It is a small place, quite messy, with a lot of activity (baking cookies, slicing meats) that had little to do with customer service. As I was the only customer there (at 1:25 in the afternoon) i was ignored (despite my attempts to converse) until I called out for a chicken parmigiana sandwich to go. The bread is fresh, but the sandwich merely had small pieces of breaded chicken--essentially just little bites, like one would cut for a toddler. Sauce was underwhelming and surprisingly (and disappointingly) sweet. I also purchased some premade penne with marinara for dinner. Again, the marinara was very dull...and sweet. The sandwich cost $14.75, and the penne was another $11.00. There were no pizza slices, no arancini. Rather disappointing and bare. In fact, the lemon cookie I bought, which was NOT mind blowing in any sense, was the single best thing I bought there. I know good Italian deli, and yes, I have been to Sicily on several occasions. This was more like a Subway attempt at Italian food. I do not expect to go back.

I waited a few days to post this review, because I really wanted to give them a chance to make it right. But it's now been 6 days and I've still received ZERO communication or accountability from anyone. I've called multiple times and either no on answers, or when they do, they say the manager isn't available. I ordered catering for my mother's memorial - she lived in West Roxbury and I wanted to support a local business that she enjoyed. The first red flag should've been when I tried to call 3 times to place the order initially, and each time was told the catering team wasn't available. I decided to go in person and speak to the head of catering to place the order. The catering manager, Lucy, was nice and helped me decide what to order for the number of people we were expecting. I was planning to pick the order up the night before, but she encouraged me to instead do delivery the morning of to ensure it was as fresh as possible and "make the day easier for myself". if only I had listened to my gut and done pick up. the delivery was a disaster. Lucy assured me it was no problem for to deliver the order at 1030am at the location of the memorial. I was very clear when I ordered that we needed the food to arrive before the guests started arriving at 11am. I confirmed the date, time, and location printed on my receipt when I prepaid for the entire order a week in advance. Another red flag is that there was no communication the couple of days before, but I was so busy coordinating the other components I didn't worry - since I placed the order directly with the catering manager I was sure it would all be fine. But the day of the memorial, 1030am rolls around, and there no food in sight. Then 1045am, then 11am, and still nothing - guests are arriving and there is no food... we called in a panic and spent 30 minutes on hold with the least enthusiastic employee, claiming there was no order in the system, even though the catering manager herself guaranteed the delivery time and location a week prior. Not only was the order delivered over an hour late, in the middle of the service, it was wrong/missing half of the food. Furthermore, they provided serve-ware for approximately 20 people when it was a 85 person order. I ended up having to throw away a large portion of the salads because there simply were not utensils or plates to eat them with. They brought the bread for the "deluxe sandwich platters" literally in a giant plastic bag that they just dumped on table. It felt like a complete joke. Bottom line, the entire experience left our guests hungry, and me even more upset on one of the hardest days of my life. Since then, no one has called or emailed me to follow up apologize after the event. I have been trying to get a well deserved refund and there is just zero accountability from any of the staff there. never, ever, ever order catering from here.

Good ratio of filling (cilantro, carrot, cucumber) to bread, every bite was loaded with flavor. The only downside was that the crispy shrimp still had their tails on and we didn't like that texture. We also got the butterfly summer laven-ade and while it was tasty, it also turned out to be a necessity because of the spicy jalapenos! It's a relatively small space with counter style service and a couple of tables and chairs. You can still grab a seat and eat a meal in the restaurant but they might be better suited for takeout.
