As far as the system goes this place functions ok, but every single component of the business end is a sleazy "bait and switch". The price changes at every single juncture. It's ridiculous. I can't only imagine that these are normal expenses and cost but the price they tell you in advance is nowhere close to the price you'll pay. Insurance, administration, promotional price.....it's insane. If you don't care about the manipulation and the cost, it's fine. These people are downright scammers and thieves. I have dealt with them for years the real estate, and they've always been great with me until I became a personal customer. They up sold me over the phone on a larger storage unit which I didn't need that they said would cost only $80 per month because that particular unit was on sale. It wound up actually costing me $120 a month with the insurance that they didn't tell me and then after two or three months they jacked up the price with no notice the price went all the way up to $240 which I refuse to pay so now they're saying they're going to auction off all of my things. read more

RUN. DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE PLACE. These people are so evil. They don't care at all about their customers, this is so horrible I have no idea what to even do right now. I rented this unit after finding out so had to leave to country for work on very short notice. I started moving in my belongings. Halfway through my code to get in the building stopped working. There was someone else outside having the exact same issue. But they aren't leaving the country for work so they can confront these horrible people tomorrow at 8am when they will actually answer. Half my stuff is inside; half is out. They say no one can help me until 8am. I have to be at the airport at 4am. I paid way too much for this unit, and I can't even cancel and move my stuff to another place. I'm completely screwed. They had the audacity to tell me they couldn't do anything because what was happening was "not an emergency, a emergency is when the building is on fire." Right now I am standing outside, half my stuff inside, half out. They have my money and my stuff--and I bet you these evil people keep charging me the full amount each month even after what they did. read more

It is mismanaged, the company overcharges and under-delivers. During the pandemic they had no van service and when the pandemic was over they started charging extra for things they never did before. There was no recognition for loyal costumers and no help to solve the issues. You just had to pay extra to access to your stuff. That's when you know there is no integrity and no customer service. I rented a unit in the E110th street location for several years. I checked out last week and my bin was loaded with mouse droppings and there was evidence of nesting in the space around the bin. I got home and a couple of my duffles were chewed into and clothing was chewed up and destroyed. Also found rodent pee and feces on several items. There was no food in my bin but I found what looked like hot chocolate packets shredded in the wall. I called the facility and left a message. So far no response 24 hours later and calling the main number they say they can do nothing. So I am not a happy camper. All that money I spent on storage fees and insurance and THIS is how well my stuff was protected? I am beyond disgusted and frankly upset. I cannot advise anyone to store their things in this facility. It's pretty obvious that it has a serious rodent problem going on and they clearly do not care much either. read more

I've had multiple lockers at Manhattan Mini Storage for over a decade and even as the prices have gone up, the value was apparent and the service reliable. But they were recently acquired by another company, StorageMart, which is already tanking their reputation. In the couple months since the takeover, popular amenities like the free storage taxi have vanished, while billing has started to include forced and hidden charges. The website is terrible for account management and I've had autopay turned off, twice now, without explanation, leading to even more additional charges. More telling than anything, the locations are understaffed and even the empaloyees have confided in their frustration with the new ownership. StorageMart has jumped in and pulled a bait-and-switch by trading off a good name and reputation and replacing it with their shitty cash-grab approach to business. But in a city like New York, standards will always be high and there are plenty of other options, so I'd suggest looking elsewhere for your storage needs, while the rats flee this soon-to-be-sinking ship. read more

The storage offers a coffee machine downstairs in the lobby you should check it out. Also being able to sit down and hang out. The bay in the parking lot is very spacious there are ramps accessible for the storage for heavy duty transportation. Fixed two elevators move very fast and huge in size. Long hallways very clean and air conditioned building. Building practically is almost brand new. The construction is well lit up at night and well seen when driving on 1st avenue. read more

This is the second time I have had the NYC emergency and had their life turned upside down. After 17 years and an accumulation of a lot of things I made a reservations Manhattan Mini. They have a special for 6 months. I wish I could remember who the young women was who walked me through the process of finding a resting place for my things. I use that term because it was like a funeral to loose an apt after 17 years, I was pretty emotional. She was compassionate, professional and understanding. I used their moving company as well. This can vary, they contract out so it is what it is. I also got very lucky the movers were great, they were fast, professional but caring about my belongings. They didn't throw things and move on. They packed and wrapped my bed, they stacked my boxes ( over 50 of just clothes ) marked them so it would be easy to get access to certain ones in the front. Back to why I use Manhattan Mini, yes there are storage places less expensive. Are they open almost 24/7? Clean, air conditioned? The place is spotless you have total access and control over your belongings. The staff is courteous, it's easy for trucks to pull in. They even have a mini bus that I didn't know about. I wouldn't trust my things anywhere else. I also just wanted to mention the prices vary depending how far off the grid you go. The center of midtown is more expensive then 44th and the FDR. It's amazingly easy to access in foot cross town bus down 42nd and walk 2 blocks. No one likes to be displaced but even if it's an extra space for NYC lack of storage apts. this place has it right. It's safe, secure, clean I wouldn't trust anyone else with my things. read more

After taking new ownership recently the owners and management have let the business/building go to the dumps. The rooms are over priced, the employee moral is depressing, and renters are using their own rental units as homes. There is no real security at this location (unsafe), parking is limited if you are scheduling a move in, & a place that calls itself climate controlled is all about saving money. There is no central air on the floors that work properly, the floors feel like 100 degrees so think twice before storing something valuable, and lobby is working off of fans (extremely professional and pathetic). Elevators are constantly shut down with customers getting stuck in them for hours before the fire dept comes to get them out. Would not recommend this facility to a family member or friend. The business went from owners who believed in making the customer a priority to a facility who is out for the all mighty dollar and could care less about the customer. Sad to see such a strong family business deteriorate so quickly and that many long-term customers have already closed out units and found better options with other facilities that believe in catering to the customer and developing long-term relationships. Would not recommend 1 out of 10 stars. I would give it a big fat zero if there was an option. Renter beware. Do your homework before committing to this facility or business. the customer service is pretty good BUT there is (or was at some pt since 2011) a mouse infestation in the storage units that I didnt find out about until I vacated. hope you like SURPRISES! I would suggest that any current or future customers put their items in SEALED containers & maybe tossing in some sort of reppellant may help too, not sure. I had some blankets and books inside of cardboard boxes and threw a lot of it away due it being surrounded by mouse droppings. I mentioned this when vacating my unit and was told that someone mustve had food in another unit....yada yada yada. My stuff had been there for 2 years, if at some point MMS knew there was a problem I would have liked to have been notified so I could tighten up any loose laying items. God only knows how long some of it was showered and marinated in rodent fecal matter. signed up for secure storage. kinda got it but kinda didnt or maybe this is normal and to be expected for storage units. if so, then excuse my dramatic review because I certainly was not aware. We cleaned out our unit before moving back to California, and it was a very stressful and unpleasant experience. I really don't understand why such a simple thing as a storage unit has to be made into such an unbelievably complicated affair, but there it is. They made every single step of the way painful, and we are not exactly difficult people. In fact, we hate difficult people! In the end, we did work out a way to avoid a $281 fee based on the fact that we couldn't be there on the last official day of our lease to sign in person, but in doing so they made us feel like we were a huge burden and how dare we expect any sort of service from them. I wouldn't rent a unit from them if I had to do it all over again. I realize you may have to, and maybe you'll get lucky and have a reasonable experience. But let me just offer this warning: Read every last word of the contract and understand it. Make sure it works for you, and ask questions. Yes, people should always do this but common sense people assume common sense rules (like hey, I'll pay you for the last month even though I'm not using it, but need to turn in the key to you today seeing as we are moving ACROSS THE COUNTRY!). Don't expect any customer service. They will not smile at you. They will not thank you. Do not count on the free shuttle service. Period. read more

On Friday night 08/08/14 my father and I were in agreement that we've experienced one of the most impressive displays of customer service from a young man named Joe ; or as my father would call him "joe the juggler". This gentleman was efficient, well spoken, and had great crowd control, being that there was a line and he was the only associate on staff. He was fast, addressed and acknowledged everyone's presents, he even began to offer courtesy waters. Joe made our experience a very smooth and painless one, he even got my father who can at times be a Grinch to laugh, with a series of tasteful jokes. When seeing Joe on Sunday again my father insisted on tipping him for his services on Friday, Joe refused to receive the tip and claimed that our satisfaction was all he needed. What a great Storage place. The employees are so nice I am writing a letter to the owner to tell them. Rent is so cheap , the place is so clean. If this place is convienent rent from them. Oh wait maybe dont rent from them bc the next time i need a storage place I want this place to be availaible. I called a place on 91st and 1st they wanted $240 a month for the smallest room Plus $5 a day JUST to able to access your storage room and you could only get to it M-F normal business hours. So, not only was I dealing with the daunting task of moving, but on top of that moving from New York- which is just harder than it needs to be for anyone. I was looking for a storage space on short notice because I was given the opportunity to take a job in another country for a year performing. I needed a place to put my stuff for the year so I shopped around online. I received a follow-up call from Manhattan Mini Storage after filing out an online quote. At first, I was annoyed because I was too busy to talk to someone who was trying to sell me something. But Angelique from MMS was so awesome, genuine and helpful that it was far from annoying. She helped me out with a great deal which also included a free taxi service that was prompt within the window of arrival. The taxi picked me up along with my stuff and took it to the storage unit. Once I got there, paperwork took a little while longer than I expected, but I preferred that because the gentlemen who helped me, Jason, was extremely thorough and very patient answering all of my questions. The building was extremely clean, air-conditioned and obviously well kept! My unit was on the third level. MMS provided easily movable ladders that lock into place to help you up to the storage unit. The unit was impressively clean and ready to be moved into! To say the least, I was EXTREMELY impressed with Manhattan Mini Storage. Impressed enough to go out of my way to write a review to let people know that using a storage space in Manhattan doesn't have to be a nightmare. Honestly, I was expecting a hellacious experience because I've only heard horror stories about storage spaces in Manhattan. After only having 6 hours of sleep within 48 hours from all the previous packing prior to coming to the storage, I managed to leave with a sleepy smile on my face and comforted that my belongings were in the right hands! Manhattan Mini Storage reach out to over 400 displaced customers who were scrambling for units throughout New York City, not only did they offer to move the contents of our units but guaranteed the same prices for one full year....thumbs up! At 401 E 110 St we were greeted by the charming associate Lauren, who accompanied my sister and I to view the rooms, perfect 10 ft tall ceilings, a dream come true! Time for the paperwork which is never much fun, yet necessary and when a glitch occurred in the computer the other associate was able to straighten it out pronto. Getting late, I didn't read the contract thoroughly until the next day and when I saw there was a problem with the start date it was corrected immediately after a phone call....I haven't actually moved in yet...that will all happen on the 5th and the 6th.....so far, so pleasantly pleased..... read more

They keep it very clean, offer carts and ladders to move items easily, have bathrooms available and this location has a convenient parking lot in back too! The setup is simple, and billing a breeze. I read reviews of MMS before I committed, and there were some disgruntled people so I was nervous but in the end, I thought they were excellent. I had a small unit for a year and never had trouble, my items were not damaged, I always had access, there were always carts to use to bring/take things. It was always clean, felt safe & secure, and I even found out that they are so on top of monitoring things that they monitor when you swipe your access card and whether you are in the elevator (so, if you haven't done that and someone opens your unit, an alarm goes off and they let you know) it was easy and convenient to access my things. Also, i anticipated some difficulty in canceling / no renewing my unit but they were exceptionally friendly, helpful and polite. Also, make use of the storage taxi! if you know when you're moving, you can schedule it and they pick you up, you can load your stuff, and bring you right to the place. Great for a young single gal without much family around to help move! highly recommend. read more

I used this facility to store my studio apartment while I was in between apartments. My stuff was in storage for ~1 month (June 2017). When I moved out, I found BEDBUGS in my cardboard boxes when I was unpacking in my new apartment on the 1st night. I had taken care to encase my mattress and seal up my clothes, but the cardboard boxes still became infested. The canine inspectors confirmed bedbug infestation only in my apartment and not in any other units in my building. I reported it to the facility and they just told me that my insurance with them did not cover bedbug infestations... They did not offer to cover the cost of treatment/inspection (which was ~$1500). I am very very disappointment in my experience with this facility and would NEVER recommend them to any friends or family read more
