We arrived on a Sunday evening to find that our reservation (for 4) probably wasn't necessary - the restaurant is huge, and had plenty of available tables. (Great space for a large party or event) And yet the atmosphere - modern art, white table cloths, ornate metal lanterns, was still welcoming. Portions are generous, and I'd recommend sharing. Four of us had the mathloothah with chicken, the fahsa & saltah with beef (one dish), and the susi, and still had leftovers. Food is excellent. The fahsa & saltah, a stew with tender shredded beef in an aromatic sauce, came with gigantic pieces of "tanwory" (like tandoor) bread, and was my favorite. The chicken in the mathloothah was cooked to perfection and served with rice mixed with onions and chicken fat. Although it didn't pack the flavor of the fahsa & saltah, the susi, a non-sweet bread pudding, was hearty. Our server was wonderful too. Very pleasant Sunday lunch here last week. They had one table where you could sit on a sofa to eat. All of the food and drinks (coffee and tea) (see pics) were so flavorful and delicious! What a lovely gem of a place that I never would have found without Yelp! The restaurant's quite large and it seems like there's a buffet setup for lunch (if only I lived closer by because I bet it's incredible). I had a truly lovely first dinner here and can't wait to go back. Service was friendly and attentive, and our server seemed to genuinely want to ensure that we were happy with our meal, which we really were. The portions are quite large so definitely share if your table is willing to do so (also sharing is caring!). Here's what I tried: - FAHSA & SALTAH: Savory, warming stew with shredded beef and veggies, perfect to eat with the light and crispy tanwory bread (which was an oven-baked bread similar but less oily than naan). My table was jockeying politely for the last morsels of this dish. I'll definitely get it the next time I visit. - LIVER: Comes out on a hot plate like you'd get at a texmex place when you order fajitas, with strips of tender liver and veggies. It was delicious. - MATHLOOTHAH with chicken: Long-grained rice with some saffron and seemingly bits of buttery meat fat in the rice (a tad heavy for me but others at the table loved it), and on top, perfectly tender chicken (both light and dark meat) with a delicious gravy. - SUSI: This was like a big french toast/bread pudding egg bake that comes with honey on the side. It's quite tasty but for me, less interesting than the rest of the stews and dishes. I'd probably skip it next time, but it is a really delicious dish. Marib is soooo delicious! its like having a Yemeni personal chef, the food is so tasty and made with love, you can taste the heart that goes into it! I was lucky enough to go with a Yemeni friend who knew his way around the menu and we loved the haneeth and mandi, but my absolute favorite is the fahsa (a bubbling beef stew, also maybe the only beef on the menu). The desserts are definitely worth trying out because they are so different than the Levantine desserts people often associate with Arabic food. The bint al sahn is huge and amazing! I love Yemeni's food and Morabaq is my favorite. I ordered a pick up via their website and the restaurant was empty. The customer service was fine she asked me to wait till the Motabaq is ready. First visit for dinner. Had a wonderful experience. Very nice, welcoming people from the front of the house to the last person who served us. The food was tasting VERY delicious and in big portions. We had Lamb liver, Lamb with Hummus and Shafout appetizer, Bread, Lime with mint drink, Mint black tea and Fattah-B'tamr-WA-SAL-Qushtah for dessert. Everything was outstanding in taste. The prices were quite reasonable, and the ambiance was nice and cozy with beautiful I guess Yemeni music on the background. If you haven't tried Marib yet, you are missing out. This mid-sized Yemeni restaurant has a great menu and wonderful, warm service. We tried the vegetable stew, hummus, chopped salad and bint alsahn for dessert. It was excellent! The stew was served boiling hot (perfect, since it was cold today). It was delicious. Full of vegetables and hot peppers. Salad was enough for two. The hummus was good but the homemade bread was outstanding. The dessert was a presentation!! It comes out crisp and airy. After it deflated, honey was poured over and then cut and rolled up. Our server was fantastic. He was very patient and explained the dishes to us. Give this great restaurant a try. It's really unfortunate that the owner doesn't care about the quality of the food his restaurant serves. We've been going to this restaurant for a few years now. We always try to support local small businesses. Last time we ordered food, the quality wasn't like it was when it first opened. We figured it may be an off night, but tried again and still no improvement. We decided, we will give one more try but make sure we notify the owner (Ahmed). The food here was truly amazing! I went with two friends, we ordered fool, Falafel, baba ghanoush, tahini, fatoush, chicken mindi, Fatiha and saltah. So much food! We ate, ate then ate some more. We had this amazing tea, two pots of it, it was delicious! What a fantastic experience. Came here for my dads 65th birthday during covid times. They were very accommodating and placed us in a section far away from other patrons. Everything felt very clean and safe. We first ordered hummus with chicken and the baba ganoush - both were divine but there was something extra special about the baba ganoush. We knew from the moment we tasted the appetizers and how the mint lemonade brought us back to our trip to Lebanon (until today we had yet to find a place that was able to replicate it), the entrees would far exceed our expectations. Each dish had it's unique flavor with perfectly tender meat. This restaurant really knows how to season and serve their Lamb! We ordered chicken haneeth, saltah, fassah, qualabah lamb -- recommend them all. The saltah is a great vegetarian option Overall, with the flavors and the Arabic music softly playing in the background, it felt as though we were able to travel to the Middle East to enjoy an amazing dinner. We thought hummus was excellent, lime juice was refreshing and we wanted chicken Mandi but they were out. My wife and kids aren't too much into meat so the 1 hour trip to this place was not worth it. On the menu there are three sizes ....I picked the half for $19...the guy told me it's for 6 ppl....I said ok. I've been here twice and had a good experience overall. I've had the chicken mandi which is rice served with a big piece of chicken. The chicken was a little on the dry side and the rice was lacking in flavor. The chicken was flavorful but has a lot of bones in it so it can be a lot of sifting through until you get to the meat. An alumni eating group in which I participate has been conducting a "Travel Ban Tour" - we have been dining at restaurants serving cuisines ofr the seven countries on the original Trump travel ban. Our dinner at Marib was the final stop on the tour, and an excellent capstone it was. Yemeni food is highly varied and even though we were a party of 19 I left feeling there were parts of the menu that I had not yet tried, so my wife and I are definitely planning to come back. The highly touted Shafoot appetizer: a spongy bread not unlike injera, covered with a greenish yogurt sauce, was certainly different but after a few bites I had had enough. The sambousa, by contrast, were excellent and I was glad there were extra. The Yemeni salad - an agglomeration of chunks of lettuce, carrots, cukes and and tomatoes -- was just fine. Then it was onto the main dishes - highlight was the various forms of mandi and hannesh - respectively chicken, lamb and lamb shank that arrived on a bed of an especially long-grained variety of rice along with browned onions, plus a dish that was advertised a being a sort of French toast casserole but seemed to m to be more like a souffle. There were a couple of soup-like stews that arrived in cast-iron bowls, boiling furiously, one made of vegetables and one with shredded lamb. And the bread was excellent - it arrived piping hot in large round sheets. Considering that we were eating in a Muslim restaurant, there were ni alcoholic beverages, but the lime juice with sugar and mint (pureed and strained, I believe) was refreshing, and so tasty that we couldn't have too much of it We all had a single dessert - a sheet of multilevel puff pastry, folded over and topped with honey and nigella seeds. It arrived looking puffed like a puri (see the photo), but collapsed as it was cut into wedges for serving. There was a black tea pleasantly flavored, and something described as coffee (which I don't drink) but this was light-colored and seemed to me to be more of a spice-brew than coffee. For all this food, the cost was $25 including tax and tip. The crowd was mixed, with a good number of Yemeni families eating with their small children. The food was fantastic! There's a bread dish that says "best with honey" ... O! M! G! It is delicious and is certainly best with honey! Everything we ordered was extremely flavorful. Highly recommended for take out during COVID (not sure if they're open for indoor seating yet). Be careful with some of the meat dishes as the meat still has bones - that's my only negative. I hate to give bad reviews, particularly during COVID, but we had a pretty terrible experience today. We ordered online for pick up and when we went to pick up, nobody was there. We waited for 20 minutes after pick up time. When they finally showed up, the woman working there was unmasked and did not even try to put a mask on or distance herself - talking directly to us like it wasn't a problem. They finally put in the order - and unfortunately we couldn't cancel because we already paid. The person cooking in the back also wasn't wearing a mask either. When we finally did get our food - 40 minutes after the original pick up time and potentially contaminated with unmasked cooks and staff - the food itself wasn't that great either so wouldn't even be worth returning in non-COVID times. Very disappointed in the complete lack of COVID precautions and procedures. read more

Came here again after a few years and I'm happy to say it still doesn't disappoint. Dining room quiet on a Sunday during lunchtime, service was attentive & friendly. *Sambousa with meat: These are basically samosas but they're a lot less spiced & pungent, and more light tasting, than the ones I'm used to eating in the South Asian restaurants. Very enjoyable. *Lamb / Chicken Mandi: This looks a lot like what would be called a biryani at other restaurants, but mandi is the Yemeni version. The meat is fall-off-the-bone tender, delicately spiced but not at all bland. Comes with lots of fragrant rice. It's a very light enjoyable flavor that's easy to eat. *Fahsa: This is a stew with shredded meat and we ordered it with lamb. Again, beautifully spiced but not overwhelmingly salty or pungent, goes amazingly with the flatbread that comes with the dish. *Susi - This is a flatbread baked with eggs, milk butter. It is quite heavy on the eggs so that does overpower the dish, it is just slightly savory, and the flavor balances well with a little touch of honey which they serve on the side. It doesn't completely match my taste but it was good. We also ordered the saltah and muqlqal again (see my previous review for those, they haven't changed and are still delish). We in Springfield are incredibly lucky to have such a unique Middle Eastern restaurant where flavors are light yet flavorful & super authentic at the same time, which is the beauty of Yemeni cuisine. Remember to dine with a few friends / loved ones, because you're going to need helpers to help demolish the big portions they have here. read more

Marib is the one and only time that I've ever had Yemeni food, so I'm not exactly an expert. Still, we had a really lovely meal at an affordable price with nice service and we will definitely be going back. We had the Shafout appetizer along with baba ganoush (which we were told isn't really Yemeni) and a red lentil soup. The soup was excellent and just what I was craving. Warm, hearty and delicious. The Shafout is a big piece of spongy bread with a mint yogurt sauce over top of it, pomegranate and salad on it. Probably better in the warm months, it was still really tasty and different. The baba ganoush was excellent because the bread was so good (though not as good the next day when it cooled down)! We finished with Saltah which was a warm stew. Prices were reasonable, the restaurant wasn't crowded on a Sunday evening and service was friendly, without being rushed. We will definitely be back. read more

Everything is very authentic and full of flavor and the portions are huge and more than enough for two people. My favorite was the hummus with beef, the beef tasted exactly like the way it tasted in my favorite restaurant in Yemen. The lamb and chicken mandi, Shafoot and bint al sa7n are a must try. As for the restaurant itself, the dining room is huge and clean with plenty of seating available even for large parties. They have dividers (like restaurants do in the Middle East) that you can request if you and your family would like to dine in private. First time trying Yemini food and Marib didn't disappoint! We ordered take-out from here and ordering was quick and easy, our food was ready in less than 20mins. We ordered the chicken manti, lamb haneeth and beef fahsa as I'm told those are the best Yemini dishes. Both rice dishes were delicious and plentiful, I liked the lamb haneeth a little more as the lamb was very tasty and soft. The chicken was a little under seasoned but it was cooked well. The meal comes with 2 large chicken quarters which is perfect if you're sharing with 2 people. The fahsa came warm and with bread to dip into the flavorful soup. I had seen the reviews of Marib, and had to try it out. I came in at a time when the buffet was open, which was fortuitous. The food was very good, although several dishes were not replenished until it was time for us to leave. What we did have was good even though some had sat there for a while. A nice introduction to Yemeni food (alas, none of it was marked, so I annot tell you what we had). And it is completely worth it to get the pitcher of their lime and mint soda. It was light and sweet and just amazing! Also, while the service was friendly, it wasn't necessarily good. While other people were notified of items on the buffet or the fact that sodas were included, we were not. It actually took a long time for us to receive water, and when it was time to go, we had to go to the front to pay the bill since no one had checked on us for quite a while. About a 2-2.5: I was excited to check out Marib Yemeni Restaurant, a new Yemeni restaurant that arrived in Springfield! This restaurant is located inside the Fresh World plaza, but just note that their main sign above still reads 'BBQ Delight.' The menu offers soups, appetizers, main courses, as well as desserts (don't let the buffet table inside fool you either, as that was for the previous restaurant). We started off with some Hummus with Meat (which happened to be sauteed cubed lamb with onions and jalapeno peppers) - this was literally one of the best appetizers I've had in quite some time! The hummus was super creamy, and not too thick nor too thin; the sauteed lamb with the grilled onions was just plain magical - the kick from the peppers also added a great spiciness to it. The freshly-baked pita bread was so addicting, and it was just a great pairing - YUM!!! For our main entrees, we had the Haneeth (slow-roasted lamb with Marib's special seasoning, set on top of rice and sahawiq (which was on the side; this is like a Yemeni version of salsa); I did like the grilled onions, but I personally didn't really care for this dish as the lamb was a bit too gamey for my taste); and, the Fahsa (which came in a claypot; a stew with shredded beef and veggies; you dip the pita bread within as more of like a dip). I most likely will return only for the Hummus with Meat, as the main entrees really were disappointing for me. Interesting food - different from the typical Middle Eastern food that's commonly found. Shared beef sambousa, shafout, foul, fahsa with lamb and mathlootha with haneeth. Shafout was interesting but I wasn't a fan of the underlying spongy bread - great to try though. Fahsa was ok, sambousa and mathlootha were delicious!
