The perfectly cooked Brown Rice accompanied by the Tomato Chutney of some kind. The Sauce is also out of this world. Had this and then head up to the Rooftop Garden with a Twin Star Boba in my hand. Had an amazing day at POST HOUSTON.

I can't believe I waited so long to try the GOLDEN BOWL. This is one of the best bites to enter my mouth in a long time. ChopnBlok is nestled away inside of POST Houston. Their menu is quaint, and in fact, the famous Golden Bowl was not visible on the menu. Fortunately, the had a few signature dishes on display - the Golden Bowl was one of them. The Golden Bowl is one of the most complex and well balanced dishes I've ever had. Sweet, salty, smoky, spicy, and soulful, this dish is an explosion for flavors that will have your tongue tingling. The succulent grilled chicken, fluffy jollof jambalaya, stewed plantain and crunchy black eyed peas work together to create an unbelievable mix of textures that keep you excited for the next bite... and the next... and then suddenly it's gone. My only regret was sharing the bowl with my husband. I could probably eat two orders in one sitting. If you haven't had a Golden Bowl, please do your tastebuds a favor and get yourself over to ChopnBlok.

It had so much flavor in it mmmm! My husband loved his goat meat he didn't leave behind a single thing, cleaned the whole plate...at his fufu and then some of mine. Service/ambiance: They are the sweetest people you'll ever meet. It was obvious we didn't know anything about the menu and several people approached us to help us get something they think we would like. Didn't even feel like we were eating out but instead eating at a friend's or family's house. We went a bit late so I think people were getting off work and it was clear that this place feels like home for everyone because they were coming just to hang out and eat. Such a lovely place and the best fufu I tried (after eating it I tried it at another few spots just for the comparison - no one could compare).

From the minute I walked in, I knew that the odds would most likely be in my favor. First of all there are two huge portraits of the female proprietess and her husband flanking the cash register, in full Asante regalia. Which totally made me feel like I was in someone's living room looking at their mantle, versus at a restaurant. But it added a touch of culture and a huge sense of pride. There was a older man waiting for food, staring at the big screen tv, DANCING to the music. This is a great sign! Do you know how good this food is about to be, because I do, if it makes Papa DANCE!!! Oh yeah, I was getting excited. There was a fridge stocked FULL TO THE BRIM and spilling over onto the floor of every soda, both American and African, plus several types of beer. To me this read as "yup, you gone be thirsty after this FIYAHHHHHH"! And they weren't wrong! My food came out piping hot, relatively quickly, and paired with warm water for hand washing! Not every African restaurant is this traditional, so I again, knew it was about to go down!!!!! I would get into a lengthy description of the groundnut soup but that would waste more of your time reading, instead of driving, STRAIGHT TO Afrikiko!!! I will say that the side of spinach that I requested was so smooth and tomatoey and robust with flavor, that I was thoroughly surprised. I was expecting just a side of sautéed spinach, maybe a bit of onion or garlic, but that damn spinach was soooooo good I almost licked the bowl. If I could give 10 stars I would! This place will make me drive from Dallas yall! And you should too! Worth every single penny I spent! Thanks Afrikiko!
