I needed a last minute cut and this place accommodated…read more I called at noon and was offered a 2:00 or 2:30 PM slot same day. I flexed it to 3:30 and I was out the door by 4:00. The barber mentioned the appointments for standard cuts are in 30 minute increments, so in that regard, I felt her somewhat rushed, but overall, she did a good job. I live in San Diego, where the average haircut is outrageously expensive so I intentionally held off until I arrived in Austin for work travel thinking it would be cheaper. I ended up spending $50, before tip, which is even more expensive than my go-to back home. They offer complimentary non-alcoholic drinks in the back, which is also the waiting area. They do not accept cash, but who is still carrying cash in 2026 anyway?

The result is I have a section of hair that is an inch long while the rest of my cut is 3 inches. This is a lopsided hair cut and the worst I have ever had. The stylist said ...sorry I cut it so short. I have no idea why. Certainly not worth $70.

In Austin, there are a lot of barbershops to choose from all parts of town. Some people just need…read morea quick haircut and others need a careful well detailed cut. I picked Barbon's after my famous Wooten Barber had to close shop. You set appointments through their website. They specialize in all type of high end cuts, fades & beard trims. They have a talented group of barbers for the staff. I have gotten a quality haircut & beard trim each time I go. They offer alcohol & other complimentary drinks as you wait. A typical haircut starts around $40.00, and then if you go with other services like a beard trim it can be higher. This place is for people wanting the high end barber shop experience. The staff is friendly, nice facility, and they give professional style haircuts. The barbers here take their time in doing a haircut. If you certainly want an above average haircut experience, pay a little more and visit here. They are doing solid work.

This barber spot is surrounded by a local juice bar (with optional vinyl browsin'), vintage store, and even a gym at the end of the area. It also is steps away from more than a handful of local food trucks. You can literally hit several places at once before or after your fresh fade. Parking is super easy but might be tight especially if the gym has a class going on but you shouldn't ever have a problem finding a spot. I had an absolutely terrible experience with this barber. From the moment I sat down, it felt like…read morehe was more focused on rushing me out of the chair than actually giving me a decent haircut. Before starting, I showed him photos of exactly what I wanted: a clean high bald fade. I even told him it was totally fine if he didn't want to take it all the way down to the skin if he didn't have the right tools. Instead of listening, he rushed through the entire cut and then had the nerve to tell me, "This is what you get in 30 minutes." At one point he literally showed me a timer he had set for 30 minutes like that somehow justified the quality of the haircut. Then he said if I wanted a better blend I should have booked a beard trim too, which honestly felt like a cheap upsell after already paying a ridiculously high price for the haircut itself. The result? An absolutely terrible fade with harsh lines and almost no blending. It looks nothing like the photos I showed him. For the price he charges, I expected professionalism and basic attention to detail, not to be rushed through like I was on an assembly line. To make matters worse, when he used a straight razor on the back of my neck, he actually cut me multiple times. I left with small nicks and irritation back there, which is completely unacceptable. A straight razor should be used with care, not rushed like everything else during the appointment. I walked out feeling like I had been robbed and honestly embarrassed by how bad the haircut looks. If you value your money and don't want to leave looking like an idiot with a butchered fade--and possibly with cuts on your neck--I would strongly recommend going somewhere else.
