Cold appetizers.

If you're craving Lebanese cuisine, then this is the spot. It was our first time and it won't be our last. We started with the cold appetizer sampler. Very fresh And flavorful. We ordered the beef shish-kabob and chicken shawarma. Wow. The presentation and food quality far above what we expected. So flavorful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. And our service was very attentive and suggested great sides. I highly recommend.

I'm sad to give this place two stars because I was really excited about the menu. My boyfriend and I ordered to-go from here. We got the jebneh, the lentil soup, and the falafel platter with french fries and salad. We started with the jebneh which is basically white pizza. It was pretty mid. I thought the lentil soup would be puréed but it wasn't and it had a ton of onions which I don't particularly care for. This is however a personal preference and not part of why I am giving two stats. The falafel was cooked well but not seasoned well and lacked flavor. The dipping sauce was watery, and could have also offered more flavor. My boyfriend and I went to finish the jebneh and I found a hair in it. Not mine and not my boyfriend's. I called Manouche to let them know and they offered to remake it but honestly the food overall really upset my stomach. My boyfriend also had a stomach ache after the food. The manager who I spoke to about the food was pretty unsympathetic and said she'd double check their processes and that hair was highly unusual. I just didn't love the customer service. Overall, the food even without the hair was mediocre. My boyfriend said the best thing was the root beer he got from there. I don't think we will be going back any time soon.

I did a pickup order, but the interior looked really nice for dine in as well. It was pretty easy to place an order, but they do charge to use credit cards (which I did not see disclosed but meh). I did get a gyro platter - meat was nice. and it did come with 2 side options. The baba ghanouj was a really nice, big serving with a rich, roasted eggplant flavor. The roasted potatoes were fine, but nothing remarkable. Overall the meal was satisfying and was a lot of food. I did give in and have to try the heaven cake, as I had not heard of it before. The pistachio crust and phyllo edge reminded me a lot of baklava, but the whipped cream filling was very sweet and denser than I expected. It was a unique treat. Overall, the food was nice, and Manouche offers some interesting dishes for the area.

Unbelievable food and service!! Highly recommend. Flavorful, great interior and very friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

We are always on the lookout for new dining experiences in the Bloomfield/Montclair area and will definitely be returning to Manouche. Everything was delicious and the freshness of the food is what makes Manouche a standout among local Mediterranean restaurants. We plan to order one of their family style meals for takeout the next time we have guests visit.

Solid experience! My friend referred me to Manouche and I'm so glad she did. I made sure to make a reservation because she told me it gets busy. Parking is only street but we found a spot quickly. Upon entering we were greeted welcomingly and directed to a table. The dining space was pretty small but cozy. It looked like a lot of local families visit. The waitress was very kind and attentive. We had sodas (no cocktails here!) and the Ouche Dipper. We picked the Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Zesty Feta with chips. The dips were sooo good. We particularly loved the chips because we haven't seen that at any Mediterranean restaurants we've been to. For the entree we ordered the Ouche Mixed Grill Platter with Pilaf Rice and Ouche Salad. 10/10!! The meats had so much flavor. Rice and salad were great and a good balance. My stomach is sensitive but it didn't hurt. The portion size was great for 2. I only didn't like the onions because I'm particular but my gf did. I'd definitely come back!

We had our family dinner and curious for an authentic Lebanese spot in the Montclair/Bloomfield/Clifton area, Alas! This place was very friendly, service was excellent (checking on tables frequently), It is a family friendly atmosphere and on top of that the food was excellent! This is definitely a place we can bring family and friends over, price is very affordable. A gem in the Bloomfield area.

Growing up in Saudi Arabia, I ate a lot of Middle Eastern food, mostly Lebanese. Ever since moving to the US 15 years ago, I've been searching for a Lebanese restaurant that reminds me of the ones I used to go to back home. Finally, I've found it at Manouche. We went for lunch on a Sunday and got seated right away. We started with crispy falafels and tahini sauce. They were so good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also had a sfeeha (not pictured), which is a minced beef, parsley, and onion pie. It came in four slices and was delicious. Next, we ordered the ouche dipper and chose labneh, zesty feta, and hummus. The zesty feta had just the right amount of spice, and if it got too spicy, the refreshing labneh balanced it out perfectly. The pitted olives were a nice touch too. For our main course, we all got the chicken shawarma, and it was amazing. The shawarma was long and slender, packed with marinated chicken, fries, Lebanese pickles, and just the right amount of toum. It really brought me back to my childhood. Manouche is now my go-to whenever I'm craving a taste of home. P.S. I went back three days later for takeout. Even though I live about 15 minutes away, the food traveled well. I got the falafels again, along with French fries, chicken shawarma, and the gyro platter. I seriously love Manouche for making such amazing food!

Manouche was meh and although the service was really nice and attentive, the food left much to be desired. We stopped here after seeing it's raving reviews here on Yelp. I swear ya be lyinggggg lol. After a day of oo-ing and ah-ing at the beautiful cherry blossoms in Branch Brook Park we were HUNGRY. We ate in and tried a variety of things: lamb and chicken platter (beef was substituted for chicken), fool (fava beans), and regular gyro with a side of fries. The fries were plentiful. The gyro was pretty basic. The street carts in NYC have more flair and flavor tbh. The veggies were lacking and the gyro meat was exactly as any other gyro spot. The platter was basically a gyro but with sides-- we tried the hummus (again, super basic and bland) and the salad. The beans were plentiful (seriously, it was a HUGE portion) and we did not eat most of it. They tasted a bit odd, like burnt garlic, and felt like they needed to be cooked more. We did not enjoy these beans at all. Add a can of coke for $2.50. I don't drink soda so I was shocked-- when did a can become $2.50?! Is this normal? (serious question) I'm not sure so I won't hold it against them. I don't think I will return. Overall it was flavorless and bland. Not my style.

Which was a bit of a shock at first but honestly as parents of a 2 year old, we welcomed the silent room (besides the Lebanese music). Ordered the dinner for 2, the cucumber yogurt dip, and a mint tea. We were so happy with this place. The ladies working were so sweet and everything came out quickly and fresh off the grill! Let me also point out that the grill master was a woman. Awesome. Can't wait to go back again for a casual night and BYOB next time. Just curious why the place was empty! And we didn't see one person come in to pickup takeout. What's the deal?

Also tried the Burak and they were good, not overwhelming and they had a nice crunch. My mom ordered the sujuk and it was great. The sausage almost tasted like chorizo. I asked for the chicken shawarma gyro but I got a platter instead. There was some miscommunication but I'm kind of glad there was! It was delicious. The rice pilaf is very good. The hummus is also smooth and tasty. It was shockingly empty for lunch but I suppose they do a lot of takeout and are busier on weekends. The ladies who were serving were so sweet and accommodating. Love this spot!

I went last night after a concert at the MetLife stadium near by. Once we were seated they brought out plates for the table and every one of the four plates given to us had charcoal dust on them, which isn't alarming at an establishment that serves hookah. We asked the waitress LAMIA if she can change the plates, Immediately she caught an attitude. She was adamant they weren't dirty but went to get us new plates as requested. The great thing about outside seating at this establishment is that the windows are wide open so you can see inside. We watched as LAMIA walked over to her coworkers to complain, stomp her foot and have an attitude driven tantrum while she filled them in on our request for new plates. For the rest of dinner we were greeted with the rudest attitude and treatment of distain from this server. She didn't want to speak with us. She didn't want to serve us. Thank you for runing our night LAMIA. She even brought the check over while we were mid eating our dinner, put it on the table and walked away without a word. Rushing us out without even acknowledgement. Paying $200 for a meal with that sort of treatment makes for an interesting end to our evening. We were raised with manners so we continued to be polite and thank her each time she dropped off an item. Makes me question if our food was tampered with because we even found a piece of hair in our meal. We all have long jet black hair down our backs so this hair definitely was not ours. But didn't feel comfortable to speak up due to the treatment we were already receiving. The service industry is for those who enjoy curating a space of fun and enjoyment for consumers. I would think twice about going to this establishment if you're looking for a good time.

Disappointing and Overpriced Group Dining Experience…read more A friend organized a dinner for six at Mishmish, expecting a quality dining experience. Instead, we were told upon arrival that parties of six could not order from the regular menu and would receive a special chef's tasting menu. We were also informed that gratuity was automatically included. The service got off to a poor start. When I requested still water, the server responded, "So, tap for you," later explaining that the tap water was filtered. Two guests received their drinks promptly, while the rest of us waited at least 15 minutes--before the first dish even arrived. The food was served family-style, but the portions and presentation made little sense for a table of six. Most dishes came on only two plates, with one small portion intended for three people to share. We received items such as a small bun with sauce, a modest salad, a piece of smoked trout, and buttered boiled potatoes--the best dish of the meal, although hardly an impressive accomplishment. Most absurdly, two chicken legs were served for three people to share. How exactly were three guests expected to divide two chicken legs? A tasting menu for six should be properly portioned, not presented as a series of awkward, undersized servings. There was also confusion about the menu. When one guest pointed out that two listed items on our special menu had not been served, the server consulted the chef and returned to say that we had received everything we were supposed to receive. If items had been removed from our menu, we should have been told at the beginning of the meal--or the menu should have been corrected. Following this we were provided A dessert consisting of an extremely bitter artichoke-based liqueur and one small scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream for every three guests to share described as "a gesture" based on the menu confusion. The presentation for a table of six was virtually nonexistent. Dishes were simply placed on the table, and we sometimes had to ask what we had been served. The service was mediocre at best, the portions were poorly planned, and the overall experience felt disorganized. At $130 per person--$780 total, including the automatic gratuity--the meal was nowhere near the quality or value expected at that price. Needless to say, I will not return.

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.
