The person working behind the counter was lovely and chuckled at my dad's poor jokes. Nice and quiet. I had to replace the order and I got a crispy thin crust Alfredo sauce with chicken and spinach square cut, and the loaded chicken bites with pineapple and jalapeño. I got there when it just came out of the oven and in the way home I tried the pizza and the crust was out of this world. It was fresh and very crispy. The pizza was super hot and it was sooo good. The loaded chicken bites were a very large serving feeding at least 2-3 people. These particular bites were SPICY!! I took off al the jalapeños and it still was spicy. It had melted crispy cheese and ranch drizzle ontop too. The chicken Bites were tender and fresh. They're also coated with a breading. They weren't greasy at all. I recommend both pizza and bites. We were greeted warmly, asked for a booth and were seated promptly. Ordered beverages and each tried a side salad: one the house w/shaved fennel, the other the starter Italian salad (oh my, both so good!). Loving extra thin crust, we ordered their newer Chicago Tavern Style (different from their tradition thin crust). CRAVE-ABLE! We ordered the Pepperoni Chicago Classic (pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions) and added sausage and green olives to it. I kid you not, the BEST pizza we've had in this area for a very long time! Their extra thin crust is made on premises (not premade elsewhere as so many do), and comes in 12, 14, and 16 inch sizes. Highly recommend!

Giradano's (Dupont Road) - first visit after a LONG time away…read more.. It's been six years since I frequented Giradano's on Dupont. I love deep dish pizza. Though I'm not a fan of waiting 45+ minutes for it to bake. And, I've not found value in an expensive Giradano's deep pizza. Hence, we haven't been back. However, on this evening, we wanted pizza and a nice outdoor patio. Giradano's has a nice, comfortable, attractive and covered outdoor patio. Relaxing and cool. Nice street view of Dupont road. The facility is large and seats a LOT of people. It's a great place for large groups! The team here hustled and helped each other out. Our waiter Michael did an outstanding job - very friendly, professional and paced the dinner & refills. We started with "The Best" bruschetta. We loved the smooth and creamy mozzarella cheese. You could swear that it was just made fresh. The tomatoes were very fresh tasting. The balsamic sauce was a bit thicker and bolder in taste - very good! The outside of the bread was firm but not crunchy. The inside was soft and easily cut with a fork. This isn't the "best" bruschetta I've ever had. It was very good though! On this visit we went with The Special pizza, 14 inch, with the traditional thin crust for $27.75 - yes, still expensive. And, it took waiter said it would take 45+ minutes to cook - same as a deep dish pizza. The pizza is very attractive looking. Love the rich red pizza sauce look and covering of mozzarella cheese. The crust has a pretty golden brown color and the toppings peak through the cheese! The crust used for the thin crust is the same as the deep dish. I found the crust to taste similar to a biscuit - not my taste. It was firm in texture when cooked but not crispy - liked that! The pizza sauce has a rich and thick red appearance. It is sweet to taste but doesn't come off thick. I found it to be a little bit watery - not my expectation. The watery consistency reduced the tomato and Italian seasoning flavors. The moist sauce somewhat accented the biscuit crust and topping flavors. I just thought it could have been much better if it were thicker in consistency. The green peppers, onions and mushrooms were sautéed. This gives them a bit more flavor and helped them blend with the cheese nicely. The Special pizza has sausage whereas the Chicago Classic has pepperoni. I was really hoping for a spicy and bold sausage flavor. What I got was a very mild meat taste. I was disappointed with the amount of sausage on the pizza as well - especially since it was the only meat. Overall we loved the patio and the relaxing atmosphere. The bruschetta was very good. The thin crust pizza was good and pricey. The team on this night was excellent!

Lexy's Pizza (Spring Street, Fort Wayne) - first time trying this pizza institution…read more I've seen lots of outstanding reviews for Lexy's. How can you live in the Fort and not visit the original Spring Street location that was founded by Lexy Demetroff since 1957? Well...I've now checked that one off my bucket list! I ordered a medium Everything pizza around 4:30p on a busy Friday evening. They quoted me a 40 minute wait time...and they were spot on. Lexy's pizza menu and prices are typical of most non-budget pizza places. They offer deep dish pizzas as well. The Spring street location is small with ample parking in the back. There is thin table that lines two walls with bar stools. I suppose you could eat in. However carry out is most common. The kitchen is wide open to the entry way. You can watch the pizza artisans doing their craft. I found the team here to be very friendly and welcoming while focusing on pizza making. In my first trip to Lexy's I found the pizza to be quite delicious. The crust is thin. The edges are crispy - yes, really crisp. The underside in the middle of the pizza was soft and nicely baked. No obvious added flavoring to the crust. Pretty much a plain flour dough. Lexy's motto is "Generous portions, Quality ingredients"...and that is what I found. The toppings were piled high on a bed of ground up American sausage. The rest of the meats and vegetables were plentiful and tasty. The toppings were held in place by a thick bed of fresh mozzarella cheese. The pizza is well baked as evidenced by the crispy edges and "frico" browned cheese. The browned and slightly crispy cheese added a different taste to the oozing bed of mozzarella that was below the surface. The sauce was not as prominent as I hoped. The toppings dominated the taste. The bit of sauce I could detect was slightly sweet and had a good tomato taste. The whole pizza was nicely moist. You pick up a good blend of different ingredient tastes. Cold Pizza Test - the next morning the cold pizza tasted almost exactly like the pizza from the night before - delicious! The pizza was still very moist. The crust was still very crispy. The flavor from the toppings did tend to faded a little.

However, the main reason for my one-star review is the serious sanitation issue we encountered. Bugs were present on the plates that were served to our table. This was alarming, unsanitary, and completely unacceptable for any restaurant. When we brought the issue to the manager's attention, they were gracious and did take care of our bill, which I appreciate. However, I was deeply concerned to see that the plates appeared to be placed back onto the stack rather than being removed from service and properly handled. A complimentary meal does not resolve a concern of this magnitude. Cleanliness and food safety should be a basic standard, and this experience left me with no confidence in the restaurant's sanitary practices. I will not be returning, and I intend to report the matter to the health department. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to consider dining elsewhere.
