They are a mother and daughter team. Ala is the mom and Sofia is the daughter. They are from Moldova, a small Eastern European country. The prices are almost as great as the work. I was so happy with the way they altered my summer dress. I've since returned to alter two more items. I love to support small businesses and since I am very petite, I've always got something that needs alterations. They take great pride in their work and are in high demand. Expect to wait up to 2 weeks for your clothes. I'm so thrilled to have found them!

I stopped by the local alterations to get my dress altered. I needed to reduce the length of the…read morestraps so that it was not pulling down too much up top. I walked in and the lady was able to help adjust the dress for me to see what it looked like. She asked if I wanted to hem the bottom and I told her I did not think I needed too because when the straps get shorten it would also change the length of the dress. However I did ask for her opinion as she has probably done plenty of alterations before and she said she would hem the bottom by about half an inch or so. They took about 3 weeks to alter the dress and made sure I knew that it was a CASH only establishment. I went back in 3 weeks later to pick up the dress. The man handed me the dress and asked for the money. I asked if I could try it on first to ensure it fit properly. He did let me try it on but was nearby as in he waited by the front door to ensure I would pay them before exiting with my dress... The dress fit where I had them adjust the straps. The dress length was okay. To be honest, probably could have gotten away with not hemming the bottom, but it's fine I guess. The total came out to be $100. Not sure about you, it does seem a little expensive for what was done. I was told they are very detailed when it comes to alterations so I decided to go with them. However, if budget is a priority for you, I'd considering looking around and comparing prices.

Got my wedding dress cleaned here, was good turnaround time and came out great (didn't have any…read morestains, but I had bought used and just wanted to make sure it was all clean before wedding). I was surprised by the cost, was $125 to clean it, which was the same price my dress would cost new (it's a simple polyester dress with draping, no layers, tulle, or buttons). It was technically machine washable but didn't want to risk it close to wedding. To be fair I never dry clean anything so had no idea what prices are these days, but I will definitely be machine washing it at home after the wedding!

The work done was fine, but I had…read moreasked for a rush order to be ready the next day by a certain time which was severely delayed at the time of pickup, and nearly cost me an important opportunity. I arrived 45 minutes after the agreed pick-up time, hoping coming a bit later would give her some extra time in case of any delays. When I arrived I was told my jacket wasn't ready, and to come back in 30 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes delay if I were to pick it up on the day of a rush order, so I left and went back home empty handed. I urgently needed this jacket for that day, and I paid a premium for it to be done by the agreed time. I would've been late by an hour to my appointment had I not a backup suit at home. I asked for a discount at the very least because of this delay, and she applied $8 off.

The owners are very pleasant and easy to talk to, but unfortunately, I would not recommend LMM for…read morecleaning delicate items. I took my Ethan Allen curtains to them for cleaning. I was warned that if the curtains had been exposed to sunlight for a long period of time, there was a possibility that the fabric could deteriorate or fall apart. I understood and accepted that risk. However, I got a big surprise when I hung the curtains back up. They had shrunk by approximately 3 to 4 inches. I still have a sample of the fabric with the original Ethan Allen care instructions, which stated that the curtains should not be exposed to water. Had the curtains been properly dry-cleaned and not exposed to water at any point during the cleaning process, they should not have shrunk. For that reason, I would not recommend LMM for delicate curtains or other specialty fabrics.
