Elegant restaurant, delicious food and great service! Lunch at Marcel, to begin our Girl's Weekend, was the perfect choice. The Patisserie's were beautiful and very tasty!

Dining at Marcel NYC is beautiful. It's perfect for a romantic date for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch. The service is exceptional and the food is top notch. If you love art, then you'll love being surrounded by valuable art pieces as your dining backdrop. Come early to check out in-house or special exhibits upstairs then ascend downstairs as another world of culinary beauty awaits.

Earlier today Age and I went to La Mercerie Pâtisserie at Marcel Restaurant. Opened on Friday, the hours are from 11:30 am till 10 pm. Located on the lower ground floor of the Breuer building which houses Sotheby's, the restaurant is stunning. The pâtisserie section is within the restaurant. Large cakes and pastries looked like jewels on the display case. Naturally prices are also steep. Age chose the Dahlia, a sugared pastry tart with sesame cream and black cherries ($20). Two viennoiserie of a flaky Palmier ($8), Brioche Feuilletée ($9) and a Madeleine with a vanilla infused white chocolate on top ($7) were my choices. We couldn't eat it there so we took it to the park and enjoyed each bite. Everyone at Marcel was kind and pleasant. Both Jonathan and Roman at the pastry counter were professional. We were each given the menu to feast on till the next visit. Brunch is now offered and one look at the prices made me almost faint!

WARNING! CAKE was AWFUL! FELL APART!…read more I ordered a cake from a professional baker (Soma cakes) a few years ago that was beautifully made but was a bit bland, so I decided to look for a different baker. I found BakeStreet online, and I chose a baker, only to find out these are not "professional" bakers but HOME BAKERS! I didn't realize they employ home bakers until I asked my baker for the address. The NYC address they use for their business is NOT a real bakery! I thought these were professional bakers working out of a bakery. I found this part to be very misleading and only found out after I selected my baker and paid a deposit. My baker was 30 minutes from the city by car. I had made a deposit, and even though my intuition told me to back out, I decided to take a chance based on her reviews. I'm really curious if the reviews for the bakers are from real customers. Makes you wonder. You have to realize these cakes are being made in their homes! There are no sanitary rules that you know are being observed. My cake was placed in a cardboard box, and although it didn't really look like what I wanted, and the tassel, lettering, and diploma looked amateurish, what can a customer do after they paid for the cake and need it for a special occasion. Seriously, this is a great way to get ripped off! Once we got home and took the cake out of the box, it was falling apart, and the company had the nerve to tell us it was made properly! This cake was worth $100 maybe $150 but NOT almost $400. A cake that is baked properly will not fall apart after a 15 minute car ride! At the time that I picked up the cake, I told her I could hold it in my lap, but she said it wasn't necessary and placed the cake in the car. My Soma Cake that lasted an hour in the car to a different location never fell apart! The company had the nerve to offer me a $50 credit for a future cake that I would NEVER purchase! Why would I purchase another cake from a home baker? Poor customer service! They can enjoy my money! What a RIP-OFF! If a cake cannot make it in 15 minutes from pick-up to your location, there is something wrong with the cake! If you want to have a cake beautifully made, use Soma Cakes but don't get the red velvet. She is very talented. Her cake looked so realistic and we received a lot of compliments, but unfortunately it was bland, but it was a lot cheaper than what this company charged me, or you can just make your own cake. I'm sure it will be better than the disaster I received! Also, PLEASE do your research on this company. They have bad reviews on TrustPilot! If you want an okay cake, order from here. If you want a cake for a really special occasion, please go somewhere else. Find a place with an actual bakery and professional bakers. You will pay the same amount but get better results and not have to deal with their awful customer service!

I originally made it for the main dining room but wanted to be in the green room instead and they were able to accommodate! We all got the lunch pre-fixe: - complimentary bread and butter: great baguette and the butter was soft and easy to spread- melts in your mouth ! - salad - French onion soup: last time it was too sweet for me, but this time was perfect! - French dip: the salad it came with was a little sour for me - chocolate mousse: I'm not the biggest mousse person and only got this because the blackberry dessert has nuts in it - strawberry sorbet: I actually liked this more than the mousse - ice cream sandwiches: this was vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate. This was on the house for my mom's birthday! Service was pretty good except in the beginning because we had to ask for some ice 3 separate times... I love the vibe of Grand Brassiere and the food is amazing so I will be back!

In the same bakery class as Maman, but an Acapulco low tide cliff dive in quality. I had great kouign amann and a croissant the first visit. Return visit found doughy, heavy uninspired croissants! Did the inspired owners sell? Quel dommage! Now it's just another humdrum high-priced loveless bakery, treading on past glory. Coffee is excellent. Lots of pour overs and other things that should be enjoyed, if it weren't for the cramped stool seating and no hooks under their counters. It deflates the nature of your morning enjoyment. It's office pick up and go. Except I don't have an office here. They mill some of their flours for whole grain breads. Nice fast sandwich case. Won't thrill ya, won't kill ya. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
