I understand everyone has different taste in pizza but for what it's worth, Nicholas is the only pizza all my kids have agreed on in 5+ years. There's just something simple yet delicious about their cheese & pepperoni and I find their prices are very fair. Doesn't hurt that the pizza is always ready in under 20 minutes when I call. Years ago this place had the best steak and cheese in town. Fast forward to today and this place has gone so far down hill, it's just sad. The lack of cheese and abundance of burnt dried steak are glaringly obvious. They used to melt a generous amount of cheese into the steak, resulting in a meaty cheesey blended bite. Now they barley put any cheese on it so the sandwich is just dry. The formula is not hard folks. Melt cheese on steak, place in bread. This the last time I go to this place. Great spot to quickly pick up a pizza, rap, or sub. It's cheap and pick-up friendly. I wouldn't go here for a sit-down meal, but I definitely recommend it for a quick bite. My favorite slice of Greek-America pizza can be found right in downtown Needham. Nicholas' just does it right for me. They also have your standard sub shop selections. I particularly like the cheese steak and roast beef. There salads are standard too. A good choice. Sometimes the service is slow. They are very popular in town. Be ready to spend your entire lunch hour going to get your take-out from this place. Once you arrive you'll have to wait close to 10 minutes to place your order and another 20 to actually get it. That's just for subs, wraps and salads, which are no different than what you'd find at any other sub shop. The wait doesn't seem much better for call-ins, who were also complaining about the long delay. I don't want to find out how long I'd have to sit there to get a pizza. read more

This lunch place has always pleased me. It has great tasting pizza as well as other lunch foods. They have a nice variety of cold sodas and are very friendly and nice. Came in one time to order a slice of cheese. The pizza was just sitting right there in the open on a hot summer day. The cashier was counting money on the counter. When I ordered a slice, he went and grabbed the pizza without even washing his hands or putting on gloves. You do not serve people food if you're touching money! read more

I've been to Nicholas' a few times now and it's one of those place where you can grab a quick lunch or dinner. The pizza is fine but this place isn't going to be our go to pizza place. I have actually not been able to get food from here because I've never been able to get past the incredibly rude staff on the phone. The first time I called I asked to place an order for delivery. The woman who answered the phone said "We only deliver for large events" and immediately hung up. I was so angry, I considered driving over and telling management that they just lost out on a $300 order, but it wasn't true, so I didn't. The 2nd time I called I was LITERALLY told by the woman who answered the phone that they were "too busy" to accept my order. The next day I called to complain, I asked to speak with a manager, and I was hung up, on. I thought it was another one of the face dials I do with my phone, where my face activates buttons on my cell, so I called back. Same result: I asked to speak with a manager and was immediately hung up, on. So, no thank you, and I tell this story to anyone in Needham and surrounding area willing to listen. read more

Tonight i sent my husband to Nicholas for a salad and ziti with chicken. The salad was good but the chicken was so burnt it was black and so tough you could not eat it. I wouldn't give it to an animal never mind a human. Into the trash it went. The ziti was over cooked and split. I have been a customer for 30 years and they have seen the last of me. This is absolutely the BEST place in town (& in the whole area) to get pizza, subs, salads & pasta. Their food is always fresh, the people who work there are always friendly & courteous, you just cannot go wrong eating here!! We've been coming here for many, many years & it's always maintained their high quality...some places start off well & then slip, not here. They keep the great quality going. No place is ever perfect (although I've never had a problem here) but they are the kind of place that if you ever did have an issue, they would make it right: all you would have to do is politely ask. I saw a large line at lunch time so I figured the food must be pretty good. They took my order right away but failed to tell me it would be a 40 minute wait. I spent my whole lunch break waiting for a small pizza. I would have ordered a few slices but they didn't have any ready.
