Do yourself and Marelli Brothers a favor...take your business somewhere else. I gave them my purse that had a tear (rip) in the shoulder strap loop. I also gave them a new loop (taken off another purse) to replace it with. They told me to come back in 2 days. I did. After looking everywhere for it it had not been fixed. Come back in 2 more days. I did. Purse still not fixed. They're apologizing profusely and PROMISING to get it done later that day. Come back tomorrow. I did. It still had not been touched. I say this is getting a bit ridiculous, they are soooo sorry. They swear it will be done. Come back again. I did (you guessed it...never touched). This happened 7 times. We are talking replacing 1 loop. The 7th time they tell me they'll fix it now. Come back in a little while. I did...and this is what they gave me (see photos). They did use the new loop I gave them...and somehow they actually RIPPED IT, TOO!!! I stood there, mouth agape in disbelief as he tried to convince me that "the new strap will hold just fine" (as he's yanking on the new loop now making the rip even larger). I tell him this just won't do. He finds another piece of leather to make a new-new loop and tells me to come back tomorrow. Now exhausted...I did. Still nothing had been done. As he was again apologizing saying to come back again I took the purse and told him I really did not want them to have it yet another time...and that I would not be coming back. I'm sorry I gave them so many chances. I won't be giving them any more. Do yourself, and Marelli Brothers, a favor...take your business somewhere else. read more

They have been repairing my shoes for 30 years and apart from being sweet and wonderful and good they do the best shoe repairing ever. And the turn around time is more than reasonable. I really wanted to support a local business, especially one that had been in town for so long. I dropped off a pair of shoes to be resoled and was told to come back in 2 weeks. I've read on yelp that they often run behind, so I figured wouldn't rush back in exactly 2 weeks. Also, I can only come by on Thursdays because my work schedule doesn't align well with their store hours. I returned 3 weeks later (1 week past the pick-up date) and my shoes hadn't been worked on yet. It was early in the morning and the guy told me to come back at 2pm that day. I called at 3pm and was told they were still "putting the finishing touches on" and to come back the next day. I'm back here the following Thursday (4 weeks after I dropped off my shoes/2 weeks past when they were supposed to be ready) and the store is closed even though it's 45 minutes after their opening time. I'll come back in the afternoon and pick up my shoes regardless of whether or not they're done. read more

Everything about this shop indicates high quality. You can even buy repaired shoes that were never picked up. They have fabulous colored leather laces to spark up your hiking boots. They can pop up a little spot on the top of your boot to protect your tender sore hammertoe! And no sign of private equity. And you just can't worry about where your kids will get their good leather shoes repaired in the future. read more

I took a pair of Chanel boots in because they were squeaking. they said come back in five days we will have them completed. went back it took them 30 minutes to find them. didn't even get to them. went back a third time. nothing done. they said theyd have to remove the sole. over a month goes by. they don't call to tell me they can't fix them but they go ahead and ruin my boots. so my husband went into pick them up. they lied to him. I inspected them when he got home with them and saw how they destroyed them! horrible place with a bunch of liars who destroy other peoples property. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Definitely the place to go for most shoe repairs, I have used them on other occasions and this experience was just a good as the last times. I had a shoestring hook break on a pair of lace up Wolverine boots that I loved to wear all the time. I first sought out to replace the boots not thinking of getting them repaired. But found out that this boot was discontinued. So, I turned to Yelp for shoe repair totally forgetting about these guys ..lol They popped up and I was like "oh yeah, I remember these guys'. I was extremely happy when I went in and they said they could fix my boot. I dropped it off and would be able to pick up the boot in a couple of days. I imagine that this is a dying art..a lot of older gentlemen working on other shoe repairs. All said and done it only cost me $10.00 versus buying another pair for $175.00. Great Service, they do accept credit cards but prefer cash payments though. read more

Great local spot that's been here 100+ years. They're honest, reliable and focus on the customer. Last time I went there I needed to fix a zipper on my golf bag (kept falling off). I had assumed I would need to replace it. On the spot they took out a special tool (that's looked about 100 yrs old), tightened up the slider and after about 15 seconds sent me on my way free of charge. They easily could have kept the bag and either replaced the zipper or made the fix. Saved me so much time (and a little money). Thank you!!! read more

I didn't have any issues when I dropped them off at Martelli Brothers they mentioned that they needed to order my specific soles and that it would take about 2 weeks. Too bad they are likely the only shoe repair for miles. After keeping my handbag for an entire week they didn't bother to sew three inches on the strap until after I arrived to pick it up. No apologies; no discount until I complained about the $15 for a few minutes work. I really hate to write a bad review for a small independently owned historic business, but after my first and last visit, I'm thoroughly dismayed at why anyone would go here for anything. If you want to make a visit to a Simpson's episode where Homer is running the nuclear power plant, then it might be worth the laugh, but I'd recommend rewatching the episode on tv as opposed to watching it play out in front of you. I go in with a pair of boots to be shined and a pair of shoes for repair. I'd read many of their yelp reviews and got the sense that a lot of Marin residents love this small business. I walk in at 12:40PM and the place looks like a menagerie of sorts, but hey this isn't unusual for a shoe repair shop. I did question why there was a mattress in the front of the store, but whatever floats your boat. The guys take my shoes and give me claim checks for each and tell me to come back a week later to pick them up. I come back on the day they tell me to and ask for my shoes and he asks me when they were supposed to be ready. I point to the claim checks and it says Tuesday. He does a tour around the shop and comes back and tells me to come back after 2pm. I see a sign on the desk that says pickups ready only after 2PM. I'm new, so I chalk it up to my being a first time customer and not knowing the rules. I return just after 2pm and once again present my claim checks, and he goes back into the abyss of the matrix once again and comes back after 10 minutes and says, we found one pair, but we can't find the other. "Do they have laces?" I tell him I can come back into the abyss and help him find my shoes and he says no, they've got it covered. He goes back to search once again for my shoes. This time another guy comes out and tells me they've found my shoes, but the repair hasn't been done. He asks me to come back in 30 minutes. What can I do, I go out and wait another 35 minutes and come back in for the 3rd time and present my claim checks to the original guy who looks at me like it's the first time he's laid eyes on me. I see my shoes laying on the table behind him and he heads back into the abyss to do another tour around to find my shoes. He comes back dumbfounded, and I tell him they're sitting on the table right behind him. If I hadn't just experienced this first hand, I'd think I'd seen it on a sitcom. Like someone mentioned in a previous review, "this place should be in a tv show". She's right on, because Marelli Brothers is a full on comedy sketch. read more

I went in to Martello Brothers for what seemed to me a pretty straightforward fix for my hiking boot. They agreed and within a few minutes they'd placed a stitch that made a huge difference in the usability of the boot. When I tried to pay they said , "It was just a single stitch" and they wouldn't take anything for it. Integrity and kindness. I have known of this place for years, since 1970. They have always done a great job on shoes, purses, etc. repairs. Recently I took in a coach purse in which the purple dye had been stained with antibacterial gel that had leaked onto my purse. They took the time to explain that if they weren't able to remove it they could possibly try and die it the same color in that section. They telephoned me a couple times with the results and stated they did the best job they could. I trusted and believed them based on the reputation they've had for years. I love this place! Friendly, knowledgeable people at the front desk. Great results. I get rubber not skid soles added to my Italian loafers so I don't wear out the non-replaceable soles and have to pony up 11 million bucks to buy another pair. I got my horse's leather breast coller repaired and it looked almost brand new. When I got I back I saw they had only fixed one side. I asked to have the other side done. When I picked it up they said Ok, here you go. And I said I haven't paid. They said "nope, you paid." I said that's not fair for you, I will pay for the second one as well." I lost.
