The sushi here is a bit pricey, but definitely fresh and pretty delicious especially the sashimi! My party order the sushi boat, and it was enough to feed nine people to a decent degree, but there was still room in our stomachs afterwards. Just a funny detail, but the sushi "boat" that we got was actually a sushi bridge. I think that this restaurant is Korean owned since you get the Korean dining experience of all the appetizers and dishes that come before the main meal. It reminds me of the banchan that you get at Korean tofu soup places. We also ordered several uni bowls - as a tip, this is a rare commodity, so if they do not have uni, they will limit the amount you can order. For the market price we paid, the uni bowls were a little lacking especially in how much uni was provided. However, the rice in the bowl was pretty warm and delicious! We came for a birthday, and the server was extremely sweet which is why I bumped my review up to five stars! The service here was fantastic, as she provided some happy birthday glasses, a plastic cake for celebration, and several complimentary drinks on the house! Really appreciated her cheeriness and excitement for our birthday party. Since we were a group of nine, we were seated in one of the sectioned off rooms for privacy. read more

This is the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. The food is super fresh, the service is really fast and friendly. I go here on days when I'm craving sashimi or sushi, and on days when I'm craving sea urchin rice. I also recommend this restaurant on days when I have a gathering with friends. We called in to ask about the $70 per person special, and came in for my birthday. The sashimi was very fresh, and the portion was even a bit overwhelming for us, so we had some to take home! The lobster soup at the end was a nice palette cleanser as well, very savory and comforting. Would recommend for someone looking for a full course meal! read more

We loved everything we ate here. The we had the $70 per person sushi and it comes with lots of banchan, we were almost full just eating what's come beforehand. The sushi is so very fresh and the uni bowl is to die for. Highly recommend. It's on the pricier side but worth the trip if you are into good fish. Nothing bad about this restaurant! You get a warm enthusiastic greeting the second you walk through the door and the service was FAST! Such a great hole in the wall restaurant. I think the greatest compliment I can give is that this is the type of place that I would want to be a regular at. I went there solo three times on my work trip and sat at the sushi bar and I'd encourage anyone to go in, get a sushi roll, and strike up a conversation with the staff! They're super friendly and will chat back and forth as they have time. The three dishes I had were the ManSun Special, several sushi rolls, and the Chirashi. Everything was great and the portions were plenty - especially the ManSun special which came with a handful of Korean sides that I wasn't expecting - So be hungry if you order that! The fish was fresh - especially the Halibut which they have on hand (they also have a lobster tank). Always amazing service here. I stopped by after work to pick up dinner and the quality / quantity were both great- the owner who was packing my order gave me two sea urchins because she said they were on the smaller size today which I appreciate and it shows how fresh their product is. I also got a Philadelphia roll which weirdly only had crab inside, no cream cheese or avocado which makes me think I got the wrong roll but still tasted good. On the side she also included edamame, banchan, and miso soup which were all tasty. I never regret coming here and will definitely be back! read more

The Bento box lunch specials are the best deal at this restaurant. For $13.99, you get a huge portion of a selected entree, rice, 4 sushi pieces, and a very generous portion of freshly fried tempura of vegetables. I had chicken teriyaki Bento Box today. The chicken unfortunately was a bit over-cooked. I will try a different meat next time. Others at the table had salmon Bento box, spicy fish soup, fish-roe and uni rice bowl. All were tasty. The lunch specials included also a dessert, so we were served a scoop of strawberry ice-cream. I did feel very thirsty after leaving the restaurant so I will ask for less MSG the next time. read more

Come here for lunch special!! It's so goodddd and very reasonable prices! I got the Sashimi soba bowl and it comes with side dishes, miso soup on the side and green tea ice cream afterwards. Trust me you won't regret it! The portion size is huge and flavor is delicious. We also got the tempura udon bowl as well and soup and noodles were very good. We came here to celebrate Father's Day with my family. We ordered the X-large combo and a lobster roll. The combo included a large sashimi platter, sea urchin rice bowl (2), oyster shooters (my favorite), lobster soup, side dishes, and ice cream. With tip, the dinner came to around $240, which I think is reasonable considering the amount of food we got. We were only halfway through the dishes and already feeling stuffed. The large combo would have been the perfect amount for us. The owner was also incredibly sweet and friendly, and the service was excellent. A repeat for sure. read more

My family has been coming here for birthday dinners for almost 8 years. Luckily, this place is delicious enough that it was able to survive the pandemic, even as businesses in the area started closing. FOOD I can't speak for anything but the sushi and the soup, as that's what my family always orders. We always get the largest sushi boat and maybe a smaller one depending on how hungry we are and the size. The price is great and we always have leftovers. Since it's Korean-owned, they throw in side dishes at the beginning. My favorite is the sea urchin rice. Admittedly, it has some off days depending on the quality of the sea urchin. The last time I went, it wasn't great. All the other times have been good though so it might've just been an off day. SERVICE Sushi isn't hard to get in this area. What brings us back is the service. The owners are incredibly nice and very generous. At times, we'd come in for birthdays and they would give us free dishes. The last time we were here, everyone was buzzing about the lottery and we went to the liquor store next door to fill out lottery numbers. The hostess saw us and struck a conversation with us about the lottery. She came back with 2 free meat dishes (can't remember which one) and a noodle dish. Then she joked about remembering her generosity when we win the lottery. They've always been very generous with exceptional service. We're checked on often and water is always refilled! PARKING If there is one downside to this place it would be parking. We've always been lucky with street parking but it's not ideal. read more

Pros: the side dishes and the sushi were delicious and the fish was pretty freshly made for us! The tea is really good too. They usually give you a roasted tea. The spicy tiger sushi roll was yummy and had a spicy kick to it and the tempura shrimp roll was worth it. Cons: it's in a super tiny parking lot. You most likely have to park on the street. read more

Don't let the beautiful presentation fool you. Invited a few friends for dinner because I saw their amazing looking uni bowl and regret everytime I see the pictures in the phone since then. Service was okay, we were greeted and was given some banchan (small appetizer) for the table. Ordered the Man Sun Dinner Special and the Uni Bowl. The sushi and sashimi were not thawed correctly and was still freezing cold when was served to the table. It was so horrible that a discounted sushi package from the supermarket would've tasted better. The uni bowl was pretty, but when I looked at it again, I couldn't help but asked "Where is the uni"? It was literally a uni shell packed with HOT rice (yes.. Steaming Hot Rice), 2 tiny pieces of uni, octopus, roe and seaweed. For what was served in the bowl, it was ridiculous that they charged $30 for it. And to make matter worse, steaming hot rice made it extra disgusting. Tempura was okay, but was not good enough for me to give it a 2 star rating. I understand this is a cheap sushi fix option, but they really need to step up on the quality being served. So disgusted with my meal that I would NEVER return to this restaurant. Sorry, but this is definitely going on my NO-GO list. read more

The salmon collar was tender and a large piece. The baked lobster roll was too sweet with too much mayo. The sashimi and California rolls left a lot to be desired. Maybe it's because these are just the items that came included in a combo, and maybe it's because I didn't order the right things...but I wasn't too impressed given all the reviews about how this is the best Japanese food that needs to be discovered. I may be too spoiled by the higher quality sushi in South OC but to me the quality is more of a 3.5...but I rounded up.

We had a very bad experience with this stupid, rude, and without manner Sushi Restaurant. We would like to share our bad experience with everyone. First of all, on the menu, it doesn't indicate how many pieces what are you going pay for Small Size, Medium Size, Large Size, or Extra Size on Sashimi, Sushi Boat, and Sushi Plate. Second, the restaurant won't provide a correct number of pieces to you on what you ordered. Different waiters tell you different pieces. They are not really honest. Also, their side orders and main entrees are definitely not fresh. Terrible food...awful Service, it is extremely bad and rude. We received a sentence from owner's son (he is a waiter) that" WE DON'T NEED YOUR BUSINESS AND YOU DON'T NEED TO COME BACK". Plus, the Owner is a chef and tries to cheating on the food with short count of pieces more than 4 pieces on your orders. Restaurant environment, it is super dirty and the floor is filled with trash. Final result, we left the place without eating and paying. We couldn't stay there more than a minute. We have a very bad experience with this terrible Sushi Restaurant. Mansun Sushi is an absolute gem! This small, family-owned restaurant has been serving incredible Japanese cuisine for over 20 years, and it's easy to see why they've stood the test of time.
