love the floor. Lance was professional and did a great job. He suggested things we hadn't thought of. We would use again.

He drops patronizing comments around like crumbs from a donut. I imagine he's the sort that if someone tried to address it with him, he'd avail himself of responsibility because women are "over sensitive". I went in on Friday 11th August to inquire as to whether they could find a box of 4" X 3/4" Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba) flooring to finish about 15 square feet, which I am short. They took my name and number and said they'd call if they found some. About 45 minutes later, they called me back to say they'd located some. "Come on back in and we'll get that ordered for ya." Since I was already on the phone, I asked if he could take my credit card details so I wouldn't have to make the trip out there a second time. He seemed irritated and unwilling to do it, but I managed to persuade him to take my details, and remained generous and polite despite his dismissive tone. "Ok -- I think we'll be able to get that on the truck this afternoon for you." The following Wednesday (15th), I still hadn't heard from them. Since he hadn't issued a receipt or confirmation email, I checked my bank account to see if the payment had gone through. It had. Since nobody had called and he'd said the wood would be on the truck Friday, I figured it'd been plenty of time, so I went to the store. It hadn't arrived. The guy once again seemed harassed and irritated by the inquiry, refusing to make eye contact, and remaining slumped over his paperwork and computer screen, which were turned away from me. Turns out they didn't have it in the warehouse and they couldn't get it easily. He'd have to order a box from somewhere in New Jersey -- for which he explained I'd need to pay an additional $60. I wasn't willing to do that. I asked if he'd considered calling to communicate. He immediately wanted to talk about refunds. (!) Since I'm on a tight schedule of building, I suggested instead that if they normally carry 3&1/4" or 5" Jatoba, I could get my sample from the car and we could see which of the two would work best. When I came back in, his demeanor had shifted and he was suddenly friendly. It was clear that the 3&1/4" would work, I was willing to just move forward despite his inability to comprehend that I didn't need classes on how to install flooring in a house I'm building with my own two hands. Turns out they didn't have it in stock. It was going to take too long to order, so he offered a refund, but was unwilling to issue it directly to my credit card because there's a fee attached, and they normally issue checks to defray the cost. (!) Not long after I left, they called back and had located a box they could get to me the following day. It was a bit more expensive, but they offered to eat the cost, so I thanked them and moved forward. I showed up to pick up the wood first thing Friday morning the 18th -- a full week after first starting this and being promised different things that they couldn't deliver on. They loaded it in the car and sent me on my way in less than five minutes. At a stoplight, I looked down at the label on the box, which was poking through the seats. It said 5" Tiger wood. I called and told them that I was DONE, and they'd be issuing me a refund directly to my credit card right away, which they did. I was about 10x more rude to them than I would ever normally be. Ever. Naturally, they said that this "never, ever happens". And I'm really not proud of being so rude to them in this, but come on. They could've communicated or treated me with respect as a customer multiple times. Not only that, but if you've had a difficult interaction with a customer, you'd think it'd be in your best interest to double check the label on the box before it reaches the customer. So yes, it's the warehouse's fault for picking up the wrong box, but it's THEIR fault for not checking the box before following up with me. Additionally, being an empathetic, responsible human being in interpersonal interactions is not a super difficult skill to learn, and it goes a long way. Their mistakes have cost me over a week in wasted time, effort and energy during a tight building process.

We received quotes from a dozen contractors and none of them could stick to our budget. Rick provided some solutions that would help us stay under budget and still have a really nice space. It is now the BEST space in the house. We will be calling on Rick again for our next renovation. We had a one-year-old at the time of renovation and it was in the middle of the Covid 19 Pandemic. Rick and his team were incredible with checking on us and letting us know in advance how our day might be disrupted by the work. They were considerate of sound levels when he was napping and so courteous of our home life, which we were still adjusting to ourselves. This showed us a lot about the character of Premier 1 Properties. They care about the quality of their work, but they also care about their customers and their experiences during renovations.

These men didn't arrive until 10:30am to begin their day. They took a lunch break and left each day by 3pm! One day, I saw that they were using my extension cord that they'd taken from my garage without asking! Umm bring your own equipment please or at least ask to borrow. Only one of them could speak broken English. They were scared of my dog so I HAD to be home while they were working. It was ridiculous. Their drywall skills were pathetic and tape and muddying looked like my preschool kids did it. When I would show Rick their shoddy work he would had them correct it but it was over and over and over. Their paint work was poor. Parts of the floor tile had to be removed and replaced. We found The ductwork was left unhooked up and ceiling tiles right over unfinished ductwork. I would not recommend and I will never use again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY as they hire non English speaking men who do do not know how to do interior construction work. Egress window leaked too

Cabinets, appliances, top of fridge, etc. Garage was a disaster where most of the pieces were cut. I took numerous photos. A Michael's rep came out to review the mess. He commented he had not seen a "dusting" like this in a while (a "dusting?!). He asked what could Michael's do to make it right. He offered a $100, $150, or $200 off installation. I commented $150 or $200 would be nice. Flash forward several weeks. I went into Michael's to report yet ANOTHER issue (hall closet door track not glued properly). I inquired about the discount offered by the rep but the manager new nothing about it. He checked with the rep who, magically, seemed to NOT recall our conversation. I reminded the rep of the offer. He told me he would check and call me later that day. NEVER heard back. That's bad business, low integrity. A few more issues listed below: -I was told Merry Maids would send out a team to help clean. One person showed up from another business (?). She did the best she could but much to clean. -We switched from 3" baseboards to 5". A couple areas were left as 3". -Wrong color transition pieces were initially delivered and had to be reordered. The installers had to return to put in place. Michael's prides itself as being a friendly, family-owned business. However, much to be desired. There are many other flooring companies around. I would recommend using one of them instead.

I used the Yelp project assistant feature and after a short while, I received contact from Ron, via the Key Carpet Yelp business page. Ron quickly filled me in regarding his 45 years experience in carpeting repair and then reviewed some photos I sent him to get a better picture of my situation. Ron quoted me $400 for the job, using the extra carpeting material I had on hand and offered to come the very next day, Friday mid morning. Ron gave me several assurances he'd handle whatever situation was present and not to give it any more worry. I appreciated his confidence and stated flexibility regarding the job conditions and his intention to just get it done. Ron is old school and not a Prima-donna. On a prompt arrival, Ron and his helper Brayson moved our kids bed out of the way, tore out the old carpeting, filthy tack strips, and treated the area with an odor neutralizer before jumping into the installation. The whole job took almost exactly 3 hours from arrival to departure. Ron & Brayson were true beasts in knocking out the job! While the company was easy to communicate with prior to the work being done we had a huge hiccup during the actual work. While planning to sell our home we were also in the process of moving 4,500 miles away. We had multiple businesses coming to our home on certain days to do their specific jobs (cleaning, staging, photographing, open house etc). I was told several times exactly how long the installation of the carpeting should take and based all other appointments on what I had been told. While on a trip I received a call telling me the installation would take another few days, which was simply unacceptable. Thankfully, Key Carpet was able to pull employees from another job to finish ours on time. This whole process caused an extreme amount of stress and headaches. While we were happy with how the new carpeting looked, it was definitely not the smoothest process.
