I LOVE Ulta! This location is literally 5 minutes from our place which makes it the perfect location. The associates are very friendly here! I came in to grab a few things for our upcoming trip because I know they have travel-sized items. My husband laughs at me when I give him the time I'll be home from Ulta because he knows its always going to be at LEAST a half hour later. Whoops. I get so distracted in here! There's so many awesome products and I love trying out new things. I had various associates ask me if I needed help finding anything throughout my visit. I needed travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, and dry shampoo for our trip. They didn't have the shampoo/conditioner brand I wanted but they did have Batiste, which is my favorite dry shampoo in a travel size. WOOT. I also ran out of my eye shadow primer so I snagged another of those. My absolute favorite primer is by Benefit, the "Stay don't stray." It literally lasts 12 hours and is worth every penny. I tried a new lip shade from BareMinerals from their "Gen Nude" matte liquid lip color line. It's amazing and is long-lasting without over-drying. LAST, one of my friends recently bought the Dip Nail Starter Kit and could not stop talking about it so I decided to give it a try. It was $35 which I was so surprised by because it costs that much ++ just for one manicure to have it done in a salon. I tried it out and I have a lot of practice to do but it turned out so well! Brenda mixed up my color and I had to stop her to ask what color she was tinting my brows. We then had a conversation and she applied the tint. Then she started waxing. I thought maybe she was just cleaning up the center since the tint was still on and we hadn't discussed shape at all. After the second strip I stopped her to ask how she was shaping my brows. Lady at the register wouldn't let me use my $20 off $100. I was told it doesn't include what I purchased. She used my 20% off and took off $4/$5. I went to my car and added the same items to my cart on the app and used the $20 off coupon and my purchases qualified. I went back in the store and explained that the coupon DID IN FACT WORK. She kept cutting me off as I was trying to explain the issue. It's like she didn't want to hear it and only defend her coworker. I understand people make mistakes but Jesus christ, just listen to what I'm saying. Izzy kept pulling my hair really hard while blow drying/styling my hair, despite the fact that I told her my scalp is sensitive. She curled my hair, and it looked awful but I wanted to get out of there cause I was in pain, so I told her it looked good. "No problem," I thought. "I'll just straighten my hair at home, and it'll probably look better." Nope! She completely butchered my layers! I should've listened to the reviews. I'm reviewing the salon/make-up "artist". I went in today to get my make-up applied for my baby shower. I told the woman that it was a daytime event and I just wanted something light. I'm lucky to have really nice skin, so I'm not sure why she caked on heavy foundation and concealer, then bronzer that didn't match my extremely fair skin. I should have spoke up at that point, but i was feeling anxious over my baby shower that was starting soon and just very optimistic that it would turn out well. After all, I trusted she was a professional and knew what she was doing. The lipstick started running as she was applying it and instead of wiping the stuff that was running off my lips, all she did was apply more concealer over the violent red lipstick. She nearly forgot to apply the eyelashes, and tried to attach them *after* the glue had already dried (because she had put the glue on and then forgot about them). After the "artist" was done, the eyelashes were literally falling off as she was printing my receipt and she tried half heartedly to fix it while standing at the front. Then one fell off while I was waiting in line to pay. At that point I was fighting tears and didn't have time for them to correct the mess that was on my face, I was going straight to my shower after I had makeup applied. I got to the car and it was even worse in natural light. I knew I had to take it off, I couldn't go to the restaurant looking like that. The women who were near the salon found me make up remover and I took it all off in the bathroom and my face looked much better. Honestly I didn't expect anything AMAZING (it was only ulta, after all...) but I'm incredibly disappointed, and had to go to my shower with no makeup on and puffy eyes from crying because of how disappointing and upsetting it was. I paid $50 for the "pleasure" of this experience. I plan to call in the morning to get a refund (I'll even take store credit), because I didn't have time to deal with asking for a refund after the nightmare makeup application and removal. Please be aware: If you have something important to do, if the event means anything to you...save yourself the upset and just do your makeup yourself or get it done somewhere else. This woman was not a professional -- to be perfectly honest, I'm positive my husband could have done a better job just by following some YouTube videos. These 3 young men charged in and brazenly stole expensive perfume, stuffing all of it into black bags - all the while was customers were walking around. No security, no one doing anything to stop them. Can we feel safe to shop in this store? What is Ulta going to do about preventing these retail theft gangs who come in? Are they armed? Organized retail crime is a $43 billion business. There was a recent article written in the Chicago Tribune about it. This stolen merchandise is then sold on Amazon, Ebay, and other online sites. Terrible customer service. Everyone around me that was of European descent was asked did they need help while I, an African American was not asked if I needed help. When I finally sought out a rep for help I was treated very harshly. I had a question regarding if a product had protein in it. The first rep I asked said go towards the back of the store and ask someone because she only works the dermatology(I may have got the name wrong) section. So I find someone in back and she had to ask someone else. That person tells me oh read the ingredients. I would think they should be able to help with product recommendations etc. Especially since right next to me a rep was helping someone that was trying to decide between pattern beauty and olapex. This isn't my first time encountering poor customer service from this location. I may be black and dressed down but my money spends the same. I WILL NOT return to this location. It can feel overwhelming to go to a store to try to find foundation that fits your skin tone. Ulta offer great testers. I have been to stores were the testers were horrible; so dirty, not much variety, or even lack of product on the tester itself. Testers help the customer not only see which color fits best but also the consistency of the product. We are all unique and require different needs. Some people have dry skin and some people have oily skin. Having testers will help customers find the right one for them. These are examples of why I feel Ulta offers a great selection of products. The store and the employees are great. The store is clean and bright. Ulta is always well organized and fully stocked. Sometimes they do run out of one item, but you can always find something similar. Ulta has a big location. Even though they have so many products it is well organized. The store is not cluttered or dirty. The employees are always nice. They ask you if you need help looking for something. The employees are very knowledgeable about the cosmetics. I asked for their suggestion on a particular item and they showed me something better and less expensive. I love this product now. This helps customers that need more assistance.
