Lynese is amazing! I've been searching for a good old school barber and found a great one after half a dozen bad haircuts from other barber shops. Great conversation, easy booking, i was in and out (I've waited hours at other barber shops even with an appointment!), excellent communication, and one helluva haircut! I will be back Thanks!! Not open during listed hours, poor practice to not be open when you advertise that you are.

I've been going to Lynese since I moved to Austin in 2013. She's the best in town and one of my favorite people. Her attention to detail is amazing, she remembers exactly how you like your haircut, the length, any products you use, and even small details you've shared about yourself. It's always a great time getting my haircut with her. She's a great conversationalist with a sharp sense of humor and excellent taste in music :) read more

Recently moved to Austin and have been looking for my go-to barber. Found it here. Nicholas takes his time and makes sure your happy. This is way better quality than the chains and as pleasant an experience as the upscale shops, with better value. read more

I almost don't want to review Marchica's because I don't want to give up this perfect little gem I have found! After several months of trying to find the best barber for my short hair, I believe I have found one in Lynese. Not only was she a BLAST to speak with, she went out of her way to recommend, explain, and carefully tailor my cut to my preferred style and head shape. Lynese even named bones and described how my head structure worked and could work better with my hair. IT GETS BETTER THOUGH. Every detail was thought out and well executed: my cut was carefully done, the room was clearly very well sanitized, the edging was perfectly done with warm shaving cream and a straight razor, and she even shampooed my hair before styling it. Lynese goes well above and beyond what you would expect at any high end barber shop or salon for a FRACTION of the cost. I plan on making Marchica's a part of my regular routine now. If you're looking for a barber, don't hesitate to book NOW! read more

Lynese was my barber for ages before I left the state. When I moved back, I knew I had to find her again! No one shaves a head or styles a mohawk like this lady. Plus, she's an absolute blast. Hanging out with Lynese is wonderful and the fact I get a sweet haircut in the process is the best bonus! read more

I've literally followed Lynese across town for my haircuts and now here I am at her latest venture. The most important thing I look for in a haircut is the "come on world" confidence when I walk out. Lynese achieves this with flair along with a delicious cup of coffee or tea. If you're the kind of person who likes stimulating conversation, a professional touch and a few good laughs then try Marchica's! read more

I got an undercut last year, which has been amazing for me with doing muay thai & brazilian jiu jitsu. Sadly, I spent months bouncing between places, having it trimmed by people who seemed to have no vision, ideas, or guidance on how to make it look good. I came across this place on yelp and am so, so happy I did! Nick has been a godsend. He always has ideas on what we could do next to try things out and see what works best for my hair, which has only turned out better and better. Scheduling is easy and convenient, and the place has a warm, friendly vibe. Give them a try! read more

Lynese was friendly and professional. Prices are fair and she does not try to sell you on additional services and products. Service was quick but thorough (I like quick) I would highly recommend to anyone. read more

Lynese has been my barber for probably a decade. She does razor fades, which I always request. She will take care of you, do book your appointment with her. You won't regret it! D read more

Lynese has cut my hair the past six years I've lived in Austin. I was one of her clients at Floyd's and Tarrytown prior to her opening Marchica's Barbershop. She is professional and one of the most genuine people you'll meet! I love going in to get my haircut every time. She will take care of you. Overall service and experience is top notch. Absolute best barber around! I am sad that our family will be moving away from Austin. read more

Referred to Marchia's by a friend after my beloved years long barber was impacted by Covid and I was in desperate need of a haircut - and I've been loyal ever since. Both Lynese and Nic do solid work. Lynese is versatile with amazing attention to detail and should be a go to for anyone! But don't sleep on Nic, because the man does a mean fade! Both are amazing about remembering the preferences of their customers! Did I mention the hot towel and scalp massage when they wash your hair ? All for $30? Both are friendly, conversational, and absolute pros ! read more

Had my first haircut with Lynese today and I cannot recommend her enough. Moving about Austin, going from barber to barber to find that place where you can get that place where you can call home" has always been difficult for me. Today I found it. As soon as I sat in that chair she knew what I needed. I went in looking like a caveman and came out looking like someone from Hollywood. read more

I was trying to determine the other day how long I've been going to Lynese to get my hair done. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of eight years. There are many reasons why this is the case. She's one of the most loving, and caring individuals when it comes to taking care of her clients. Whether it's making recommendations on cut or style, treatment or products, she's able to take care of things. Her quality is top notch, and doesn't mind spending a little extra time to get things right. I was worried a while back when she was out of town and needed a cut, but fear not as Nick was able to step in and not miss a beat. These two are a one/two punch of doing things the right way for hair care! Need a shave? Say no more, it'll be one of the best you ever had. read more

I hung out with Nick and he set me up with the most beautiful shave I could ever encounter. He's a good person to talk to and has a lot to say. I must say it's a bit pricy but the experience was goooood!! read more

Had a wonderful experience with Lynese this Saturday. Let me start by saying that I have not been to a barber in a decade. I used to just shave my head, but in May of 2019 I started growing it out. 20 months later and here we are. My hair was long and out of control. I booked with Lynese after a good bit of research and I could not be happier. I had no ideas on how I wanted it cut but Lynese worked her magic and I am very pleased. She decided to keep it long but cleaned it up well. The neck shave and hot towel were great as well. The best part though had to be the conversation. She is such a nice person and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will most definitely be back. read more

Never written a Yelp review before in my life but after my visit to see Nick, I feel like it's necessary to show him some love for how great he was. I just moved to the Austin area 3 months ago and I've been searching for a barber who can do a great job. I'm super particular about my haircuts and I've tried a couple of barbers out since being here but after my initial haircut with Nick, I walked out of there and couldn't help but smile so big because I had finally got the haircut I'd been looking for. Honestly the best haircut I've ever had. I've gotten my haircut by the same barber in California for the last 3 years and on Nick's first try he got it done better than anybody else. Worth every dollar! read more

Typically I hate going to a new barber. It's always disappointing. But not today! Lynese was great! I'm not sure if it was the scented hot towel on my face or the scalp massage or the pleasant conversation, but I left relaxed and happy. And on top of that I offer course got a great hair cut. She did exactly what I said! read more

Had a beard trim with Nick to look the part for a friend's wedding. Although there wasn't much to trim in the first place, my beard left the place looking spectacular! In the process, he explained the nuances and logic behind all of his clippy snips and explained how to not cut a beard which was exactly how my previous barbers were trimming my beard. After the trim, he enlightened me about beard oil and allowed me to sample a few products. The price on the website (a great one BTW) said "$7+" and I had gone with the intention of getting the minimum $7 trim but only after the trim did I know about the extras that my trim consisted of, costing me $15 instead. Hence, a star less. But now I know to ask him for the minimum upfront next time. Excited to get a haircut here! read more

Like several other reviewers, Lynese has been cutting my hair for quite a few years. I believe it's been 6 or 7 years now. I've followed her across several establishments and couldn't be happier! When I leave her place I can always be confident that I not only look professional, but that my wife will love my hair. read more

Lynese is the best! Such a great/comfortable 1 on 1 barber shop experience. She gave me some of her amazing homemade cold brew and then gave me a great hair cut with a nice fade. Afterwards I got a nice hot face towel and shampoo followed by a short massage. This was truly an experience....not just not just a hair cut. - highly recommended! read more

Nick has been cutting my hair for some time now. He is the best I don't let anyone else cut my hair!!

Great shop! I wouldn't get my hair cut anywhere else in town. Nick has done nothing but great work. He's a master of his craft and I would highly recommend him to anyone. 10/10 will get my hair cut here again! read more

Really liked the haircut I got from Lynese. After losing my longtime barber who had his own shop, I found an acceptable substitute at Floyd's on Lamar. I didn't care that much for the mass production feel of Floyd's, but I put up with it for a year until the lady I had been using suddenly was no longer working there. I suspect there will always be high turnover at a place like Floyd's due to the less than generous terms of the working arrangements with the stylists. After much agonizing, I finally came across Lynese via an extensive search on Yelp. The online appointment system was very easy and let me know exactly what I was getting and how much it would cost. Her shop was convenient to me (MoPac at 183) and I found that she was in a place called Sola Salon which is a good sized building divided into twenty or so individual hair salons rented by different stylists. Seems like a great setup for the stylist who wants to be their own boss and implied a level of stability, which I hope is the case. Lynese turns out to be a lovely woman whose age I would not be so rude as to guess (you can see her photo on Yelp). She couldn't have been more pleasant or professional and I received a great cut for what I thought was a reasonable sum. The prices are part of the appointment process. For men's haircuts she allots 45 minutes and she generally takes that long. After two visits she had my cut exactly the way I want it and it has been smooth sailing ever since. I gave Lynese Marchica a five star rating, which she deserves for her professional abilities, her clean and nicely furnished shop, and the very pleasant treament and conversation you get in the process. I think you'd be very happy with using her. read more

Aye Yai Yai! What a great experience. Lynese M. has the human touch. She is genteel, interesting, and a great stylist. My favorite part of the experience is the hot towel on the face followed by a cool fan with the same towel. Men, you won't go wrong with a visit to Marchica! read more

Simplicity, I LOVE IT! Getting a quality haircut could not be any easier. I love that I can easily book an appointment with Lynese now that she has her own studio with great resources, as busy as I am this makes my life much easier. On top of that Lynese is definitely a master of her craft due to her experience in the industry. For the rate I pay for haircuts Lynese is able to provide the highest level of quality, definitely the bang for my buck. Her studio is beautiful and I feel so comfortable during every haircut. I ALWAYS get compliments on my haircuts after Lynese does her thing, talk about improving one's confidence! Highly recommend to experience her magic! read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Lynese for 8 or 9 years now. I've followed her everywhere on her journey from just a [really good] barber, to the manager of an insanely busy barbershop, to a smaller and fancier, albeit awkward, barbershop, to finally starting one of her own. Unlike dentists who make notes in their computers about your chats to bring up next time, Lynese actually remembers what you talked about the last time you were in her chair! She greets you by name, is super professional, and makes the experience super personal. She's a wonderful person. The haircuts are consistently good, and come with a massage, straight razor neck shave, and she even washes your hair. The location is super convenient too, and it's just a one chair operation, so it really is all about you. She's definitely one of the best barbers in town, and I consistently enjoy one of the best haircut experiences I've ever had every time I visit. read more

Great stright razor shave from nick. Free beer. Cheaper price for the shave then any other shop in town. More attentive. An all around great guy with top notch skills. He makes such good conversation at the end of the shave I wanted to ask him to be my friend and grab a beer sometime. Lol make sure you check out marchicas. read more

I am so glad I found Marchica again. I used to see her with Floyd's and found it very difficult to get an appointment with her. Now, you can book appointments ahead of time! She truly is dedicated to her profession and a true barber. Trust me you will not be disappointed! read more

Lynese's chair is by far the best I've sat in, and I've sat in my share of barbers around world. I've been going to Lynese for a year now, since I've been in Austin, and I have followed her from where I originally met her as a manager, competing for an appointment, to where she is now at her own place, because I quickly grew to see how incredible she is, and is worth following anywhere. It's her personable, yet professional style that makes you feel welcome when you are in her care. She genuinely wants her clients to be happy with the services she provides, whether you're going in for a buzz cut, and a line up, or something else in mind, she has a vast list of services she offers, and wants to be sure everyone feels and looks their best! Not to mention the warm towel, and neck/shoulder massage she gives with the classic Oster massager with each visit. She's the classiest barber around, in my opinion. :) read more
