This place is your typical pizza joint. Good food, good price, good for family time. Do not expect gourmet dinner or super long beer selection because this is not the kind a restaurant this is. I have been here several times and it is great for big groups as they have a separate private room but it is also great for smaller groups or families. You basically order the pizza and they call your number and you go get it and sit down, no mess no fuss :) They also have other things in the menu other than pizza but I have not had any of them. The pizza itself is great! It is thin and square shaped and they cut the pieces small. I haven't had bad pizza here. This review is based solely on the SERVICE I received at this particular location. The food is not what I based my rating on. At the beverage counter, I received the worst example of customer service I have ever experienced. I bought a 2 liter to-go with our pizza. I asked the beverage clerk if I could have a couple cups of ice to have with it. He grabbed the water courtesy cups (which are tiny and have no lids) and put about 3 ice cubes in each of them. He then slammed them down, huffed and walked away. I said excuse me sir...could I please have cups with lids?? He rolls his eyes, snatches the cups out of my hands, slams them down, grabs 2 of the regular sized cups, dumps the 3 ice cubes from the courtesy cups into each cup, Frisbee tosses 2 lids at me and AGAIN walks away. By this point I realized - this kid is just being insanely rude for no reason. So I told him that I would gladly pay for the cups if that is the problem, but could I please have both cups FULL of ice. I swear I have never seen anyone so violently put ice in a cup...but I swear to you...this kid filled each cup about 1/3 of the way this time. What was he trying to prove exactly? I had been extremely kind to him. Even my daughter was looking at me like WTH?!! I ended up waiting until he was done with his tantrum and then promptly went to the manager behind the counter. I recanted the story to him (I wish I had gotten both of their names) and politely asked the manager if I could please have a full cup of ice for my daughter and I. He immediately obliged, gave me 2 extra full cups of ice, and apologized. But the next time I went in there...I witnessed the same kid...treating an older couple the same way. That really disappointed me. I am a fan of this pizza (I recommend the super cheese) and I have dined at several of their other locations. At the other locations - which have been there longer - you can request it be baked in the "old oven"...cooks it much better. This location is not old enough to have an "old oven." If this is Dayton's best... I'm not a fan of the flat thin crust pizza in general so I'm a bit biased. I enjoy a more hand tossed NY style pizza or a sheet style pizza (which isn't really sold around here). Having said that Marion's pizzas are a mass produced or batch produced disc of thin dough with uninspired toppings with a very crispy bottom. But even with my bias, I have had fairly decent thin crust pizza, but this is far far from good. A frozen French bread pizza is better. read more

Extremely poor service, no toilet paper in the bathrooms, nobody ever came to our tables (we were with our soccer team) to clean anything up...just awful. People have been talking this place up for years, and now that one has come to my home town, well naturally we had to try it out. It happens to be the biggest Marion's to date, and I must say, the size was over whelming. The set up seemingly a little strange, as you order pizza or subs at one spot and then drinks at another, I deemed must be more for convenience than anything else. This being said, you don't get unlimited drink refills. So it would be a pain in the kazoo to keep the meal line packed with people needing more to drink (oh and they offer beer, wine, and some mixed style drinks (aka Seagrams, Smirnoff... to name a few) on top of the typical soda pop. I say go for the pitcher of liquid refreshments..... Now on to the pizza. We ordered the house deluxe and a sausage / pepperoni special, and I have to admit comparing it to Godfathers, or Hoagies.... I give this a middle of the road. yeah! I cant figure what everyone has been talking this pizza up so much over the years, but then again I AM Italian, so maybe I have a harder line of what I really think is good. It may be for some people, but I would be hard pressed to want to make this a regular stop. Sorry Marion's, you dont get into my top 5 pizza places. read more

Pizza isn't too bad, probably about average. There sausage is very good though. Not a fan of the drink ordering system. It always seems chaotic in this place with all of the kids and large families in there. read more

Have had marions pizza before and it's been great. We are from out of town and we're looking forward to pizza from here as there is not one in our area. We were very disappointed. I have heard people talk about this pizza for years and thought we would give it a try. Do not waste your money, I have had frozen pizza that is way better! I also had a sub, which had the cheapest lunchmeat, it had no taste at all. The sub maybe had one table spoon of sauce and 2 banana peppers on a 12 inch sub. The outside is beautiful, but the tables chairs and ordering system inside is no different than Ci-Ci's just more expensive. No refills on drinks, and you have to stand and hold your tray of food while waiting for a table to clear, as they had three of their four eating areas closed. Will never eat there again! read more

I had pizza from this Marion's twice in one week, and I have to say that it was a home run both times. Marion's is unlike anything else when it comes to quality, and the staff could not have been more friendly. I loved that they had my favorite pop, Big Red, just to make it even better. Definitely try a Marion's pizza with its signature sausage. Just get a large. There's no such thing as not wanting more. read more

I don't get it. After hearing all kinds of hype about this place, the actual visit was anticlimactic. We got a small pizza, half pep/sausage, the other half ham/sauerkraut (a recommendation from a friend). No jokes, the pizza was so reminiscent of Totino's. Aside from the sauerkraut, which didn't add any magic to the pie. We also got a Submarine, which was okay (and overpriced for just being okay). Fresh bread, various deli meats - one of which looked too much like Spam for comfort), tomato sauce, and banana peppers. No free drink refills on fountain drinks. *hideous* carpet - I mean eye-burning. Otherwise the interior's nice. Small game room with about 8 games. read more

Absolutely ridiculous! Friday night and this place has RESERVED 3/4 of the dining area for groups. No where to sit but they are certainly taking orders and money. Food has always been a bit overpriced but no where to sit made tonight a crap experience. When we got a refund on the tax to get the order to go we were told "that's the way be do it". Still best pizza in Dayton area. I am also a big fan of their tuna boat sub -- something you don't find at many piazzas. I also appreciate that they have stuck with the thin crust over the years. And that a side salad is available -- much better with pizza than the sweet items that are all some of the other pizza restaurants have to offer. read more

I do not like this place. It's extremely expensive for mediocre pizza. I've only been once, and will never go back. They don't even offer breadsticks, just expensive slices of Texas toast. I was in Troy overnight, from California, probably the one and only time I'll be there. I love to try local pizza when I'm traveling and was torn between Marion's and Al's. I liked the pictures of Marion's pizza that I had found on the internet so I went there. I had a large pizza, with onions, peppers and black olives. The toppings, except for the olives (canned, but that's OK), were cut very small, something I've only encountered once before. I found the crust to be a bit underdone, but that gave it a chewiness I would probably come to appreciate more over time. The cheese and crust were crispy and well done around the edges, which saved it for me. The pie had a very nice look, and it made a great meal on a cold winter night, especially since I had to walk a mile or so in the snow from the hotel. With two draft Yengling beers, I could not finish the whole pie, but that beer went with it perfectly. I wish I had the opportunity to try some more combinations. read more

The pizza is delicious. We got the pepperoni and sausage and were not disappointed. The set up is a huge open room, so very convenient for families and people having birthday parties and showers. if i could rate this restaurant lower i would. i called and placed an order for a pizza and picked it up. upon inspection the man that took my order put the wrong toppings on it. i called back and talked to him and he then argued with me, telling me i was incorrect. i then asked for the manager and he hung up on me. i called back and asked for the manager again and he once again hung up on me. i finally got ahold of the manager and they said that they were short staffed and had no choice but to call him in to work. i recommend that they find some competant work force. read more

I ordered a cheese pizza. I read a review before I went that said they've had better frozen pizza. It's true, sadly. Probably won't be here again. It's definitely an interesting set-up but not that great for food. The people working were all nice.
