Marion's is my favorite pizza available on planet earth. Many would disagree with me because what I find good about it is exactly the opposite of what others want in a pizza...Marion's goes lighter on the cheese. A pizza overloaded with cheese (eg. Chicago style) is way too rich for me and "sits heavy" on my stomach afterwards. But Marion's has the proportions set perfectly for my taste. My favorite pie that they make is the Deluxe. The sausage they use is the best I've ever tasted on a pizza. I grew up eating Marion's and nothing else can measure up. Most of the Marion's locations are in the Dayton area (thus, their moniker of serving "Dayton-style" pizza). This particular location is the northernmost of the nine shops in this Southwest Ohio chain. It is off the main drag when exiting the highway, so it's easy to miss if you don't know where to look. The handsome brick facade houses the signature Italian piazza decor, which is the same interior found at all other Marion's. I was very pleased to find that this Marion's had returned to open hours until 11 PM on a Saturday and was allowing indoor dining. On the other hand, we stopped at 9 PM and it was sad to see a nearly empty dining room. In normal times, it would be nearly full on a weekend evening with kids running around amidst a festive atmosphere. There are certain things that just remind us that we have truly allowed COVID to rob our joy! The staff were polite and efficient. My wife and I split a side salad and shared a small deluxe pizza. We still had enough left over to take home for a snack. At less than $16 (less than $8 apiece), the deal was unbeatable. Went to Marions in Troy today. I ordered a deluxe dinner salad, a rueben, and a large soda pop. I paid at the cashier when I placed my order. I asked for my dinner salad "up front", realizing my rueben would take awhile. I went to the beverage counter and requested a large Dr. Pepper, light ice. The man and lady behind the counter were spoiling for a fight. They demanded proof of payment for the large soda. I tried giving the lady my receipt, however, she fumbled it, and it landed in the ice cooler. They were really upset by this, I was not about to let them kick me around. Why in the world would I try to beat them out of a large soda anyway? The man gave me a few choice words, I suppose he has never learned along the way that the customer is always right. I barked back at them that I would call the Police, that got their minds right! No more nasty bad mouth from either of them. I took my seat after picking up my deluxe dinner salad at the main counter. I finished my salad, within 15 minutes. I then waited another 45 minutes for my rueben. At one point, after about 30 minutes I went to the front counter to inquire about my rueben. A lady said they had trouble with the bread tearing? It shouldn't be too much longer. This got me to thinking, did the beverage team notify the food counter about me and this was a deliberate action to "get even" so to speak. I dont ever plan to return to Marions in Troy, I would never let them try to humiliate and embarrass me again over a paper cup of soda pop! My only regret is that I didn't call the cops. read more

I am baffled by any low reviews here. Marion's piazza is hands down, the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Overall, I am not usually a huge fan of thin crust pizza. They do it perfectly here! It is so perfectly crispy. My favorite pizza to order here is pepperoni/sausage. The sausage is my favorite part! They don't to the big, circular chunks of sausage like most pizza joints. It is a tiny, crumbled sausage that gets a little crisp to it in the oven. I admittedly can't eat as much as I used to when I was younger, but I will eat a whole pizza from Marion's every time. We stopped at this spot to have family with a large group. The staff was very welcoming and the restaurant was clean. They can be a little confusing when ordering here for the 1st time because you must 1st order your pizza and pay and then go to a second counter to order your drinks and pay again. Once you place your order, you wait for your number to be called and pick up your food at the counter. They also have a game room with arcade style games and they even have a closed off room that you can rent for parties. We enjoyed ourselves and the pizza was good. read more

Was in town with my children and husband and excited for them to have Marion's pizza! They were happy to finally taste what all of my Oh friends and I talk about. We were sorely disappointed! I don't know if it's the location, this is my first time at Troy location and I'll never go back to this Marion's. I moved to the area about a year ago. Since moving here all people have talked about is going to Marion's. It has been hyped up so much by so many people to me. So I finally got the time to drive over to Troy and check it out. First off the exterior of the building and parking lot are very nice. It's clean and has plenty of space. Walking inside the first thing you notice is how open it is. If you have a large group they could easily accommodate you. One thing I hate about going to new places is not knowing the layout. When you enter there are 2 separate counters. First is the drinks which includes pop, tea, and a few beers. To the right is the order counter. I walked up, a nicely dressed man took my order. He gave me a receipt which had a number, 175 in this case. You simply go find a table and they will call out your number on the speaker system. Walk up to the drink counter and pay for your drinks separate from the food. I imagine when they are very busy that this helps with the traffic. Now that we have logistics out of the way, the food. I ordered a pizza with mushrooms and sausage. I heard my number called out and walked up to the counter where they have an "order pickup" sign. When my pizza came out it was very hot, sitting on a square of cardboard. The pizza is cut into very small squares which I do like. If you have a big mouth like me they could be considered bite size. I will say now that after all the hype, I am thoroughly disappointed in my pizza. It's a thin crust which I do like. But there was seemingly no sauce, the sausage had an unusual favor and looks as though it was extruded into the size of grains of rice. The mushrooms were obviously from a can/no love. I was so disappointed. With that being said the pizza is not bad. But for how much hype was given it did not match. Maybe this was just a matter of personal preference. Maybe if I got a different topping from sausage (although this is my favorite), it would be better for me. I don't know. I will probably give Marion's another try in the future. read more

Staff was friendly and somewhat helpful. I found it odd that there were no beverage choices for kids besides soda but there was a multitude of alcohol choices....including forties of beer?!?!? Things I appreciate about Marion's: There is a large seating area for parties and the prices are decent to cheap for a large quantity of food. The downside is that I don't much care for their pizza. It seems tasteless to me, and it's only technically pizza because it's meat, veggies, cheese, and sauce, served on dough. All the components to a pizza are there, so where is Marion's pizza lacking? Typical Marion's pizza restaurant. Place your order, wait for number to be called, get up and take your pizza back to table. It was clean and the workers were pleasant. We ordered a supreme pizza extra crispy. It was good - not sure why the crust here is unusual and I can only describe it as a smoky flavor. I like the crust and think it makes the pizza. Not much sauce on their pies but you can order extra. My dining partners like less sauce so they were happy with it. I don't like that the drinks must be purchased separately from the food order but that is how all the Marion's do it. Lots of kids and families and guests of all ages - even a few people eating at tables alone. Plenty of parking was available in the lot. It's Dayton Pizza folks. It has toppings all the way to the sides with no big doughy crust and yes it's cut into squares. It is a pizza created and loved in Dayton for over 50 years. Is it Dayton's best? That up for debate, but this pizza is much better than any frozen pizza by any stretch of the imagination.
