The pharmacist, Colin, needs anger management classes. Yesterday, after receiving a text two days…read moreearlier from my doctor saying my anxiety meds that I was completely out of were ready, I went to pick up my prescription and they said it wasn't there. From his perch, Colin asked which meds and I told him. He said I'm not due for a refill for 2 more weeks. He obviously didn't get the update from my doctor that two weeks earlier I was instructed to double my dosage and now I was out. My doctor also made it clear that it was medically dangerous for me to stop taking those meds cold turkey. I tried to appeal to Colin's humanity and asked if it was possible to borrow a couple doses until we got it figured out, he suddenly became enraged, yelled at me over my weak pleas for understanding, got down from his perch and stormed towards me in a threatening manner, raising his voice all the way, then slammed a copy of my old prescription (instead of the updated one) down on the counter and began to turn to go back to his high horse. He was behaving like a petulant child. I have been patronizing his shop for 12 years, since we moved to Elgin, and it was always pleasant there. I kind of looked forward to visiting his pharmacy. My wife and I prefer to shop locally. But yesterday, Colin seemed crazed suddenly for no good reason. After several calls to my doctor's office, the prescription finally got updated at Elgin Medicine Shop. I called from my job in Austin to see if Colin had received the new 'script and he said he had. Then I merely remarked "you were a tad aggressive today" hoping we could find a way to smooth things over, but he doubled down, raising his voice again, saying I wouldn't listen to him earlier. It is true, I wasn't listening to him say over and over that the prescription he had wasn't the dosage that I was told. But isn't it part of a health care professional's job to listen to the patient/customer? I told him that after I picked up these meds I was going to find a different pharmacy from now on. He exploded "We can end this relationship right now! What pharmacy do you want me to send this to?" I just hung up, shaking. Boy, I guess those meds do work because I felt like I had been set way back in my wellness journey. Colin then called my wife, at her job, asking her which pharmacy did we want him to send the prescription because I had hung up on him, adding that I was going to claim that he yelled at me but he didn't. She said that he did say he was "stern with me". Since when is it remotely acceptable for a pharmacist to get "stern with" a customer trying to get their anxiety meds??? Seriously, Colin should be investigated, for the safety of our community. Steroids, maybe?

Always polite as always as my medicine ready on time. And their service is amazing. They do make…read moreyou feel very comfortable there

I'm writing this because I noted some unhappy people in other reviews. I can't speak for someone…read moreelse's experiences but I've been very happy with the service here over the past 5 years (both at this newer store and at the old location across the street.) I've even noted people remembering my wife's name when I've come in to pick up he prescriptions which is something that I think is rare nowadays. People nearly always greet me when I enter and leave. The store is in a pretty convenient location as well. So weigh that against the complaints.

When I get to the self checkout the machine took four of my coupons but only granted me one and the cashier couldnt figure out which ones was mine but 4 items for $75. NO THANK YOU I went to walmart and spent all my money there. I am so tired of the whole coupon put in your phone number scan coupon I would have spent a total of $75. at your cvs, well guess what I went to walmart and for the same items spent under $40. quit thinking that adding a bunch of coupons of stuff I will never buy but puttin bold letters of pain or makeup so that I will think you are saving me big money. So tired of it it has been going on for years, guess what at walmart I did not have to put no phone number in, go through dumb, misleading coupons I will never use and saved $35.. Just letting you know that after that ridiculousness tonight at your elgin store I will only be using the pharmacy from here on out its just a waste of my time!

UPDATE: A glasses exchange will happen after all. See the store's response to my initial post…read morebelow. I am awarding more stars-GS ORIGINAL POST: This customer erred by not keeping (maybe not even requesting) his receipt for half-price sunglasses ($25 cost) sold next to the pharmacy counter. A temple on the new glasses started going askew about 2 weeks later so I ventured back to Martin's, at my wife's suggestion, to seek a swap-out--the askewed glasses for an identical replacement pair. No go without the receipt, cashier said. When I pointed out that I obviously also had the glasses pouch from the purchase--perhaps a sign I'd bought the glasses there--the cashier didn't engage; he went silent, staring into his big screen. So, keep every receipt, you 21st-century pals, or else you'll walk away thinking CVS ain't so bad after all. Photo of skewed glasses below.

They didn't consider me a customer because I last filled a prescription three months ago. I became the bottom priority. I had called earlier that day around 2 pm and was told that they had enough to fill the prescription. Two hours later I was called to say their supply ran out. That was hard to believe. The Pharm tech told me she understood and was on the same med and she couldn't get hers refilled. Again, hard to believe. I was a regular customer in the past and do my vaccines there. I explained that I'm going out of town and need to take care of my nephew who is in hospice. I won't go there again. It's like having to join a country club to get a prescription filled.
