If you like home fries that are hunks of crispy potatoes that are soft inside this is your spot. Good prices. Locally sourced ingredients (bread from rosendale) . I got a a lox, poached eggs, spinach, feta cheese plate and my boyfriend got homemade corned beef hash. Came here on my mom's birthday for breakfast. Great diner food, and our server made it memorable by adding a candle to her fruit bowl. She loved it! When my mom first mentioned this place my boyfriend turned to me and we both thought the same thing - she's not into Grateful Dead music. But we were in for this experience. First off it's an amazing name, I always enjoy a good pun on words. We sat down and Pink Pony Club was playing. Got some questions... I don't think we heard one Grateful Dead song the entire time we were there, it was a great playlist don't get me wrong, just not on brand. Our last day in Boston, my boyfriend I were craving some diner food. 50's diner was way too crowded so we opted for grateful. It's a family friendly diner that works quickly. We were seated within 5 minutes even though it was busy. I ordered the sausage and omelette with potato wedges which tasted wonderfully. An amazing diner with great tasting food at an affordable price! I got the 02026 omelette and it was one of my personal favorites! The 02026 has a great blend of sweet, salty, and savory flavors. The apple gave it a hint of sweetness that compliments well with the saltiness of the bacon. As well as the goat cheese that catalyzed the two ingredients into one perfect bite. The potatoes were seasoned well. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside! Toast is toast so it's not overly special. The whole set including tax was around $15 which was a pretty good deal! The staff were amazing and fast. Also, the restaurant is very lively in the mornings. I would recommend going early, it will get packed around 8-10am. The Grateful Dedham has been on my "hope to try" list for some years - I wish I had tried this place earlier: quite good on many levels. Seating was quick, despite crowd, and service from receiving menu to paying the check was prompt & friendly. The inside can be loud, but that's because lots of families eat with kids here, which I think is great. Note: there is a discount price if paying check by cash vs credit card. Food: I got "The Grateful" (see photo), while The Wife got a ham & cheese omelette, plus a side of corned beef hash (see phot). My Wife thinks the hash is the best ever; I lean towards it being quite good. As for my 2 scambled eggs, potatos, French toast, sausage (1) & bacon (2 strips) - quite yummy, the French toast & sausage in particular. Note: bacon is crispy, which happens to be the way I like bacon to be cooked. Potatoes were overcooked in my opinion. I tried my Wife's omelette: the ham was particularly flavorful. Get there an hour or more before closing. The staff is always in a hurry to leave on the weekends and reluctant to seat you (or will make it known they aren't happy). To owner: If you aren't serving until 3pm, please change the hours on your site or at least say last seating at 2:00 or 2:30 (or whenever) It's happened more than once. Plenty of seating on the main drag with street parking. They call it a diner but it sure looks like a restaurant to me. The ceilings were high which brightened the atmosphere. I had the western omelette. I was loaded with ham, onion and green pepper.l which was sauted which brought out the flavor and made them el dente. I had the fruit cup in lieu of hash browns. Recently went back to the Grateful Diner, it's been a couple of years since I have been there. It was a mixed bag for sure. My feedback: Asked for well done bacon, did not get well done, it was barely cooked. Not a crispy section in sight. The yogurt parfait was basically missing the yogurt and was 90% fruit. Big let down. The service was less than desirable. Among other minor details, the server did not ask is we wanted anything else, just dropped off the check. Perhaps another cocktail would have been had....but check was on the table, so the Grateful Diner's loss in revenue. The server also never asked if we wanted any of the plates cleared which was unusual, so we just sat there talking with a table full of dirty plates--the flies and bees were happy, though! read more

We met up with friends for breakfast at the Grateful Dedham Diner on a recent Saturday morning. While the service felt a bit uneven with a long wait to order and a minor snafu during the ordering process, the staff quickly made things right. They were also very patient with our group, giving the five of us plenty of time to catch up with our local friends rather than trying to rush us to turn the table to accommodate the growing queue of diners. The breakfast menu includes plenty of options with filling portions of breakfast staples including cage free egg platters, benedicts, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, waffles, or breakfast sandwiches. The menu also offers several burgers, salads, and sandwiches/wraps which are available all day for those heathens who don't crave breakfast foods at every opportunity. I had the Irish Jumbo Roll sandwich ($9), comprised of two eggs (over medium at my request), irish bacon, and sausage links served on a fresh grinder roll. Tasty! As always, my dining companion preferred something lighter and opted for the G.O.A.T. platter ($13), two poached eggs over baby spinach, served with what feels like a pound of smoked salmon, goat cheese, avocado, and whole wheat toast. She really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area! The could have been better myself along with two others asked for cheese on our scramble eggs and on their omelette. We were a group of 7 heading back to RI from a few days in Maine. We wanted to stop midway for lunch, and Dedham was that place. What made us choose the Grateful Dedham diner was the name - I mean how bad could it be? It was great (or should I say grate?). People had the grilled cheese with Brie, others had a chicken wrap, some had breakfast, everyone loved their dish. Our server was very nice. I usually never comment on service but after my husband and I were seated, we waited such long time for someone to bring us menus that we almost left. It was odd that we were seated without them to begin with. Not a good start that went from bad to worse... I ordered the big rig breakfast which is eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast and pancakes. The bacon and home fries were burnt. The bacon was pretty much charred to a crisp. The toast was the most odd toast I've ever had anywhere; two small pieces of bread inches thick that tasted like oatmeal. I was done with this "toast" after one bite. I think the pancakes were supposed to be "big & fluffy" but they were thick and mushy instead. Even the coffee didn't taste right to me. Unfortunately I'd recommend skipping over this place :( read more

Decor is rough: torn vinyl on booth seats, plastic mismatched chair throughout (the kind you find in an ocean state job lot, dirty and stained menus. Food was fine. I had a grilled Rachel with fries. I went with some family members on a Saturday morning. The wait staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I had the Belgian waffle with fruit, which were all very fresh. If you want something sweet they have great pancake flavors and French toast. They have a long list of omelettes and eggs for something savory. Their sandwiches and huge salads are great too. The ingredients are high quality and healthy. On the weekends it does get pretty crowded so sometimes there is a wait. They have really nice outdoor seating as well.
