Amazing donut spot! Seriously under rated for the quality! Tried the ube cake and chocolate chocolate and loved both. Weren't crazy sweet (which is my #1 issue with donuts). Didn't feel too heavy or greasy. Tasted absolutely perfect and loved every bite. Service is friendly and quick. Ambiance is simple with the donuts in plain view at the display counter. I was working in the area and saw this place conveniently nearby. I stopped by to see what would speak to me and that I'd like to eat that morning. The ham and cheese croissant w jalapeño really hit the spot. I know donuts and croissants are kinda generic so you don't really expect things to be different from other places. I've actually had some below average ham and cheese croissants so this place was a pleasant surprise with the above average performance lol.. You'll find plenty of parking here being that they share a parking lot with a bunch of businesses including Safeway. I'd say the main reason why I felt inclined to write this review aside from the quality and top customer service. Came here one morning with my bf to grab some brunch before starting our day. I opted for a ham and cheese croissant and bottled tea while he had a break bagel and iced coffee. I enjoyed my croissant - decent sized with good amount of filling and well made. I wish it had a bit more mayo, tho, as it was on the dry side. I had half and kept the other to finish later. My bf enjoyed his bagel, but also wanted more mayo. The iced coffee was good. Staff was very nice and efficient when getting out order ready. The shop was small and cozy - enough space for people to eat their donuts/sandwiches, but doesn't encourage hanging out for hours. It was clean and well kept. read more

I got a coffee here and it literally tasted like water. When I asked if they could remake it or if I could get a refund the lady said no refunds and gave me a stare and said if I remake it it's gonna taste the same. Then I asked if I could just trade it for another type of coffee or even just a donut and she said no. That she couldn't do anything for me. Terrible attitude from all employees. Dang I love donuts! As a self certified donut connoisseur I can say with all conviction these donuts are delicious! I got 2, a chocolate old fashioned and a pink glazed cruller. The old fashioned was perfect, with the added taste of nutmeg which I definitely liked. The cruller was a true light and airy cruller which is hard to find anymore and the pink glaze had a lovely strawberry flavor to it. I took my donuts home to enjoy with a glass of creamy whole milk. It cost me $15 for 6 donuts for me and the fam bam but this is to be expected in today's inflated economy. Nice customer service, but the donuts were terrible. Maybe I have been spoiled by WORLD FAIR IN HAYWARD. But these donuts were terrible. I had the Apple fritter, glazed buttermilk, bearclaw with apple in it and a chocolate old fashion. I would say that it's missing taste. I could taste the sugar, but not the sweetness. If you have ever had a good donut, this place will disappoint. Just being honest. Won't go back. My boyfriend said he liked the donut with sprinkles. And that the owner is really nice. I try and be honest about the food. Giving him a 3 star because he has been there a long time and my boyfriend likes some donuts there. I've been coming to this shop for over 20yrs, mostly under previous ownership when I lived around the corner in WG. Now I live in the RoseGarden neighborhood but stopped this morning to pick up donuts on my way to the office. It's my third time back under new ownership and first time picking up donuts for the office, so let's just say I was shocked at the price tag. Just under $30 for a dozen random everyday donuts, a small coffee and a cinnamon twist. Donuts are fine, but man, this is unbelievable pricing. Are all donut shops this high? I wouldn't be surprised to pay this for Stan's hot and fresh donuts, but for this? Also, can we stop using these flat boxes for donuts? They are horrible for carrying. Finally, is it too much to ask for real creamer or half and half? Just a giant jug of powdered creamer. No thanks. read more

horrible customer service here, came in to buy s donut with my dogs in a stroller and they REFUSED service. My dogs were both locked into a pet stroller and right when i came in happy to come get a donut w my little ones and right when i come in they tell me to get out... ridiculous. My dogs were locked into the stroller as well so i dont see no harm and no hair with the stroller being shut. Moral of the story is they hav sticks up their ass coildnt let me pay and leave. Well sad to say, whoever the old lady is that runs the place when husband is not around is rude for one. She tried charging my fiance more then she should have for a basic glaze donut, a prize for a twist glaze. Then after she had the nerve to tell him good luck finding somewhere that will sell him a donut at a better price. Ofcourse this is not our regular donut shop, my fiance tells her where the better donuts and prices are she kept yapping as he left. Customer service is horrible with her there alone. I dropped in at around 11 am on a Sunday looking for something to bring to my parents' house. I ordered an assortment for them and second box to bring home. My sis and I are here in San Jose for a trip and decided to come in for a doughnut and To our surprise they had Vietnamese iced coffee as well. This is probably the best maple bar I have ever eaten and the Vietnamese iced coffee is delicious. This is my favorite donut spot. The donuts are better than other places, super soft and the jelly/custard/cream are all stuffed to capacity. My fav is the glazed raspberry filled, so good and a great ratio of jelly to donut. Not only are the donuts great, but the owners are very friendly and will remember you if you go semi regularly. I've been to 8-9 different donut spots in San Jose, and this is my go-to every time. They are so soft and chewy, and the toppings are high quality. I literally just at 4 glazed raspberry filled donuts and I feel great. read more

The people that own/operate this location (Bird Ave) are just the nicest. Such wonderful customer service. And their donuts, well they speak for themselves. After one bite, you will be in donut heaven! So if you are looking for a sweet morning treat (or early afternoon), look no further. I can't personally speak for the coffee because I don't drink it, but I have seen plenty of others that do and they appear to be quite happy. read more

My first time here after reading reviews. I stopped by this morning to pick up donut holes and some glazed donuts for my kiddo's classroom celebration. The lady that helped me behind the counter was very sweet, she immediately greeted me when I walked in and also gave me some extra donut holes in my bag. Donuts were fresh and delicious! I love Manley Donuts!! I was first introduced to their donuts because this is my work's go-to donut shop when they're ordering it for the office. after trying it just once, I had to find out where they were getting these amazing donuts. They're always so fresh and there's always such a variety. When I finally got the chance to visit the shop myself, the lady working there is super sweet and let me take my time drooling over all the donuts. Very eclectic in the best way! I'm very particular with music and have an inside joke with my wife about hijacking the Bluetooth at certain places to play some "actual music" but damn. Find myself removing my headphones to listen to what they have playing. Sometimes I feel like I'm inside an NPR segment. Lol The coffee and tea have been consistently tasty. Great espresso, tasty tea options, and no one rushes you out. just gentle background life happening around you. Another shoutout to the staff. Literally EVERYONE has been amazing and they're always in such great moods. In return, all the customers are super friendly too. Love it :)

The baristas seem poorly trained, and they don't have a solid process anymore. They've expanded their space, but that just makes the wait and confusion worse. I recently was in their new space and ordered two simple cold brews--no modifications. Where they used to pour it straight from the tap, now they treat it like a latte--and everything takes forever. If you want to linger in their aesthetic (albeit chilly) space, maybe that's fine. But if you just want takeaway coffee, be prepared to invest 20-30 minutes. It's no longer the quick, quality stop it once was.

The cake still uses dairy, but my friend was more cautious of the original cream cheese icing. This cake tasted amazing with this substitute, and I can't wait to try the original cream cheese icing one day! I am also interested in exploring any of their cheesecakes, as I am a cheesecake enjoyer. The red velvet cake's texture was sort of bouncy, which I enjoyed. I went back for another slice. The place has become a kitchen used by many other bakeries so it seems they are focused on that aspect of the business. The croissants are not the same as they were with the previous owners. Not only that, the coffee is terrible now. I went there one morning shortly after opening and the coffee was lukewarm and tasted terrible, I think they must have reheated the coffee leftover from the day before. It is nice to have a local bakery nearby if you want to get a dessert but unfortunately if I want really good croissants or pastries for breakfast, I will drive to Preligen or Manresa.

The raspberry matcha special had a pleasant raspberry punch but it was too tart overall for my preference. It can get quite noisy, including in their new indoor/outdoor seating area.
