This place is amazing. Great food! Great Staff! Great Price! My wife is Vegan and they have so many options for her. They even bring out Vegan Naan. AMAZING! Her favorite Vegan dishes are Gobi Manchurian & Aloo Gobi. I love both of them too and I'm not even Vegan. My personal favorites are the Chill Chicken, Chicken 45, Tinadaloo, Tandoori Chicken, Tikki Masala... They are all soooo GOOD!!! Be sure to stop in during the week for their lunch buffet. Try a little of everything for a very reasonable price. My wife and I try to stop in at least once a week but when we don't make it to Ridgewood we'll order to-go from their Fair Lawn location. Very friendly owner (siva) and chef(james) and all the other kitchen and service staff, suggest you to check on special dishes which is not listed in the menu. Place just opened this week. Curries were out of this world. We had the lamb khorma and the chicken tikka. Extremely flavorful they were, great to dip naan into. Service was pleasant. One big plus is the portion sizes. They really do not skimp on the meat. Both curries were loaded with succulent pieces of chicken and lamb. Prices are okay. We went for dinner on a Saturday night when they'd been open for three or four days. I had high expectations and it was better than I expected. The veg samasos were flaky and super flavorful. Not greasy at all. We got chana masala and palak paneer for entrees, both of which were excellent. Portions were bigger than I expected. Didn't try desert because the curries were so good. As someone else mentioned, the menu uses colors to describe meat/veg/seafood options, which is kind of hard to make sense of since the lights are dim. Service was good considering they'd been open for just a few days. Was pretty full when we arrived at 8. I also heard a server say they're adding a lunch buffet, so hopefully that's in the works. The food was ok - not great - not bad...just ok. I liked that the spice level could be adjusted. What i found really disappointing was the atmosphere. The music was downright creepy - not soothing or interesting. Even the bathrooms were a bit frightening. I say brighten the atmosphere up and by changing the music and the making the decor more interesting and i bet the feel for the food will be much better. Oh also, Dosa is such a specialty: don't just cut it into pieces and put it on a small plate. Present it!! read more

We moved from Tampa and was shopping near Ridgewood, google showed this place as the closest. We reached just before they close, but they were happy to have us, felt welcomed. Ordered Shrimp Pepper fry as an appetizer, it was authentic as it gets, at this point I knew I am at a real South Indian place. We ordered Chicken Biryani and VedaKozhi curry and everything tasted very good. We met with the Chef and he was super friendly and he let us try his house special Fish curry and it was probably the best Fish curry I have had in recent times. Going back again soon. This place is a real deal and if you like to try authentic Indian dishes, you should check out this place. Bonus tip: Try south indian dishes. read more

Hands down the best Indian food in Bergen county. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, especially to our baby daughter and she absolutely loves them and their food! Great food, great service, and fair prices!!! My wife and I went to Manjal last week during Ridgewood's Restaurant Week. We ordered from the special Restaurant Week menu, but we also checked the regular menu as well. We had a great meal: a chicken dish in a tomato based sauce and lamb in a special sauce. The portions were very large; we had enough to make a 2nd meal at home. The appetizers and dessert were also excellent. We topped off the evening with madras coffee--a mild and tasty blend. Brand new restaurant and already off to a great start! All dishes were delicious and incredibly filling - large portions, perfect for sharing. We had veggie samosas that were flavorful and perfectly crispy. Mains included tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, and chai masala with naan. Dessert was gulab jamun with chai tea. The chef came to the table after the meal to check in; he, along with the server, were so nice and warm...you really felt that they cared about what they were doing! One thing - the menu is a little bit confusing under the 'entree' field; dishes are listed in either green, yellow, or red. We originally thought that the colors correlated with the meat/protein selections on top, however the server told us the colors actually did not have any meaning. All that said, that's easily remedied by reformatting if need be, and it by no means negatively affected our spectacular meal and experience. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (and I thoroughly enjoyed myself again the next day with some leftovers!) and can't wait to go back. read more
