I had a pair of pants hemmed and after I picked them up, I realized they were still about a half inch too long (they didn't offer to let me try them on at the time). I took the pants back and they refused to fix them without charging me another $40. The rude woman at the front would only say, "this never happens, when I pin the pants, they are always right". The woman who works here is lovely, the owners not so much. I brought a shirt in for stain treatment, they didn't get the stain out and also stretched out the shirt to the point of being unwearable. The owner (Archie) said it was 100% the fault of the shirt manufacturer, and they played no role in the problem (huh?). He did nothing to try to resolve the issue, not even refunding the cost of the dry cleaning (never mind the cost of the shirt). I had been a frequent customer up until interacting with Archie, and now will take my business elsewhere. read more

Awful Awful Awful. I honestly have never experienced such bad customer service. I was new to town and looking for a dry cleaners to clean some animal vomit from a down coyuchi duvet insert. I went to pick up the insert today and found that they had machine washed and dried the piece (just like I could have done at home), which you are explicitly not supposed to do with wool. The owner said to me that she was not told that they should not have done that and that she didn't know that it was wool. My response was, there is a very visible tag on the piece, you've been in the industry for 30+ years (her statement) and if you had any questions, wouldn't you call the patron ahead of making a decision that would cost $500+. To top it all off, the owner then wanted me to pay for the unit that she had just ruined. I am somewhat speechless on the level of service - never again will I go here. read more

So here are the reasons why I love it: -punctual and on time service -if you say please they'll get that suit you needed cleaned yesterday taken care of pronto. -I think it's a family affair -no quackery (you know like promises of selectively sourced organic solvents for your hand woven hemp and alpaca vest from the Altiplano etc) -reasonable prices in the middle of $ausalito. -no grumpy attendants behind the counter. -no crazy pets belonging to the owner that otherwise yap and nip incessantly at other places. -if I was a country songsmith I'd write a tune about this place. Highly recommend!!! Emergency alteration help. I called on our way to the airport to fly down from Oregon with my family for a wedding. Disappointed with the service. Ladies we're very friendly and prompt but I took a 100% cotton ladies top into them with a grease stain on the front as I was afraid to touch it myself so wanted to leave it to the professionals. I went back to collect it to see that unfortunately they were unable to get the stain out. I was charged $8 and brought it back home. Before I decided that it was fit for the trash I tried to treat it myself and after 3 treatments of dish soap, bicarbonate of soda and soaking the stain was removed or very hard to spot. I should of just done it myself in the first place but thought a dry cleaners would of been able to do more than I could. read more

I made a yelp account just to review Caledonia Cleaners because my experience was that wonderful! The night before a cross country trip to Sausalito for a friend's wedding, I tried on my bridesmaid dress and realized it was too long. I called Caledonia based on their positive yelp reviews and spoke with Freshte, who was lovely and reassuring and told me she would be able to hem the dress overnight and have it ready by the wedding. When I brought the dress in, she could see how worried I was about the tight timing (less than 36 hours before the wedding!), but promised me she would have it ready and that either she or her husband would personally deliver it to me. She even gave me her cell phone number to call if I wanted to check in. The next night, her husband drove all the way to our hotel (at 10pm) to hand deliver my dress. I cannot believe how lucky I was to find them. I hope you don't find yourself in such a stressful situation, but after that experience I would trust Freshte with just about anything! read more

This was a few years back but when I pointed out the obivious stitching and marks from pressing incorrectly the manager was rude and totally defensive. This is the worst cleaners in Marin. I had a pair of pants altered that they made much too short. Not only were they too short, but one leg was shorter than the other. The owner told me that I must have worn the wrong shoes to have them altered, which was not the case. She said that her employees do not make mistakes and could not tell me why one leg was shorter than the other. The jeans could not be fixed, so I gave the $200 pair of pants to Goodwill, plus the $25 alteration fee. I would never recommend this place. There are plenty of good cleaners in Sausalito and Mill Valley. read more
