Just had the best lamb dish ever for lunch. Check this place out now before everyone finds out. read more

This was a great experience. For two people to share, oedered the foul, the salteh, and the appetizer with the yogurt and bread, which also was sprinkled with pomegranate. Foul and appetizer were both amazing - foul really garlicky and rich, appetizer very tangy and flavorful. Salteh was good but not a knockout. Great service and atmosphere - strongly recommended. read more

the food here is wonderful. I forgot the names of the dishes we had the lamb was very tender and well seasoned. The lime mint drink (is there a name?) was delicious as well. Four stars because the smell of burning incense is overpowering. Also, the bathrooms are not too clean. read more

We got the Hanith and and the Fahsa and it was amazing! The food is great and the staff is very welcoming and attentive. I would highly recommend it. read more

Great Yemeni food with AMAZING service. They are very welcoming/hospitable and the food is definitely authentic! Definitely recommend, especially if you want to experience real Yemeni cuisine. read more

I gotta say this place is as authentic as it gets. It could pass as fine dining. The ambiance and service was top-notch. Keep it up guys, I'm going to be taking my friends here when they're in town. read more

Best Yemeni food in the northern VA area. Excellent service, and generous portions. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

A complete novice to Yemeni food. Ordered Sambousa with meat and the Saltah stew dish. The Sambousa was delicious, but kind of small for a $6 appetizer. The stew dish was sublime. My mouth has never tasted anything that had that many competing, delicious flavors in each bite. The two huge pieces of naan bread that came with it were the perfect accompaniment, since this stew is kind of 'soupy'--something needed to sop up the deliciousness. I will definitely be visiting this place again and again. read more

Excellent food! All the meats are juicy and tender. The rice and salad is perfectly seasoned. You have to try their lemonade. It's fresh, frothy, and has bits of the rind. Just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely be back. read more

Rounding to 5 from 4.5 stars. Delicious food at a very affordable price and friendly service. Good place to go with a group as the dishes are large and facilitate sharing. We had: -Maraq, a cumin spiced lamb broth, enhanced by adding a squirt of the accompanying lime. Deeply flavorful and comforting. Would be superb on a cold night or to help cure the common cold. Maraq could easily put chicken soup out of business. -Meat samouza: crisply fried pastry triangles filled with spiced meat (the online menu says beef, but I'd guess that the meat was lamb) and served with a tomato/onion dipping sauce. Perfection. Vegetable samouza are also on offer. -Saltah: very good, described as a vegetable stew in a spiced sauce. It is traditionally served with whipped fenugreek on top (and described thus on the menu), and pairs beautifully with Marib's accompanying flatbread. (The flatbread is delicious in its own right.) Marib's version of saltah is tomato-based and vegetarian (the dish can also be made with chicken or lamb.) We enjoyed the saltah very much, but are deducting a half star from our review because: 1)it was mostly potato (would have been helpful to so describe it on the menu-- in fairness, it is often made this way in Yemen); 2)if it included the advertised fenugreek whipped condiment, we couldn't see or taste it. 3)The advertised hot sauce (sahawiq) was not provided. -Lamb haneeth. If you enjoy lamb, this dish is a must. Lamb on the bone is coated in a savory spice blend and slow roasted until the exterior is slightly crisp and the interior moist and flavorful. The lamb is served in largish pieces atop succulent basmati rice. Simple, succulent and worth seeking out. If you like hot sauce, ask for the advertised sahawiq-- not delivered with our order. -Semolina cake: our kind server brought us a complimentary piece. It is delicious: moist, light, graced with a satisfying texture and not overly sweet. Highly recommended. -Beverages: no alcohol is served at Marib. The house lemonade is most refreshing as an aperitif or meal accompaniment. Dinner can be completed with one of several coffee and tea drinks. We tried qishr, a brewed drink made from cardamon and coffee grounds. It tastes like weak, cardamon-flavored coffee-- let's call it an acquired taste. The individual cup of Arabic coffee (along the same lines as Turkish, but weaker here) was more satisfying. If you have a larger group, it might be fun to try traditional Arabic coffee brewed in a dallah (a traditional coffee pot). Groups might also want to try the pricier traditional desserts. Overall: great find, especially when considering the quality of food against the price point. Ask if your order comes without advertised condiments or components (in our case, the whipped fenugreek topping for the vegetable saltah and the sahawiq hot sauce.) read more

I went there late one night after I had just gotten out of work, i was tired and hungry and found that they were open late. I am not very accustomed to this style of food so I figure I'd order the safest thing which was the chicken Mandi. It came on a bed of rice with sautéed onions and it was great! The flavoring was just right with not too much seasoning to overpower the dish, the rice was warm and seasoned well enough ton compliment the chicken along with the sweet onions sprinkled on top really helped put the dish together. I will definitely come back and may try some other items as well. read more

Love the food. What a cute little place in a strip mall. The staff is great. Service and food were on point. Ordered Fahad and it was delish. Will be back!!! read more

My 16-year-old son and I went to Marib when we were in the area based on the reviews. Neither of us had ever had Yemeni food. He ordered the Maraq broth, because he couldn't believe anything could cost $1.50. I wasn't sure he would like lamb broth with spices, but he absolutely loved it. Think he would have consumed a bowl of it. I ordered the Yemeni Style Salad, thinking it would be a small side thing, but it was huge! In a big white bowl. Fresh and delicious, and I took most home. Son ordered the Chicken Mandi -- chicken was hot, tender, well seasoned (although he would have liked more seasoning, I think), rice was great, and little onion straws on top were good, too. I ordered the Qulabah Chicken. It was brought out in a cast iron bowl boiling. Slightly spicy and really, really good. The Sahawiq salsa on the side and the pita bread were great, too. They forgot to bring my tea, but our server prepared it to go and didn't charge us for it. Wonderful place! We will be back. read more

I've never experienced such high class food! Today (Friday) was my first time in the buffet, only one word to describe it 'Amazing' and Delicious. Ok maybe two words.... anyway everything was so well put and the looks were so good! And the Kabobs I don't know where to start! There so good! Such high class taste and it looked just as good! I highly recommend this great buffet!!! 5 starts for me!! read more

The food at the restaurant is good. Well, at least most of the time. The reason why I give it only two starts is that the portions are too small compared to the price. I had lamb haneeth the other day and I got a good portion of meat and around 4 tablespoons of rice! You could actually see the plate under the very thin layer of rice. This is just wrong. I don't want to pay $20 dollars for a meal and don't get enough food for one person. They said the amount of money is basically for the meat. Well, that does not make sense. It is stated in the menu that it served with rice. They offered another explanation: this is the new policy bc people do not eat all the rice so we decided to go with a smaller portion of rice. Seriously?! This is ridiculous! At the end they were like, well, this is a one-person meal and you guys are two! Well, I was not that hungry at the time neither my husband was. You can't force us to order two meals or decrease the portions so we can't eat together! We're the customers we decide what we want. If you have a restaurant you need to understand how much it takes to feed one adult human being. If you think that you could save some money by decreasing the portions and the food quality, your mistaken, you're indeed losing customers. To make things even worse, i ordered Areeka, which is usually served with cheddar cheese "at least that's what it is stated in the menu", and they served it with mozzarella cheese! You can't just say this is the new policy. Well, your new policy says that you don't care about your customers. All you care about is making more money. By the way, be prepared to pay at least $5 for service (that doesn't include tip) and that's for two adults and one toddler. read more

Good food, variety different taste. The Lamb was great. The Lentils soup was very tasty.

I came here because of an advertisement for the Friday buffet. It said "lunch special $8.99. The buffet was good but not amazing. The tandoori style chicken was tasty and the appetiser of injera style bread with yogurt and basil and mint was refreshing..However, when I went to pay, I was shocked that the price was $16.32!! I pulled out the advertisement and explained that it said $8.99...The waitress went into the kitchen to talk with someone but no manager appeared..She reappeared and told me the $8.99 was for another lunch special. It's great when an establishment goes out of their way to make things right for the customer but not here..I guess they're not interested in repeat business. I'm writing this review VB because I feel the advertisement is deceptive. If they had made an effort to remedy the situation, I would have been impressed.. read more

Same experience as many of the reviewers before me. Well, except now they have a real sign over the restaurant. :-) What a fantastic meal. We had the lamb and beef dishes. The brought a salad (didn't expect that) and 4 huge pieces of what they call pita (more like naan). It was all tasty. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive, although not 100% on the English. We had a nice experience and would go again. read more

Best authentic Yemeni food in the area! Their food is beyond delicious and fresh. Some must try dishes are the areeka, shafoot, chicken and lamb mandi, haneeth...honestly everything on the menu! Service is great and all the staff are kind and welcoming. If I could eat here everyday, I would. A must try and you won't be disappointed! read more

Amazing food - have always had amazing experiences here with the family. Very nice restaurant, great staf, awesome food.

Excellent variety and Deeeeeeee-licious food; wonderful service with a smile. always will be a customer

My husband and I went there tonight to break our fasting!! What a disappointment!! When it was our turn to get food from the buffet line, most of the foods were already gone. It was just plain rice and salad, and we were still charged the full price. I asked the waiter to replenish the food but he kept bringing plain rice. Will never go back there again read more

Great food! Can be a long wait, which we did encounter during lunch about 1 hour 45 minutes in and out.

Re: Yemeni cuisine, we didn't really know what to expect. The food was definitely interesting and really tasty. The opening dish for us was shafout, which was a totally new experience. Balanced, interesting flavors and texture, really great introduction to Yemeni food. For our main course, we chose the chicken mathlouthi. It did not disappoint. The flavors unique and had a terrific balance. The lamb sambousi's were not well prepared and a bit bland. One winner was the lime juice with mint. Absolutely delightful and perfect for a warm summer evening. OK, sounds good, so why the two star review. The service was as poor as any eating establishment I've ever patronized. The server was slow, inattentive, forgetful. It was dreadful and completely ruined our experience. She eventually brought a carafe of water, but didn't bother to make sure that there were water glass on the table. The food was brought to us haphazardly. The plates from one course were never cleared, so the sauces from the appetizer mingled freely with the sauces from the main dish. We gave up on dessert, and finally had to walk over and ask for the check. After 15 minutes, we asked the manager for the check which he gave to us right away. Soon after that, our server brought the check, pretty much as we were walking out the door. In case anyone is wondering whether it was a particularly busy time and the staff was crazed, the answer is no. We were there for an early dinner and there was no one else in the restaurant. There was a small takeout order they were working on, otherwise we should have had their full attention. I have to believe the there are other places to choose for anyone who would like to experience Yemeni cuisine. I would strongly suggest not going to Marib. read more

I visited Marib restaurant. I came from Ohio State to taste Yemeni food. I ordered Mandi which wasn't like Authentic Yemeni Mandi. The food they served wasn't enough. Prices were much more. I would say service was better than food. I would say it wasn't my worth experience. read more

this place is the BEST!! the food is good and service is great :) my friend and i came here last year because it was super close to her house and we desperately needed food. now, i take everyone here - friends, family, out of town visitors, etc. we love it! i don't know the proper names of the dishes, but the lamb over rice is super soft and tasty, the chicken over rice was was awesome, the beef/lamb stew is perfect for cold weather, but my favs are the lime & mint juice and hot milk tea. i could drink both of those all day, every day. they all seem like simple dishes, but they're really flavorful. feels like comfort food. definitely drop by and try this place out! read more

My husband and I went to Marib for a takeout sandwich on a Saturday afternoon. The owner showed us the menu which didn't include any sandwiches, but he quickly volunteered to make sandwiches out of our choice of several of the appetizer dishes. We chose a lamb dish with peppers and onions. While we waited for our order, a waitress brought us bowls of a Yemeni soup -- delicate but flavorful lamb broth with warm spices including cumin, black pepper, and cardamom. It was delicious. Our sandwich was also delicious. The filling of lamb, peppers and onions had great depth of flavor, and the flat bread it was wrapped in was slightly charred and crispy on the outside, but tender inside. In addition the sandwich was of a very generous size. The owner and the waitress were helpful, charming and attentive. Even though the restaurant is not conveniently located for us, we plan to go back again soon. This time for a full meal with our children and their spouses. It would also be a nice place for families with young children. read more
