thing that would have made it better is if they put poppy seeds in it. Poppy seeds give coleslaw a nice bite when you bite it and the flavor of them adds to the overall taste. Her potato salad had large pieces of potatoes cooked perfectly with good flavor. The cajun fries had a nice covering of spices and were very good. Our server, Juan, was very attentive and even got us iced tea to go when we left.
