What do you know about a Manny Burger?
    Dee W.

This is a Norfolk Staple. I was home recently and decided to get a Manny's Special: Manny Burger, Fries and Large Lemonade. Just like I remembered. It never disappoints. If you want a good burger meal at a good price, stop by and try them out.

My boyfriend and I went here because I heard a lot of great things about it at work. Let's start out by saying I arrived 20 mins before closing. The fries was fresh out the grease! I ordered the cheeseburger and it was very juicy and tasty.they included every condiment you could want on the side from salt and pepper to ketchup. My boyfriend had the double burger with bacon which was also great. For the price and fresh quality I'll never go to Burger King or McDonald's again!!! Lol loved it!

When you've been in business for 70+ years in the same location your doing something right! This walk-up is a Norfolk landmark and I just had to try it today as they opened. The location is off busy Lafayette, but in a more residential area. Signage is good. Parking is in their lot on sides and rear. I found the lot to be spotless of debris. The cinder block building has a combination of fresh and old paint, but it's in good condition for the age. There is a single picnic table on the side under a tree. The large menu board displays all the items offered, including a small chalk board special. You order from the right and pick up on the left. For a first time visit I ordered the Manny's Burger Special / burger, ham, LTO (added mayo, deleted mustard) cheese. Side of crinkle fries. Paired with a house made lemonade. Don't expect small talk at the window, they are too busy! Everything comes bagged up and to go. I took my meal to the table and found it in need of a good wiping down. The fries come unseasoned with salt/pepper in the bag. A cup of ketchup and napkins were included. The first bite of the burger was heavenly. The beef, ham and accompanying condiments work together like an orchestra. The fries were hot, huge and crispy. Once seasoned scrumptious! The lemonade was fantastic although I ran out abruptly due to a high quantity of ice. But not to worry they will refill for free. They also offer chicken daily & a weekly fish special. This burger dive has got my full attention...WOW! The memory of Mr. Manny lives on in 2017. I would absolutely recommend.

I chose the Becca Burger, without mushrooms and their Steak Diablo Fries. They make everything fresh, to order with fresh ingredients. The burger was clearly freshly hand-packed, the jalapeños were freshly sliced, not pickled. Since they make it all fresh, you might wait a few minutes longer than the typical burger joint, but that's fine considering the amazing eats you're about to enjoy. My burger came out looking beautiful and it was definitely sitting tall! The flavor was excellent! Meat was great too!! I definitely liked having their chipotle mayo on it!! Those steak Diablo fries were incredibly tasty, with a nice kick, but sooo much more flavor than heat! The fries themselves were great, perfectly crispy and tasty, but adding all those toppings truly made it special! Service was nice... I had a few questions and she was helpful with the answers. Lastly, they have birch beer here, which I loved! Highly recommend stopping in for a great burger and fries experience!!

Burger options look phenomenal but I wouldn't know because I can't help but damn near always get the Junk Drawer (omg). Quality burger cooked to choice, my only gripe is within the last year the chefs had to have been changed up because the burger don't taste as good as they used to (ie: tenderness, juices, quality of beef, idk but something has changed). Appetizers are solid, especially the mozzarella sticks and they give you cool spice options for the fries. I haven't had a happy hour here yet so I can't speak to the booze. I also heard they host events often.

Everyone plays on their phones through a QR code, so the room stays pretty calm. No shouting answers or chaos, just a lot of people quietly locked into trivia. I was seated immediately and ordered The Big Cheese burger. At first glance, it looked promising. The beef seemed like quality meat and not a frozen hockey puck. The vegetables were also very fresh. No sad, limp lettuce or those weird mushy tomato slices some places try to pass off as fresh. But here's where things went sideways: the patty had almost no flavor. I'm honestly not convinced it met salt at any point during its journey to the plate. It wasn't bad, just noticeably under-seasoned. For a place that positions itself as a serious burger spot, seasoning the meat feels like Burger 101. The fries were good. They offer different seasoning options, but I kept it simple with salt and pepper. I also ordered the Cheerwine sangria, which sounded like it would be something special. In reality, it mostly tasted like regular sangria that someone carbonated. Not bad, just not particularly interesting. Service was friendly and quick, which I appreciated. Overall, the meal was fine. But when your whole mission is basically "we're the burger experts," it's a little surprising when the burger tastes like the seasoning got left in the kitchen.

It was tasty but lacked seasoning. When I sat down, I noticed a lot of salt on the table....i understood why haha as I found myself sprinkling salt throughout out. They were crunchy and tender on the inside. Getting to this location was super easy and they own their own parking lot which is free for patrons. If you're not able to find parking, they have plenty of paid street parking. I also want to add that they do offer discounts but to service members who are in uniform. Service members rarely ever wear their uniforms just to dine out unless they are on official orders or are working full time. I find that a bit unfortunate because the value veterans and military service members bring should be honored while they are and are not in uniform so I hope that the management changes that policy someday. They offer no other forms of discounts as I asked about teachers and emergency personnel too just to give people something additional when seeking this place out. It's still a good lunch spot tho.
