Let me start by saying I do very much like your store in itself and the nice variety of products, meats and produce provided. The problem I have comes into play when you're actually trying to get OUT of the store! Mariano's, why in the world don't you hire cashiers and baggers? it's ridiculous! This isn't just an occasional issue either. This is almost an every week issue! I was on your Park Ridge store today and once again there was only one cashier working with one line open. The line kept getting longer and longer and yet it remained just one line. I know for a fact I stood in line for a good 30 minutes. I've been in there on other occasions in the middle of the afternoon where there is a long line, one cashier and sometimes there's not even a bagger. So, now that one cashier not only has to run your groceries thru, she/he also has to turn around and BAG all the groceries! I'm not sure what's going on. is Mariano's on a real tight budget these days! All I can tell you is this is a terrible inconvenience for all your customers standing there trying to just pay for their groceries and be on their way to continue their day. read more

I shop here frequently and normally do not have any problems, but today I received the worst customer service at the guacamole bar. There was a new girl working the bar, I ordered a guacamole. I watched this girl literally mutilate the avocado as she was trying to cut it open and remove the pit. As she was scooping out the avocado, I noticed quite a bit of brown in the flesh. I asked her to remove it and she said she couldn't. I told her I did want my guacamole made with all the brown from the avocado, so I would like her to cut a new avocado. She told me she couldn't do that. I told her that I didn't want the guacamole then and she could keep her brown fleshed avocado. Really poor customer service. Mariano's need to train their workers on what good customer service looks like. read more

My review is specifically for Irma in the bakery. I have been meaning to leave her a review awhile back but keep forgetting. She is awesome at decorating cakes and for me cupcakes. I can tell her what I'm looking to create and she always pulls it off. The Mariano's bakery on Elston never seems to come through. I always ask but whip cream frosting and twice they told me at the last minute that they couldn't do it. Only butter cream which I hate. But Irma can! Thanks again! read more

Such as organic produce section and healthy choices throughout the store.They have many products, very good quality of the meats and plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits and very nice selection of cheese to purchase. I was happy going on Mariano's grocery store because, I have carries many of my favorite products and the pricing is reasonable. .Their selection of foods was great and impressive. This is my local Mariano's. I like it and for a while they had some amazing sales when they opened and I loved it but lately they are back to being a little bit pricey. You can still find some good deals but for example peanut butter is here a $1 more than it is at another supermarket, I know because I just bought that peanut butter there. I also had some Mariano's sushi, which is just ok and again a bit pricey. What I like about it is the convenience and that you can put your order in and shop around and come back and it will be ready. But the sushi is bland and costs $2 more than in another supermarket. Another reason why I like Mariano's is because the variety; lately a lot of blueberries, cherries and mangos organic and not. They also have great diary products that other stores lack. Very nice wine selection too. I have to find out more about their inside bar but I see that they do wine flights. read more

Out of the many Dominick's-converted Mariano's that I have seen, this one is by far the best. There seems to be a wide gulf between the custom-built stores and the takeovers of existing spaces, but here on Cumberland, you would never know that this had ever been another store. I am very sorry that I live on the opposite end of Park Ridge, because I would love for this to be my regular grocery. Random observations: + Items on the hot bar that I have never seen anywhere else, such as kielbasa, fried shrimp, and onion rings! + Produce is a strong suit, great variety and high quality + A very wide space between the registers and the start of the aisles, so that a line of customers backed up in the checkout lane does not disrupt the still-shopping customers too much - Bakery seems like a slight weak spot, not as much variety and quantity as other stores - Snow removal did not seem to be a priority here, even 24 hours after the big November 21 storm - One night the salad bar was shut down by 8:30 and the hot bar was reduced to half; I don't know whether this is typical, but if so, it sucks. Late-evening shoppers deserve some delicious quick dinners just as much as the post-work crowd. read more

I've shopped at both Harwood Heights and Arlington Heights Mariano's (see other reviews) and was excited to have one closer to home. I am hoping my experience is merely "just opened kinks" and not the bar for the future. I will start with the good since there was so little of it 1) Customer service- Everyone, I MEAN EVERYONE was very friendly, courteous and helpful. 2) Bakery- Absolutely divine fruit tart with blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. really good lemon bar 3) sale items were actually in STOCK (i.e., huge end cap of sale .75 starkist tuna. Now, about those kinks: no Italian style deli turkey despite there being a sign for it - chicken was in its place no prepared "turkey breast" (BIG SIGN)= TURKEY BREAST 6.99) where the rotisserie chicken are (chickens looked undercooked, not brown and golden). I got some deli meat- asked for thin, arrive home to find thick. Also deli staff not aware what size they are measuring- twice they were way over or using containers too large My groceries were packed all willy nilly- soap in with frozen, heavy items in with bread refrigerated items were mixed in with grocery items I had about 7 coupons but the highest ($4 off 2 Loreal shampoos) was NOT ON THE RECEIPT. I purposely bought for sale combined w the coupon! The cashier actually had to call someone over because she didn't know how to use coupons-- I had no clue until I got home and looked at receipt that that one wasn't credited!!! Two other friends one in Chicago and one in Des Plaines also had negative experiences there so I know it is not just ME! Not sure if I want to give it another go as a hell of a lot went wrong on this visit. read more

I went to this location to purchase some wine for me and my girlfriend for a date not. I was followed throughout the store by the manager for no reason. Was I purchased my items and left Me and my girlfriend were stopped by multiple police officers with their guns drawn saying that the manager called and accused us of threatening him with a gun. Obviously this was not true nor did we ever speak to the manager. This was a purely racist action. We were told we were free to go by the officers. This is fully unacceptable. I regularly go to a Mariano's location in the north suburbs, but was nearby this location for a work event this evening and stopped in. It's evident that it was a quick conversion from Dominck's to Mariano's, as the layout is a bit awkward. That said, the produce section is massive, which left me jealous. The staff clearly need some training. A cashier tried to ring up my cereal bars and grew frustrated when he realized he had to count the bars. He literally said out loud, "Are you kidding me!?" So sorry to inconvenience you while you're on the clock, kid. So, in sum, it looks like the place needs some polish. It will get there. read more

Mariano's is my favorite grocery store (normally), but today, this location didn't tickle my fancy. The employees here were awkward, stuck up and a little insecure (except for the cute girl at the Vero Coffee shop). The prices and food quality at this location were the same at any other and that is excellent. I'm used to smiling faces and helpful, customer service oriented employees and unfortunately these workers didn't have these qualities. ordered online received confirmation the order was ready for pickup arrived around the scheduled pickup time and I checked in waited and waited and waited one hour later several calls to the store still no order other customers came in after me and got their order what is going on? no direct answer to any call to the store computer crash. not the first computer crash for this store. what credentials do store people have to fix computer crashes? why make promises of the order coming out in five minutes? an hour later no order. online orders a paid for online. If you picked the order let me have it and do your computer adjusting on your own time. finally left. called to let the store know I had left. the assistant manager shouts to someone else "she left" to me he says "you will just have to come back". that statement IRRITATED me no end! explicative Mariano's should have thought of other options once they knew they had a problem the "friendly" Mariano's people should have figured out how to make things right give a customer options Mariano's has their own trucks for deliveries use them to deliver I come back and the manager comes out with the order. tells me he was nothing but nice to me. As far as Mariano's go, this one is in the OK category, but much of the rear interior feels like the Dominick's it once was. It does not have the open, contemporary feel of the other Mariano's we've been in. This store is also distinctive for it's convenient underground parking garage, with shopping cart escalator - a nice feature I don't think I've personally seen anywhere else. read more

I can't believe that a successful company like Mariano's doesn't have a way to bill over the phone or through the app for curbside pickup. I've done curbside during the pandemic from a variety of stores and they are the only one that requires a face-to-face interaction in order to pickup groceries. While it's safer to interact with one person outside than multiple people inside, the last time I went the person who took my credit card outside had their mask falling from their nose the whole time. I wore a mask but this still felt very unsafe to me. I like Mariano's in general and the products they carry but I don't think I'll repeat the experience until the pandemic is over. Jewel and Target both offer a safer curbside experience. read more

I come here often for groceries, and my last interaction with the bakery and the deli demonstrate need for improvement. If you approach the bakery, most workers congregate in the back, and if you ask a question, they don't come close to you-you have to yell to the back to get anyone. The deli yesterday afternoon was miserable. I waited over 20 minutes, and the workers just kept leaving and walking away (in the back, other departments, etc). When I got my ticket, 05, they were on number 94. That took 20 minutes. Even when more than half of those waiting just left. They helped 3 people in that time frame. I've bragged about the deli counter and bakery here so many times to friends and family over the past two years, but the past two months have shown a delcline in customer service. I just shopped at Mariano's on Cumberland and checked out at 9:05 am today on Register 7. The two cashiers (they were changing) and one bag her spent more time talking about the latest soap opera news than attending to customers. To make matters worse, the bagger placed two containers of spinach on the bottom of my paper bag and then loaded 12 cans of tomatoes sauce, beans etc. on top When I arrived home- the spinach containers were smashed almost 1/2 their size in height. How clueless are people? This wasn't anyone who has a learning disability this is someone who. Was talking more than paying attention to what they were doing. I tried to call the store and you cannot get to a human. Then I tried Mariano's Feedback. Com and that isn't working this morning either. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER MARIANOS!!! It saddens me to give my Mariano's only two stars, but ever since Kroger took over this place has gone down the drain. Kroger generic items are just not very good. Every section (bbq, pizza, sushi, bakery etc) has just gotten worse. The most important aspect to me, the produce, has really gone bad. The last time I was there (and will ever go there) fruit flies were EVERYWHERE, especially on the onions. No one seemed to care. When you add in their ridiculous prices I'd rather drive the 20 extra minutes to Woodman's in Buffalo Grove. read more

I love the Mariano's chain since it did shake up the Chicago supermarket scene. When they replaced Dominick's they gave Jewel a small challenge and in turn made them step up their game and remodel stores, add fresh offerings, etc. This Mariano's was recently remodeled to fit the more traditional chain mold. They added a BBQ stand, sushi, fresh juices and the kettle popcorn area. The deli and cheese section are both very good and they have a large hot/cold salad bar. The Sicilian and fresh wood fired pizzas are excellent. This place packs up on weekdays with people from Rosemont offices getting salads. The bakery here is outstanding. I love the foccacias, bagels and breads. Their cakes however are on a different level! We get most of our birthday cakes here (or DQ) and are always amazed. I have some pics posted of our recent bday ones. The downfall of this Mariano's is produce. I have had too many of my fruits and vegetables spoil within 24 hours. This is crazy for the prices you pay - it is not cheap produce! I guess I could bring it back, but that doesn't sound like a fun experience. This is a slightly elevated grocery store, but far below some of the other Mariano's (Glenview, Harwood Heights, Libertyville). read more

Great supermarket with a extensive hot food partition! The bakery houses many sweet treats and I would recommend it to everyone, they sometimes also have freshly baked cookies for sample and they're whole cookies too! The fresh vegetables are great however watch the due by dates on some of the boxed spring veggies. There were a few boxes where i looked through and some were rotting away and the usual brown vegetable juices were sitting at the bottom of the container. After buying an item which was on sale but did not reflect on my receipt, i talked to customer service and they were more than happy to fix the issue. I am a long time resident of Park Ridge and shop or shopped Mariano's on a frequent basis. I stopped coming here because it's just horrible! Today I shopped there, thinking "oh maybe things are better." No! The management is horrible, the workers are terrible. The produce is awful, nothing is fresh. The store is as filthy as it gets. I always have a problem with the people who work in the seafood area and I can't stand it! Again today, I go to seafood and the hispanic gentleman who is always there, ignores my presence. Then he finally says "I'll be right with you." A few minutes go by and this guy tells another young gentleman to help me. I almost lost it when this tall, young gentleman named Sean says "Hey, what's up?!" WHATTTT?! I don't want to be treated like his buddy, I'm a customer and I like professionalism. So, I don't bother telling a manager as nothing will happen. As usual , I go to checkout and only one register is open (as usual). I had gone to self-check out "as usual" and said to myself, Never again! This place has gone way down hill. I am really missing the old Dominick's right now. I hope they close Mariano's.. read more

PHARMACY REVIEW: I had switched to Walgreens when the Dominick's closed, but I'm coming back to Mariano's. While 24x7 hours and a drive thru are nice features, what one really wants in a pharmacy is to have a prescription filled quickly and correctly, and that comes down to service. I appreciate the service at Mariano's. They seem to work as hard to help me as they would their own friend/sister/favorite aunt. A couple of times when I've had a tricky prescription called in by a doc, Mariano's pharmacists were immediately on the phone with me discussing my best options. They are highly responsive and concerned. read more

If you are driving this location can be a challenge to get in and out of due to the busy interchange. Great affordable lunch spot, and a lot of folks take advantage of this. Comp lemon water provided in sitting area upstairs. Convenient mini check out stations to process the lunch crowd. Usually the 'view' is not bad at this store either ;) Underground parking is a nice bonus, especially in Chicago weather. read more

I came to this location on break. Everything smelled amazing when I walked in but the service did not replicate my experience. I went to Todd's BBQ and the gentleman didn't great me, I get bad for asking for a sample. I felt like I was inconvenience him. After I tried the pork and brisket. I wanted the pork plate. I went to pay, once I opened my box quickly realized it was brisket. I didn't have time to go back and ask for the other. I did observe this same interaction of not servicing the customers for about 10 minutes. I rated 3 star because the food here is really delicious. read more

I just gotta say it cause it needs to be said... Good selection, good prices (great sales) and super awesome store (olive bar, ready food, etc )... in theory. Most of the time it's great, but I've been going there consistently the past few months and I've been disappointed. You would too if you paid $5 for cauliflower and only got to use 1/4 of it because the rest was moldy/rotten, or if you bought a slice of cake and it was so hard you could actually knock it on the table. I went there tonight looking for avocados and both the regular AND organic were rotten, with no other selection to choose from. A friend of mine works there, I asked him why the produce is so bad, he says it COMES IN MOLDY. One time the Starbucks barista ranted to me for 5 minutes about how much they hate the store manager. I waited 10 minutes tonight after asking the girl from the bakery to come over and cut some bread, because no one else was working with her. That's not all, just some. The employees aren't very friendly, which is fine. They're not rude, so I don't really care. I think what's wrong here is management. If that was fixed I would love to shop here. This location is not the nicest nor are the people the best. It feels like the workers and the crowd are all coming from section 8 housing/welfare. Not that there is a problem specifically with that, but these folks are extremely incompetent at their jobs and can't seem to answer basic questions regarding refunds or locating an item. We've always wanted a Mariano's closer to home. While there's one in Arlington Heights and another in Harwood Heights, getting our very own in place of the failed Dominick's on the corner of Higgins & Cumberland is great. We came in the evening of the grand opening. This was a pretty awesome store layout even as a Dominick's prior to Safeway ruining them. The store is on a little bit of a hill, with parking in the lower level and above ground. Then there is a partial second floor which serves as a dining area overlooking the store below. While there is no snack bar or sandwich shop up there, I think there is plenty of room to add one. For now, the view is splendid from the top. We came here in the evening after the opening day euphoria was winding down and the crowds were a lot smaller. The front of the store glowed in blue and green lights reflecting off the Mariano's sign, not like what you'd see in an ordinary store. The moment you walk in, there is a flower section on the right, a coffee shop on the left, and a salad bar/gelato/deli sandwich counter immediately in front of you. In an unusual twist, there is an cluster of self-checkout kiosks right there in front. How brilliant is that? Instead of buying flowers and waiting in line with the lady who bought a cart full of groceries, now you can check out a small pickup & carry item right by the exit and walk out quickly, without going through the entire store. The produce section is a bit more expensive than other stores but offers some unique choices. My favorite is the freshly squeezed orange juice, a must-have item on every visit to a Mariano's. The bakery is right after the produce. Great selection of breads and bagels, plus a well-stocked donut shop with a very attractive collection of the glazed, frosted and sprinkled creations that are more impressive than Dunkin's and a great deal at 65 cents each. Cheese? A "gouda" variety for everyone, from bricks of parmesan to entire wheels of cheese. Aisle after aisle, there's a lot more choices than you'd see in a Jewel. I tried an apple balsamic vinegar that was thick, sweet, sour and syrupy, perfect for sprinkling on a salad. After an hour of shopping, we paid for our groceries and stopped for a gelato at the end. This place is excellent, somewhere I'd look forward to going, as opposed to grocery shopping in a chore-like sense, this place is fun and refreshing to see, taste and experience a different kind of store. read more

I won't give them 2 stars because I go here a lot. But a lot of the young employees are extremely rude and unaware of their surroundings (and I'm pretty young). Unfortunately I've heard far too many conversations at check out involving who had sex with who, how drunk someone gets off of certain drinks and gossiping about the next girl on the other register. Bottom line, staff meeting needs to take place regarding these conversations that are taking place in front of customers. Especially regulars like myself who hear this stuff 1 out of 3 trips to this store. read more
