This salon came highly recommended and don't get me wrong, the stylists are extremely nice and there were some great conversations that I had during my session. I came in with an image of what I wanted and I was very excited about having my hair done this way. What I received is not what I asked for at all and there are spots where it looks like the bleach and dye just didn't take and in my opinion looks badly done. I made sure to let the stylist Joe know that I was looking for a balayage/ombré and how I've had bad experiences with other salons when trying to get balayage/ombré done. I am again in a situation where I am unsatisfied and spent a lot of money for what I did not ask for. I also previously had green hair and I knew that the color would be difficult to get rid of and/or cover, but I was told to "ignore it and pretend it's not there" which I find completely unprofessional to tell your client. I initially was going to give this salon a 3/4 rating but once I went home and actually looked at my hair I was heart broken. read more

I have been going to one of the hairdressers that works here since I was 16 years old; back from when she used to be at Gallery of Hair in Dunning. As a loyal client, I followed her when she moved on to Silk Style Lounge in Norridge. She is still a fantastic hairdresser however, the administrative staff here need to go. There have been numerous times (5 to be exact) where I show up for my scheduled appointment and am informed that my hairdresser isn't in, left early, or didn't wait for me to get there (when you're 5 minutes late). And of course, when you ask, 'don't you have client's phone numbers on file to call them when their hairdresser leaves to notify them?', she responds, 'uh you were late'. I'm sorry, but it doesn't take brains to call a client and let them know their appointment is no longer. It's common decency. Again, this isn't an insult towards the hairdresser, but most definitely on how this place is ran. If you plan on keeping clients, have the courtesy to call them when their appointment is apparently canceled. Keep in mind, they ask for your number when you schedule an appointment, therefore, there is literally no reason to have a client drive all the way there and not be seen with no warning. Get your act together, or hire new staff to handle the books. read more

Anna is a goddess. Enough sad. She has some serious skills! I wouldn't be going to her still after almost five years if she didn't do a fabulous job. Her blowouts give me babe hair. Amazing salon. I take my 15 year old daughter here to see Johna (sp?). My daughter has a unique style & no one has ever been able to give her a haircut she was completely satisfied with until she went to Johna. Johna listed to my daughter & worked with her to design something that was completely what she was looking for. Johna also transformed my daughter into a stunning beauty for her former military ball - giving her one of the most amazing up-dos I have ever seen. Besides amazing stylists this salon offers an upscale atmosphere that is second to none in the area. It is beautiful decorated, they also always offer coffee, iced tea or lemon aid. And - they're prices are beyond reasonable and everyone there is extremely friendly & down to earth - none of that snobbish salon attitude here. I have been going to this salon for about 2 years. I found them passing by and seen they were all stylists from The Gallery. I hate that place but for some reason I thought I'd give this place a try since it was smaller and had good reviews. I always see Claudia. I started seeing her based on a review stating she does great blonde highlights. Score! She does. She always does them perfectly. I follow my hair stylist, Jana, to whatever salon she's at and she told me about this fabulous salon. It is so brand new, beautiful, clean and everywhere you look, there is something nice to look at from floor to ceiling! The salon is inviting and open and you don't feel cramped or smell any hair dyes. When you get your hair washed, the chairs are so comfortable because you don't have to lean back and hurt your neck and they actually have warm water unlike other salons where almost every time I got my hair washed, they didn't have any hot water. There's plenty of free parking unlike some places you go where you have to drive around in circles trying to find a parking space or have to pay to park. Everyone there was so nice, friendly and helpful, always making sure I was comfortable, if I needed anything to drink, etc. I have been a client of Jana for at least 13 years and Jana actually listens to what you want to do to your hair and offers suggestions unlike other stylists at other places, if you tell them to cut off only an inch and they end up cutting off six! If you become a regular of hers, she keeps a record of what she has done to your hair. Joe, the owner, got the best stylists and you won't be disappointed! read more

To start, I am very finicky when it comes to my hair. I have it cut short, and it needs to be just the right way. I've bounced around salons over the years, and came to accept that I will get a good haircut 1 in 4 times. Claudia at silk style lounge, proved that statistic wrong. Didn't Make the Cut Live super close to this hair shop and NEVER knew of its three-year existence til recently. Been seeing great reviews here and wanted to check it out. Took my teenage son there for a cut with Buzz. He got good reviews. Place was completely empty when we went, which raised my suspicion about this place. No other customers nor stylists at 5 pm. We had to wait for the stylist to come out fr. back room. Really? There's not ONE customer to be found and we gotta wait? Buzz is very nice, very personable but not the best hairdresser. Not even close. I asked to cut the cowlick so that my son's hair doesn't stick straight up (which has been achieved, BTW by.another stylus.). Guess what? Next morning, a chunk of.hair.stood.straight up. When finished, I noticed my son's sideburns were uneven! In both thickness as well.as length. I told Buzz to fix and had to tell him AGAIN because they still were sloppy. At $22 for a man's haircut (instead of the median $15 - $18, I felt it was also.overpriced. More later.... read more

I started going to Carolina after my stylist got too popular and I could not get an appt. She started off just trimming and blow drying my hair which is very curly/frizzy. I eventually starting going to her for dye and brows. Hint only get your eyebrows done by someone with amazing brows. I'm never disappointed AND I always call last minute and she always gets me in even if she comes in on her day off. Great prices too. Oh and parking is ample ....which is honestly the first reason I came here.
