We started with Tony's Favorite Nachos which consist of steak, chicken, chorizo or pulled pork (we chose steak) sautéed onions, peppers, house made queso, pico de gallo, guacamole, and black beans on top of freshly fried tri-colored chips. The flavors were truly amazing and often places skimp on the 'stuff' and give you a million chips - Dawsons has the perfect proportion so if anything, you have 'stuff' after the chips are gone. We loved these nachos and were from Texas so that says a lot. We also tried the Firecracker Shrimp, which are shrimp tossed in house-made honey sriracha sauce. These were unlike anything I've had. They had a crispy crunchy exterior and the sauce was to die for - I would buy the sauce alone if I could! It had heat but not crazy heat and the flavor was superb. Our table had the Beef Stroganoff. I must say I am not a fan of beef stroganoff - but this actually was prepared very well and had a very good flavor which kind of surprised me! We also tried the TriColored Tortellini with Chicken which had chicken, mushrooms, peas, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto cream sauce. The flavors were amazing together and I could have eaten more of this as well! We also had the Blackened Chicken Quesadilla which was a Cheddar jalapeño tortilla filled with sautéed chicken, black beans, roasted corn, house tomato relish, roasted red peppers, spinach, Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese. It was served with sour cream and Dawson's Cajun ranch. Although this was on the appetizer menu, it was easily an entree. It was stuffed with the ingredients and very flavorful and filling. All of the ingredients blended together very well and offered a mouth full of flavor in every bite! Finally, we tried the Bayou Chicken Salad which comes with Blackened chicken on top of iceberg/romaine mix with black beans jalapenos, roasted corn, fresh guacamole, house tomato relish, Cheddar, and Mozzarella cheese. It's served with tri-colored chips and Dawson's Cajun ranch. I left the chips and corn off. This was a generous salad with superb flavors. The dressing was wonderful - a little heat and a lot of flavor. Again, this was very filling as well. There was nothing I could find 'wrong' with Dawsons. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was just extremely good. I wish I could transport this place back to Texas so I could eat there more often!

You feel like you're going back in time about 40 years - and that's actually a good thing. The staff are all extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. I had the steak omelette. I've eaten many steak omelettes and this is the first time I've ever been able to order the steak cooked to my preference. Most places serve them well done. I asked for medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It also had cheese and diced green peppers and onions. Nice size and great flavor. Their hash browns were perfect - crispy on the outside but tender inside. The pancakes are large and nicely prepared - not too heavy but not too light! The waffles are also very good - very large and circular - not as thick as Belgian waffles but very good nonetheless. The fried sliced loaded potatoes were excellent. Cheese, bacon, peppers and onions - again, very tasty. Finally, biscuits and sausage gravy were also very good. The gravy had plenty of sausage in it and it was not too runny and not too thick! Our server was very kind, friendly, and patient helping the international guests who were trying to navigate the menu. I ordered eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was tasty, but my poached eggs were slightly more done than my preference. Unfortunately, my has browns cooled rather quickly as we were chatting , but were still tasty. My coffee was refilled promptly. It was packed on this Juneteenth holiday morning, but one of my favorite things on this morning was the kindness of the owner stopping by and greeting customers. I believe her and her now deceased husband have owned this restaurant over 40 years.

It's a little down home place with a good vibe - the decor is Indy 500 themed which would be expected given the location is a block from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The staff were friendly and appropriately attentive. We tried varieties of meat plate and pulled port sandwiches - all of the BBQ was excellent. The pulled pork was flavorful and perfectly done. The brisket was a good mix of moist and lean (I asked for a mix) and also prepared perfectly. The smoked sausage had a great flavor and was not overdone. The 7 Pepper gold sauce and the 7 Pepper BBQ sauce are awesome! Both have great flavors and the perfect heat - and are made in-house. We took a few bottles to go, which says a lot! The fried apples were quite tasty - almost like a pie filling - very good. The fries are tasty - crispy outside and soft inside. They pair perfectly with the 7 Pepper BBQ sauce! The green beans - well, just bland and flavorless. The coleslaw also lacked flavor. The cornbread was a traditional cornbread - drier than we like, but that's not anything wrong with it - just not the type we like. I would absolutely come back!

The beer and cocktail selection is extensive, and if you're a fan of Hard Truth spirits, you've come to the right place. They also sell bottles to take home, which is a nice bonus if you find something you love. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of indoor seating, a beautiful wood-beam interior, and a large patio for nicer weather. However, I had family come from California who wanted to have a good tenderloin, and I talked to people and everybody said, take them to mug n bun, you know, it's classic, great tenderloin, fun vibe. I regret the decision of going. My teenage nephew, said one word after 2 bites of his burger, and it summed up our entire experience,bleak. BLEAK summed up every bite of greasy, flavorless, cold food we tried. The root beer had no taste and the very expensive milkshake had no flavor and flet like just whipped ice cream. The ONLY good thing was our server, Jennifer. She was busting her butt to server everyone and trying to stay up beat in the heat.

The salad was larger than I expected and rather good. The mashed potatoes needed work - I'm a fan of real potatoes not just rehydrated flakes but for the price I wouldn't complain. The service wasn't 'warm' but they were attentive and everyone worked together.

The inside was bright, clean, well-appointed and spacious. Our wait person was friendly and prompt. I ordered the tomato bisque and grilled cheese special, while Gayle opted for a Patty Melt (with Fries). Both choices were delicious and just the right amount of food for me. Gayle left a fair amount of food on her plate, mostly due to a huge sandwich and lot for fries. I appreciated that this place offered beers that didn't have the word IPA in them, with my Oatmeal Stout being a great choice. Gayle went for her favorite Chardonnay preference. We both nursed our drinks and the fries as we were in no hurry to get the airport. The Library Restaurant and Pub was a solid choice, and one that we would repeat for either Lunch or Dinner.
