Used this spot for the first time, after walking by many times. I had one formal dress dry cleaned. The cost was very fair, and the turnaround time was quick. When picking up the dress, the staff did let me know that there was a small stain which they couldn't get out (it was barely visible, I wouldn't have noticed if they hadn't pointed it out). I appreciated that they informed me of this, and asked for more details on the fabric composition, before attempting treatment of the stain. It was evident that the people at Montecito Cleaners are very knowledgeable and responsible with garments. I'll definitely be back the next time I need something professionally cleaned! read more

I have been using Montecito Cleaners for several years and have been completely satisfied with the quality of their work, price, and interactions across the counter. My heaviest tasks for them usually consists of formal shirts , suits, and tuxedos which I use in my role as a classical choral singer with a major local orchestra, chorus, and other jobs. But I also take my better quality casualwear there. A full tux dry cleaned for $25 is reasonable given that I fully trust them with my expensive custom-made professional attire. I cannot say that about some other places I have taken them. They have accommodated my occasional quick turnaround needs in an efficient and friendly fashion. I notice that they have recorded my preferences, but still extend the courtesy to ask every time whether these are still my preferences, e.g. shirts lightly starched and hung on hangers vs. folded. Having owned and run a busy retail store for 10 years myself, I know how difficult it can be to try to please everyone . I further suspect that the difficulty of pleasing everyone in dry cleaning may only be exceeded by the headaches of pleasing everyone in retail food services. Over & Out. read more

I brought in fine lace Dutch curtains for cleaning and the results were great and they now reflect their white beauty.

I received a text saying that I would receive 25% off my order if I replied "yes" to the message, which I did. Upon picking up my order, the employee told me the discount would only be honored if I would have told her that I was using the coupon at the time of "drop off". I explained that I had replied to the text, showed it to her, and she said it was not valid. I asked her to call the owner and they then tried to give me 10% off vs. the 25% that was offered. Not only was is a compromise of ethical business practice, but the employee was incredibly rude and in no circumstances acceptable. They also failed to get spots out of clothing that I know can be removed (as I have had similar stains taken out by other dry cleaners). read more

Very bad experience, not my first time, and they are refusing to do any work I asked. To do 3 straight stitches for the pillow case they priced as $50. Absolutely ridicules. I ask today how much would be to dry clean a wedding dress, the answer was it will be worse after cleaning. Something a little different to do then man's shirt, they would refuse a service to you. I don't get all the 1-star reviews about the staff here being rude, I've never had anything but very polite interactions with everyone. I'm writing an update because they continue to provide a great service, the prices are reasonable, the clothes always come back clean. They'll also take back your used hangers and you can ask them to remove plastic when you pick-up so they can re-use those as well - appreciate the green efforts. Furthermore, I've always appreciated that when there is something they can't clean or they know it will be something that likely cannot come out, they're upfront about it, or they'll let me know, you're better off hand-washing this or spot cleaning that, etc. Still my go to spot for all things cleaning and minor repairs! read more

I'm in shock about the lack of accountability for damaging a garment and the combative nature of the staff here. I brought a jacket in over one month ago for several small stains. They said the garment would be ready the next day by 11. I came at 2 and they said it wouldn't be ready till after 4. When I came back for the jacket, it had been ironed and there was a white outline around the pockets where it looked like color had been removed. They assured me this was fixable and was from ironing. I returned a third time. They brought out the jacket. Same problem. Now the hem was also loose. They assured me they could fix it and they would make sure to address the problem. Fourth time I went, they brought it out - same problem. They said there was nothing they could do and tried to charge me. When I said this was unacceptable and that they had damaged the garment, the manager said I should contact the store I brought it from. When I explained there is no way that the store I bought it from was responsible for dry cleaning damages, she said that it was a manufacturer problem and this would have happened at any dry cleaner. I read her the "dry clean only" tag and also reminded her that they had initially tagged it as an "ironing/pressing too hard" issue that they could fix, but she maintained her stance in a combative tone. Finally, after realizing she wasn't going to get me to go away by telling me to contact the store and the manufacturer, she told me she would talk to the owner and call me back. I never heard from her even though I called several times. I finally went there. She told me she wouldn't charge me but there was nothing more they could do. I said she had damaged the garment and should pay a percentage or pay for the garment like a normal dry cleaner. She argued and said no. Then, she reactively and abruptly said, "fine, we'll pay you for it but you can't keep the garment." At this point, I just want to be done and the jacket has lost its value, so I agreed and left, but I'm still in shock at the lack of accountability, bad customer service, poor management, disorganization, and the fact that they actually took the garment after a month of wasting my time with this back and forth. I've been here before and it's fine as long as they don't ruin anything, but that's a high risk to take with designer clothes. I'm really disappointed. read more

I have recently started using Montecito Cleaners for my dry cleaning. Since I was new to the store, I mentioned a few things I needed done when my clothes were being dry cleaned. I mentioned that I didn't want my black linen dress to get shiny when pressed. They indicated that they would do a soft press. I asked if a cashmere sweater jacket could be placed in a bag before placed in the machine so my sweater was not being cleaned with all of the other clothes. They made a note in the computer very quickly. When I picked up my clothing I noticed that my clothes had been professionally cleaned and pressed/steamed. I also noticed that they had placed tissue paper under all of the shoulder lapels. Their pricing is also competitive. I highly recommend Montecito Cleaners. read more

Always fantastic service here. They go above and beyond supporting their customers and meet me every time with a smile. Even with their masks on! On one crazy weekend, a bridesmaids dress was left to be hemmed and cleaned and with Covid the customer was late to the pick up and would have missed the opportunity to wear the dress at the wedding on Sunday. I received the call in a panic at 6:15pm on Saturday night. After 2 phone calls to the property manager, I received a call back from John, the owner. By 7pm he had returned to the store to meet the customer and the wedding day bridesmaid dress was picked up. Customer was super super thankful. Great customer service!! read more

The worst place to get your clothes cleaned. They charge an arm and a leg and don't clean your clothes. I dropped off basic items and they came back worse than when I dropped them off. Furthermore they lost several items of mine and didn't provide reimbursement. Very poor customer service and rude people. read more

I'm fond of a certain green cleaners, but for perfect and reasonably priced jeans alterations, I come here. For $16 your jeans will be hemmed and the original hem can be used so you don't have to look like you're wearing altered jeans. They honestly do their alterations so well that you can't tell they weren't designed exclusively for you by your favorite brand. They're pretty speedy as alterations go (just a few days). They've also helped me with broken zippers and other annoying clothing issues. The parking lot is a nightmare, so go at opening time and you'll be glad that you did. read more

This is a family owned business. They know their customers and I have had consistently great service for 15 years.

I've been a customer of this business for 15 years until recently when I dropped off four sweaters for cleaning. There were only two ladies working at that time. A week after I dropped them off, a man called to tell me that a particular sweater had four pencil sized holes in it. I was very surprised. He described the sweater and I asked if it was made in Italy and he said yes. It was a fairly expensive sweater and my favorite that I've kept in mint condition. After we hung up, I called back and told him that "their protocol is to look at the garments prior to accepting and that they always tag stains or markings on the clothes, so I was confused how my sweater would end up with pencil size holes...." All of a sudden his tone became aggressive, which made me feel very uncomfortable and even though I told him I'd be there the following Tuesday to pick them up, I waited two weeks to insure only the ladies would be in the shop. After 15 years, this was a very disappointing and sad business experience. Accountability and courtesy could have saved them this customer. Picked up my jacket and two sweaters and was so elated at the quality of the cleaning that my eyes bulged and out came a "WOW!" The jacked I was sure would have some stains left on it from the work my deceased brother-in-law did when he worked on his 40 foot boat (I inherited the jacket from him). Brought a brand new suit and tie I wore ONE time to a wedding. Stopped by on the way to work, put the suit on in their changing room, noticed the back of my brand new tie has all the stitching torn out, and the liner is falling out. I politely point it out, say that I've worn the tie just once, and it's now damaged. "Well it wasn't like that when I put it in the bag, so you must've done that while you were in there." We dropped off a lightweight comforter to be laundered, they quoted my boyfriend $41 to just wash and fold, said it would take 5 days and made him pay a $20 deposit. When he came home and told me, I called and asked them not to touch it. My family used to own a dry cleaners, so i know that that is ridiculous. When i went to go pick it up, i asked to confirm that it would have been $41 he said yes, and when i said i felt that was high, he told me to do it myself and see how long it takes. I already know. Conveniently located in the Montecito Shopping Center, these cleaners are quick, fairly priced, and do good work. However, I keep coming back because of their customer service. I went in recently to pick up 12 pairs of pants and 4 sweaters - but I had both kids with me. The woman behind the counter helped me carry everything back to my car, and even held my daughter's hand as we were crossing the parking lot. I don't know why I didn't seek out Montecito Cleaners sooner, while I traveled to another city to pay exorbitant prices for less than quality cleaning. Not only does Montecito cold wash, air dry and iron good cotton blouses (old cleaner either dry-cleaned, causing a yellowing to the fabric eventually, or washed and machine dried, causing shrinkage), but they give advice on fabric cleaning needs and deliver to my home and pick up clothes in my absence and for free!
