We had seen the place on Yelp and planned to grab something quick to go, but it turned into a great stop. The location is fantastic and convenient near the airport. The hostess was welcoming right away and directed us to the bar so we could place a quick to-go order. At the bar, the bartender gave excellent service and convinced us to try a couple of tacos along with the yuca fries and plantains we originally planned to order--and I'm glad he did. The Tacos Al Carbón were outstanding: grilled fajita beef with sautéed poblano and onion on flour tortillas topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. The steak was tender and full of flavor. The beans and rice were just right, and the plantains with coconut sauce were a perfect addition. The bartender also recommended a Stone Delicious IPA, which made the short wait enjoyable. We grabbed a Tamarindo agua fresca and bolitas de yuca for the road--light, flavorful, and perfect for the drive. Great food, great service, and a great find near the airport. Definitely worth stopping in.

We tried a Tamarindo fresh water - it was really but costly $7. Then, the Chicken Pozole Verde was delicious - amazing flavors, I almost cry... Oliver's tostada was very good too, the mix of flavor with Guajillo salsa was perfect. As dessert, I had a fried sweet plantains with special sweet cream I will definitely return

It's most certainly a dive, and that in itself is not a bad thing. The lunch fajitas are…read moresuspiciously cheap, if I'm not mistaken $10. Now, that does leave a lot of unanswered questions, but I'll just assume everything is above board. Fajita vegetables and proteins come out smoldering on a plancha, can't really complain about that. As others have mentioned the chips are no longer made in house, and as a result have the kind of consistency you might expect from bagged tortilla chips. The inside is rather chaotic and could use renovations, however given the rock bottom prices, I suspect you can't have it both ways. Personally I would rather pay more and dine at Lupe's or Animia's, but that's not to say that Ole's is lacking. It serves a unique purpose as the spot you take your rather frugal acquittances or friends to, or as a destination when you already know you're picking up the tab for a large group and are not feeling very spendy. That being said I always default to the fajitas here, the other menu items are not at all bad, just not as strong and lack the same value proposition.

Walking into Ole's immediately it's a friendly and fun kind of place. They seem family friendly but…read morefor the most part it came across as more of a dive bar with extra seating. Service was good. Kind and quick staff. We were mostly disappointed in the food. $50 for two dinner plates and queso that we didn't finish because it was mediocre. Maybe be someone else's thing but definitely not for us. The queso was flavorless and watery with a strange grainy texture. The beef tamales were small and burnt. All the sides were bland or watery too. The only enjoyable plate was the chicken chimichanga and even that had a few gristly bites. I wish I took a picture before eating but at that point we were famished from the day. Aesthetically the food looked decent but once you dig in its cafeteria food at best. This seems like a family run business and they seem popular with their usuals however it just wasn't for us. On the other hand they have great happy hours deals. I don't drink but if I did I think they're a good spot to drink well and eat bland enough food to not get an upset stomach.

My new favorite Tex Mex restaurant. Love the fajitas…read more It was my wife's and my first time here. Kayla gave us fantastic service. Ample seating with festive birthday. The manager also came and gave us free beef fajita samples since he found out it was our first time. The flavor and juiciness of the beef blew me away. My wife and I got queso to compliment the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa and bean dips. I was a big fan of the beans too, didn't think I would be. We ended up getting a trio (beef, chicken, shrimp) fajita 1/2 pound and it was perfect for the 2 of us. You can taste the grilled and charred flavor on the meats. The chicken and shrimp were slightly on the drier side but when combined with the sour cream, beans, guac, cheese, they were perfection. For the two people, the limitation ended up being more the toppings to the fajitas but it was just enough. At about $25 for 2, that was a steal. The queso was about $9. Right before we were about to leave, Kayla recommended the tres leches dessert and you know we had to try it. It was solid. Loved the cream on top. Definitely would come back again!

On our way back from Asia, my husband and I had a stop through the DFW area and immediately decided…read morethat we needed to take advantage of being back near a region that really knows Mexican food. Living in Sioux Falls has many positives, but distinct and deeply flavorful Mexican cuisine is unfortunately still something that's a little harder to come by compared to places like Arizona or Texas. So, we made it a point to stop at Lupe Tortilla while passing through Irving. The first thing we noticed was how packed the restaurant was during lunch. People were pouring in steadily, and the atmosphere had that energetic local favorite feeling where you know people come because they genuinely enjoy the food. Thankfully, the meal itself delivered. Now, was it the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But it was still leagues beyond most of what we've experienced lately back home in South Dakota. The carne asada especially stood out. The portion was massive, tender, and packed with smoky, savory flavor. You could immediately tell it had actually spent some time on a grill instead of simply being rushed out of a kitchen. We also enjoyed the tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, all of which had that comforting Tex-Mex richness and seasoning that we've really missed. Unfortunately, we were on a fairly tight travel schedule and couldn't linger the way we would have liked. Honestly, this felt like the sort of place where you could easily sit awhile longer, enjoy another drink, sample more dishes, and just soak in the lively atmosphere. Still, even as a quick stop, it was a great experience and a delicious reminder of how much we miss the bold Mexican food culture of the Southwest.
