Chicken piccata, huge portion but overall just okay
    Liz P.

3.5 out of 5 so I will round up to four. I went here today with my husband, parents, and aunt, she had made a reservation. We split the stuffies as an appetizer and also the stuffed mushrooms. My aunt commented that both had too many breadcrumbs in it and I agree. We all got different meals, three of us got seafood dishes and my mom and I both got the chicken piccata. The portion was definitely huge, I'm a big fan of chicken piccata normally and I thought this was okay. I do have a ton of pasta left over, though. My husband got the seafood casserole and I think overall enjoyed it. For his sides he got the mixed veggies and the onion rings, and I think the onion rings were my favorite part of the entire meal, they came in a huge basket and they were delicious and perfectly fried. Waitservice was friendly and our group drink a lot of water so she ended up bringing carafes for us which was nice. It was a little hot in the area we were sitting, also, but to be fair it was about 92 to 95° out today, which is atypical for Rhode Island. They had a box AC unit but you could tell it was working hard to keep up. Overall I would maybe come back here again when in the area but I would probably order a sandwich or something different.

The cocktails were amazing. Espresso martini and promagranite martini.

I went for the first time and was delicious. Plenty of parking. I did make a reservation and they sat us right away. Nice booth seating. Our waitress Lauren was amazing. The cocktails were fabulous. I got the espresso martini which was delicious. The portions are huge so had some dinner the next day too. I had the chicken parm and instead of pasta I got two of their sides mashed potatoes and asparagus. The chicken parm was excellent. Check their social media on Facebook since they had a deal for January that you got a free shrimp tempura appetizer with entree purchase. It was delicious. We shared the chocolate flourless cake and more desserts I want to try. It was a great night.

Great big portions, decent prices. Excellent drink menu including unique local hard seltzers and beers. Good service, pretty accommodating. Big spot, good for kids and takes reservations.

Have been here many times and always enjoy. We went to grab a bite on 4th of July. Sat at a high top in the bar. We ordered lobster roll, drunken scallops, seared ahi, and seafood casserole. All were delicious and priced fairly. Only reasons for one star off was that it was pretty slow (i assume most people were at the beach or BBQ) and we had two different waiters for our service. The first seemed high and seemed confused for our drink order...2 bloody Marys and 2 Whalers... and the second never brought water even though we asked many times. Went up to the bar to get a water and the bar tender was really busy chatting with a customer. Finally got one water... Usually service is superb so maybe they were just off today. Nothing that would deter us from going back.

This is a great space and time for local food. Staff are always friendly and they deliver high quality and value. They take credit cards but they do have a 3.5% charge versus cash.

My wife and I are becoming bit of regulars at the bar. We feel kind of spoiled by this place, often comparing anywhere else we go to Mariner and wishing we were back there instead. It seems to fly under the radar, being in a plaza and having been around for so long it that I don't think it draws a much of a new crowd. But instead is kept up by a steady and sometimes overwhelming crew of regulars. It's hard to say no when the food is so delicious, consistent, priced decently with near Marchetti's sized portions. Couple that with good/great bartenders, very generous pours and a diverse menu and specials. It might be an older crowd but that says something about what this place is doing. I truly believe that to be successful a restaurant has to have 3 - 4 of these five things: Great Service, Great Food, Reasonable Prices, Strong Drinks & Great Location. Mariner Grille has got at least four of them.

Big portions for the price. I had fresh fish which was mild and pleasant. Service, ambience and drink menu (Rhode Island beer and hard seltzer!) are good.

Mariner Grille is always one of our go to spots on this side of the bridge. We are leave full and happy. eave. The menu has an assortment of options and many things can be made gluten free. Recently we came with friends and there was a month long special for a free calamari with any entree purchase. The table sampled 3 different varieties and they all were a big hit. (Unfortunately there were not gluten free). Our server was very friendly and informative. Looking forward to coming back!

Holy cow, the portions here are amazing and the prices are reasonable. All of our orders were huge and delicious. I had the chicken Parmesan with angel hair, so good! My entree will be 4 meals! Our server was great - helpful and outgoing. We sat in the main dining area though I'm told the bar area is really fun.

In town and had a craving for seafood. In the Mariner plaza in Narragansett, easy parking. We sat at a high top in the bar area and our waiter was also the bartender. He was beyond good, he created the welcome feel. We had seafood scampi that was loaded with clams and big scallops. My wife had risotto with scallops. Almost forgot to mention the appetizer! Coconut shrimp with and orange marmalade sauce. Omg! We don't live close but vowed to make this a trip more regularly.

Blackened tuna salad with goat cheese, candied walnuts and a citrus vinaigrette- took home half for lunch- so good!

We drove up to the building and there really is nothing special about it, very few windows and some over grown trees in the parking lot. I didn't have high hopes. When entering into the restaurant the appearance of the bar and dining area was actually decent. Wood floors, wooden tables and a nice atmosphere at the bar. There was a bit of a cleaning supply/bar smell when you first walk in. Again I wasn't expecting much. The kids ordered a small Caesar salad and pasta with butter as their main dish. My husband and I both ordered the marinated grilled chicken with vegetables and potato. A fresh hot loaf of bread with butter was placed on the table right away. It was definitely out of the oven hot and delicious. The kids devoured most of it and we ordered a second one. The waitress, Grace was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed for the table. I have to say the service was excellent as expressed on other reviews. Definitely a plus with kids! Our kids devoured the Caesar salad. It had fresh lettuce, shredded cheese, croutons and well mixed in dressing. They loved it! When our main dishes arrived, it looked promising, two pieces of nicely grilled chicken on the dish. When I tasted it, I was impressed! It was delicious! Perfectly grilled, not rubbery, and very tasty. The meal came with a side sauce of our liking. I chose the lemon butter on recommendation of the waitress. Perfectly paired! The kids pasta and butter was buccatini and was nice and hot, with a side of potato chip fries. Very good and very unique. They ate it all! Overall, ChopHouse Grille exceeded my expectations. While it isn't on the same level as a special occasion restaurant like the Coast Guard House, it offers solid food, excellent service, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We never felt out of place dining with our kids, and the staff made the experience easy and enjoyable. I would definitely return to try one of their steaks next time. If you're looking for a comfortable spot for a family dinner with consistently good food and service, I'd happily recommend giving it a try.

The taste was nothing like a good steakhouse French onion soup. The cheese was off and the broth was a totally different flavor profile. The croutons were soggy. Only had a few spoonfuls and I was done with that. The New York strip was cooked well but could use a little more char. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were fine. Soda was flat and flavorless. Why can't restaurants ever get soda right? Like I said. Hit or miss. I won't be back.

I think they make their own buffalo sauce and i detected that they used butter (which is always a good thing). Not too hot but a kick. The pasta and meatballs were good. Upon our 5:30 p.m. arrival, my wife and I were immediately seated in the far corner of the outdoor patio. From the beginning, the host's demeanor came across as cold and dismissive. When she told us to "enjoy," her tone made it clear she didn't mean what she said. When our waitress arrived, she wanted to explain what the daily specials were, but before she began, we politely asked if we could move to another section of the patio so we could sit in the sun. After speaking with the host, she returned with what I can only describe as a smart-ass attitude, saying, "Those tables are for people who actually have reservations." We completely understood if those tables were reserved, but there was absolutely no reason for the condescending attitude. Instead, we were moved to another corner table, and after the host decided to tell us "enjoy" with the same condescending tone. Once we sat down, I asked the waitress if she could explain the daily specials, but then she quickly replied, "now that we're at a different table, the other waitress/waiter will have to do that" since it wasn't her "zone". As we sat there, we couldn't help but notice what appeared to be a noticeable difference in how other guests were treated. The tables that gave off what I would describe as a more "upper class" appearance, well-dressed white guests who appeared more affluent, seemed to receive a warmer welcome and far more attentive service. Whether that was intentional or not, we couldn't shake the feeling that we were viewed differently. I'm white myself, but perhaps my tattoos or the fact that I was dining with my Brazilian wife caused us to be perceived differently. I honestly don't know. What I do know is that we left feeling like we didn't fit the restaurant's idea of its preferred clientele. For example, our waitress never offered us the option of tap or bottled water, while nearby "upper class" tables were given that choice. Around 6:10 p.m., we ordered appetizers, which took roughly 20 minutes to arrive, while tables seated after us were already receiving their food. We then placed our entrée orders and waited... and waited... and waited. In addition, we found a hair in the salad that we ordered, and when we brought it up to the waitress, her only answer was "that's impossible, everyone in the kitchen wears hairnets... At approximately 6:40 p.m., the hostess came to our table and explained there had been a "mix-up" because we had switched tables, causing our entrée order to be delayed. That explanation made very little sense. How does simply switching tables result in an order being delayed by that much? It pointed to a serious lack of communication between the front of the house and the kitchen. By approximately 6:50 p.m., I believe a manager came to our table and asked if there was anything he could do. At that point, I bluntly asked for the check because waiting well over an hour for our food was simply unacceptable. Ironically, our entrées finally arrived around 7:00 p.m., but by then we had completely lost our appetite. I sent the food back and again requested the check. Even then, it still took another 10 minutes to receive it. To the hostess's credit, she apologized, and I told her I appreciated the apology. However, I also explained that this restaurant clearly has a major communication problem. More importantly, the dismissive attitude we experienced from the moment we walked in set the tone for the entire evening and left us feeling unwelcome. In a nutshell: We waited an hour and a half for our food we never received, we were mistreated, felt discriminated, and there were still PLENTY of open tables in the patio facing the sun. This was our first visit to Narragansett, and unfortunately it was not the welcome we expected. I didn't even bother asking if the restaurant offered a military discount because, by that point, I already felt like we didn't belong. We will NEVER return.
