the best Donut in South Fremont. North has one call the Fresh Donut and Bagel off I-880 and Fremont blvd. Maple Leaf has the same pillow fluffy soft donut as my other favorite. I also like their bagels, just really good. The ham and cheese from Maple is to die for, just the right balance. The selection of coffee is also what I love. I know people complain about their "customer service". I get it, they get busy and we end up waiting and waiting. One of my guilty pleasures are donuts and I freakin' love this place! Not one of those newer fancy shmancy posh donut shops but the good ole fashion kind. They have a whole assortment of donuts from glazed to custard to crullers to holes. BTW, they're always best before noon ;) They also carry hotdogs and bfast sandwiches on bagels and croissants, holla! Their apple fritters are to die for! HUGE fatty yummy goodness! This place actually sells out of doughnuts. It could also be because it is next to a high school. So kids with high metabolisms go there for lunch and breakfast. Seriously the line is out the door with high school kids at lunch time. I stop by every once in a while for an old fashioned. My favorite type of donut is actually the apple fritter but if you don't get it early in the am, forget it. It's not that tasty by 10. This place is right next to thrift town. The big bummer for me is that Irvington high-school is walking distance away from this place so you need to be careful when you go or you shall be swarmed by a mob of high-schoolers. I had the pleasure of indulging in my first Maple Leaf donut tasting at work, one of my colleagues brought them for breakfast and I fell in love fast! At that time I had glazed and it was so delicious! Thier donuts are made fresh daily, aren't greasy nor taste like they've been fried in yesterday's oil. They have your standard variety but come early because they will have very little selection in the afternoon. The coffee is mediocre; your standard donut shop coffee but still good. They also serve bagel breakfast sandwiches that my sons love. I haven't tried them but they say it is good. The shop is pretty small and short of spectacular. There are few tables to enjoy your tasty treats while ready your morning paper. They have wonderful service. Prompt, courteous and friendly. read more

This donut shop is one of the spots every Irvington student has frequented in their their high school career (yay go Vikings). It's always busy during weekday lunch hours, so beware! Their donuts are decent. I prefer their more plain donuts, I think the sprinkled and frosting ones tend to get too hard. They also have jelly filled donuts, muffins, and bagels. I went here one afternoon just out of curiosity and random morning cravings. I ordered there croissant egg, ham and cheese and wow it was amazing, the cheese was nicely melted onto the delicious ham and the croissant was definitely great. I have been coming to this donut shop since I was a child. This is my favorite shop. I do not know if there was a change of ownership. But I had to write this review today. A coworker of mine had recently been to the shop and had told me that she had a bad experience, that a young lady helped her and was extremely rude to her. I told her that's odd, I go there all the time and I never have had a bad experience. Fast forward to today. I went in and I told the young lady, whom I had never seen before, I wanted 6 donuts. She grabbed the bag and I told her I want a white sprinkle and a white peanut, then I said I want a Chocolate glaze. She picked up a chocolate cake donut with coconut and put it in the bag. I said I am sorry that's not the donut I want, she became upset and said "that's the one you said", I said "no, I said chocolate glazed", she said something to the other lady, clearly she got so mad, then she turned and said to me "that's what you said". I said "well I don't want that donut, I want chocolate glazed, sorry" It's not like I touched it, I mean its a mistake just put it back but no she was so mad and her behavior was uncalled for. I said to her "I come here all the time" and she replied " I don't know you" and then I said "I come here all the time you don't have to be so rude, I've never been treated like this" she threw the donuts in the bag and said "what do you want pointing at the donuts" Now I don't know if this is a new employee, but this behavior is not right. If I am not being rude to you, than you should not be rude. Hopefully the owners read this and talk to this person. Like I said this is my go to donut shop, but I left their today feeling terrible. Even when she charged me she didn't say thank you or anything just completely rude. Staff there have always been so kind but this new person just doesn't seem to be customer service material. read more

I've been coming here since I was little. I love this place. Their donuts are great and cost less than a dollar. I'm a big fan of their old fashioned donuts and chocolate twists. Their cinnamon rolls, bagels, and cake donuts are also great. I had a turkey sandwich on a croissant once or twice, and it was amazing. I've been getting a lot of their blended mochas lately. I really like the way they taste. My only problem is that I can't order one big enough. Lol All in all, this place is great. You have to stop by at certain times, however, because they sell out of donuts, croissant bread, and stuff like that fairly quickly. So, a lot of the time, you end up going when there's nothing you want in stock. Ordering food they have to prepare, especially in the afternoon, usually takes at least 5-10 minutes. Well this was my first time here. Had full stock of donuts when I arrived and a short line out the door. I asked for couple specialty donuts and a dozen mixed. When I got to work to feed the wolves I see 7-8 of the dozen to be all the same sprinkle donut :( really ?!? Summary: Discrimination by social class and mistreatment of customers. Note that I'm not the one being mistreated. The male worker (presumably boss/manager) is the one discriminating, while the female cashier is relatively friendly. Noone was there at the counter when I first arrived. After school today, I went to the donut shop to get some boba to drink while I did my notes, and I noticed this dark-skinned Asian looking man sitting at one of the booths with flies buzzing around him. His face looked shiny from sweat (presumably from a labor intensive job or from scavenging all day) and he had a cup of coffee that he bought from the shop. Noone manned the booth, so I asked him where the people were, using body language to illustrate what I meant. He replied in a plethora of mumbles, and I caught on to the phrase,"裡面", which means "inside" in Chinese. Concluding that he was speaking some sort of Chinese dialect, I moved on with the thought that asking him where the workers were would be pointless (I only speak Mandarin). After buying my boba and finishing a section of notes at one of the booths, yelling rose from the counters, and I saw the disheveled man standing in front of the counter with the glass panels, showcasing dozens among dozens of donuts, absorbing the wrath of the (presumed) manager/boss of the donut shop. Like a dad violently using a child as the scapegoat for all of his problems, this manager roared at the seemingly homeless man: "WHAT IS YOUR NAME? WHAT IS YOUR NAME? WHAT IS YOUR NAME? WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING ME?". The nameless man would not answer him as he had answered me, for he was frightened and could not understand English. Anyone in that situation--you or me--would be astonished, even disappointed, at the lack of respect the manager had for the helpless, aging man. I couldn't see him, just as he couldn't see me, nevertheless, his voice boomed throughout the tiny shop. My mouth dropped at the sight of the appalling injustice. Do you denounce him solely because he looks poor? Because he does not speak the same language you do? If he spends the same amount of money as another student does at this shop, would you not treat him the same? A valid point that some may bring up is that the manager does not want a potential beggar or homeless man to chase away future business. However, this man had done nothing to insinuate that he was a beggar. He merely stood still in front of the counter, without saying a word. But say he were a homeless man. Would he truly chase away other customers? His presence is the only thing that exists in that shop, and if a customer cannot stand his presence, they must not be able to tolerate the run-down, fly-ridden state of the donut shop either. I don't expect most people to empathize the way I do with this man, because I am often described as "overly emotional"; however, I need you to leave knowing that there are people out there who will chastise others, whom they have just met, for their impoverished presence. I need you to realize that wage gaps do exist, but they do not define who we are, what we are worth, and what we deserve in life. And finally, I need you to take note of this pain, and empathize with this man. Please. Understand where he is coming from, and why his life is worth equally as much as yours. read more

As soon as we walked into the door they looked at us and said someone help these fat guys in "Vietnamese". So I won't understand them, but little did they know that my cousin and I are both Vietnamese and understood him. We ordered 2 donuts and 1 coffee and left. Maybe I had unrealistically high expectations for the maple donuts here given the name of the business, but I was severely disappointed. While the plain donut underneath was alright, the maple icing was awful. It had a weird, chemical-y taste and was just sort of glopped on top of the donut with some parts being thin and crusty and some parts overly thick and soaking the donut underneath. The chocolate icing also had an off-flavor and was similarly spread (or not) over the surface of the donut. The apple fritters here just seem careless. Literally every other donut shop in the area makes a nice, big, fried-into-crispy-pull-apart-chunks apple fritter, but here they just add some apples to a ball of donut dough and toss it in the frier. The result is an under-cooked apple donut. Definitely missed the mark. Overall, with so many other great donut shops in the area, I will not be returning. read more

I've been coming here since I was in high school (it's conveniently located down the road from IHS). It was my squad's go to place if we were in the mood for skipping 5th period. Their donuts are light, fluffy, and flavorful. I sometimes end up coming here on the weekends too instead of going to Krispy Kreme. I'm giving 4/5 stars for lack of aesthetic appeal. It's very kitsch looking with laminated food cards hanging on the walls and lack of decor. But other than that, I definitely recommend the donuts! read more

Their hot dogs are very filling and juicy, with an immensely good snap to their casing, and there are several toppings that you can put on, like raw onion, relish, and mustard. The bun is substantial, but not too thick with a good chew. For $3, you can get a hot dog with a choice of chips and a can of soda. Their breakfast sandwiches are nothing to sneeze at either. The BLT bagel contains a lot of crispy, bacony goodness, and I am so addicted to it, I eat it everyday for lunch. For donuts, try their sugar sprinkled donuts, not the powdered-kind. Hi, I took my two young children to get donuts at maple leaf and when I went to pay my $3.00 I was told I would have to spend at least $5.00 to use my card. This is against Visa and Master cards contracts with merchants. It is not against all card companies but it is against Visa and Master card who do not allow merchants to charge a minimum! I informed her of this and she said she knew but did not want to pay the fees to the card company for taking the card. So because she refused to take the card witch she had no rite to do my small children left the store crying because she would not except payment for the donuts. If you are tired of having to buy more than you want just to use your card because they charge a minimum you have the right to report them to VISA and MASTER CARD. This upset me so much because she made my children cry even when she admitted she was in the wrong!
