I needed to move a small amount of stuff (less than a bedroom) from my childhood home in Connecticut to my house in California. There are tons of companies that will take small loads and combine with other small loads to make it worthwhile. I spent a lot of time researching, and I contacted lots of different moving companies. Many of them were desperate for my business, and frankly started harassing me by phone and email. Once I started digging further and reading customer reviews, practically all of them seemed to be horrific. As in the worst reviews I have ever read in my life, warning people to stay away, etc. Turns out that the majority of these moving companies are brokers who subcontract the job out to various other companies. In other words, you have no idea who will actually be picking your stuff up, who will be driving it across the country, who will be delivering, and so on. And so many people warned about their stuff getting lost or damaged and/or taking forever to finally arrive. I was actually about to just give up because I was not willing to take the risk. And thank goodness I found Cross Country Movers. They are a carrier, not a broker, which means that they do everything themselves and do not subcontract out any part of the job. I had a long phone call and multiple emails with Ari before I decided to hire them. He was patient and understanding and did not pressure me at all. Everyone with whom I interacted at this company was so helpful and accommodating. The two men who came to pick up my belongings at my mom's house in CT were wonderful. I received regular updates by text message with tracking info for the truck moving across the country. My stuff arrived safely exactly two weeks after pick up. And the fee was reasonable in my opinion - certainly less than I would have paid to rent a van and drive across country myself. I am extremely grateful to have found Cross Country Movers, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in a similar situation. I moved because my application to Harvard got accepted, I will be getting my Masters Degree. And I was so excited of receiving this letter and I am still excited! My mom and my family were so happy, they were crying because it was a goal of my life to study in Harvard University. Because of this awesome news, I needed to move everything I had. I searched in Google, Yelp and mom helped to find the best moving company - Cross Country Movers. Why the best? Because of some things that other companies could not provide me with: 1. Knowledge of customer service. From the first I knew that this company cost a lot because of great customer service. A representative was very nice, professional woman who helped me answered all my questions. She gave me detailed answer for how to book, what to prepare and what to expect. I was satisfied from the beginning. Booking went very well too. A few days later I called her back and left a credit card for deposit and for the future references. 2. The day of actual moving. I could say that I am always late anywhere: business meetings, meetings with my friend. I wasn't expect movers to arrive on time. I would be absolutely fine with me 30 minutes before or after scheduled time. But no, they came at perfect time: 15 minutes to 10 am at the day of moving. They parked their truck, took all equipment and came to my apartment. I was moving from 1 bedroom apartment of 1050 sq feet. It is pretty big and I had so much stuff that I thought 3 movers are not enough. I was wrong. They finished loading within 1.5 hours not including packing. Packing took another hour. The movers were very fast, professional and east going people. I was very nice to work with them. They packed all my fragile stuff with special wrapping and all the boxes were bubbled from the inside and marked which room it belongs. 3. The day of arrival to Boston. The truck came to Boston in 4.5 hours. It's pretty fast according to heavy traffic. The unloading part went even faster. 1 hour and all my belongings were placed to the right rooms and all the furniture and mirrors were unwrapped and placed to the room as well. I was moving from New York to Atlantic City and I was looking for a company who can fit my needs: good price, responsible workers, great service, able to do moving from state to state. Some of the companies for filtered because of unsatisfactory of above reasons: too expensive, local only a horrible customer service. Believe me or not - your choice but my move was done within 2 hours of packing, loading, 3 hours of driving to the destination and 1.5 unloading. It is very sweet and fast! Had a really great experience with cross country movers that I felt like I needed to share. From the start Luke was super helpful with assessing our needs for the move. We did 3 video calls to ensure everything that was being moved in the house was captured. We moved from NY to FL. On the day of the move the team that showed up was prompt, professional and had the entire house packed rather quickly. Once our stuff arrived in Florida we received a call to schedule a delivery. We had used Cross Country Movers and they did a fantastic job. Me and my family were moving to a new home so I decided to get a quote from them for my personal move. We were under a hectic schedule but they were able to meet and beat the deadline. We had to be out of our house by 9:00 am, they were there at 7:00am with four people ready to work. They all came over and introduced themselves and shook hands with us. That's something you don't see very often anymore so we were both totally impressed. They had the entire house empty and loaded on the truck in two hours! We were so shocked. They were very cautious, respectful, and professional at all times. We got to our new house and they unloaded everything just as the boxes were labeled. Once again, being careful of box contents, furniture and walls and doors to prevent any breakage or scrapes or wall dings. When they were finished-which didn't take long, they all again shook our hands and thanked us. The cost was considerably less than the last two times we had moved and the quality, speed, care of items, professionalism and friendliness was above and beyond anything I had ever experienced or expected from a moving company. The crew over at Cross Country did an outstanding job on our move, could not have anticipated a better overall process to have gone about like it did. Their whole staff is very friendly and ready to help you with any moving concerns that you may have and patiently prepared to answer all of your desired questions. Everything was done in a timely manner and there have been no damages on any of our belongings, as soon as we received everything I double checked of it. They arrived on time on both ends, never leaving us waiting or worried ever since the very first day of the entire move. The first day was the most nerve wrecking as it was when we had to face reality that we were moving out and we needed to actually clean everything up and move things out. The staff was very reasonable with their estimates and their arrival times, making sure to never slack off throughout the move. They were also very flexible on my schedule, my work schedule is pretty filled but they worked around it which was a huge plus. The moving crew arrived and worked hard throughout the whole time. I told the salesman over the phone that I had a big grand piano that needed to be moved with stairs and he told me not to worry, they'll be able to move anything that was originally moved in. Just as they said, the grand piano was disassembled and put back together in my new home which they did not have to do since they were not obligated nor reimbursed for that extra time but they still did it anyway, love these guys. Going with these guys was definitely one of the best decisions I've made in an extremely hectic week. We're expecting my father in law to move in with us, and we're moving apartments all in a couple of days so I needed the move to be flawless. We actually have a lot, I mean a giant collection of artwork and I was worried because we have had some disturbing experiences with movers in the past. However, I have to say Cross Country Movers was by far the best i have ever dealt with. They packed every single piece with care and extra padding and moved it thoughtfully. As soon as I talked with Cross Country Movers on the phone I knew I was in good hands. They were very professional and organized, and made sure I had all the information I requested throughout the process. Their price was the most affordable. And they did a free on call estimate as advertised, and then kept it to that estimate. They are very honest as well when it comes to letting you know what service you should go with. If they think two guys is enough they will just send them over, but if they suggest you have more people then they will tell you that as well. On the day of the move the team was timely and efficient, they were done in a little under six hours for five bedrooms and an office room. I had done most of the boxes but some packing still needed to be done, and nothing was broken. After taking everything out of the old house and after putting everything into the new house I did a check around the walls and house and saw no marks no scratches no dents. I can't thank these guys enough! Moving itself can be a very annoying and long process, but with these guys it didn't seem hard at all. It came to the point where my parents had to move the furniture, but we kept postponing the process until we could find someone that could make this process as smooth and good for us as possible. I mentioned about moving my parents furniture to one of my co workers, and he had just recently moved to our area and recommended me to these guys. He was very pleased with the work that was done and i sure am too. I called them as soon as i got the phone number and the receptionist answering the phone was very nice and pleasant to talk to. They patiently answered all my questions (trust me there were a lot of them) My phone was cutting off and they didn't mind repeating the answers. The price i was quoted on was very reasonable as well, and actually even cheaper than i was thinking it would be. I was hoping the movers would be just as helpful and friendly and they were! Let me just say that my dad is not easy to please and he likes to complain about everyone's work that's not his. But even he had no room to complain. Very unhappy with the overall service. Was moving from houston to new york and 2 people showed up to pack my stuff. Told them i have blankets to use to wrap the furniture in and they refused to use mine since they brought blankets to use. Fast forward to delivery and unloading to destination-- the delivery guys told me that they will take the blankets since its theirs. I was pissed, since i was not informed of this. My understanding was since they refused the blankets i provided, that those that were used will be kept -- when in the first place Kelly (salesperson) knew that all my stuff will go straight to a storage unit. Hence, i need protection for my furnitures. Complained to customer service about the debacle and, spoke to Chris and in the middle of my tirade he started yelling at me. I was taken aback and asked him why hes yelling at me and he said and i quote, "because you wouldn't listen". Of course not, i was upset! He shouldnt be working in customer service if he yells at all the upset customers he talks to. Customer service is horrible! You'll be better off using another company. read more

I used to live in Nevada and I was pretty happy with that place. I loved the weather and Vegas was so close to me. My friend got into car accident and the worse happened, he died. I was lucky, or it always like this - I do not know, but we called to consultant on Thursday, and on Sunday I was scheduled to get out of this city. I was moving from a large two bedroom apartment in two bedroom large apartment in Nevada. So many things - furniture (requiring prior dismantling), machinery, bales of clothes, a lot of kitchen small things, many living room floor flowers - all moved in one piece! The work was done by 4 movers. Guys came at 11 am (not late) and at 17.30 pm they have left already. All packaging has been on them, in advance, we almost nothing collected, dismantling of upholstered furniture, sofas and the decent of large equipment by hand from 9th floor (in the apartment complex there was no freight elevator). And the place where I was moving had no elevator as well. The movers worked without any problems, quickly. Very happy that decided not to move by myself on my own and I trusted my movers. I didn't get a package of packing and unpacking service because I have 2-5 piece of furniture, old ones that I was planing to leave on Chicago after I will be done with my course and boxes that I packed by myself. I literally was needed a few men to carry all these things and I found them - movers of Cross Country movers. They came earlier than the moving appointment was scheduled. They checked my place, checked the stairs and gates. Then they reparked their truck a little bit closer to the door and they started taking out my stuff. The moving process for started at 10 am on Thursday and it took them 2.5 hours to get the truck going. They were very confident of what they were doing. They were flipping the boxes with care and with very good speed. They were not lazy. At the end of the loading, they checked with me if their arrival to Chicago earlier or later okay with me. I talked a few minutes with them and they seemed to me very high intelligent people, knew how to manage their time and life. I like this kind of attitude. And yes, the truck came to Chicago 30 minutes earlier than expected time of arrival. They spent almost 2 hours of unloading the goods and they left. This company's service is an actual dream come true after all of that stress and headaches we had to endure in order to find a quality company. I wasn't expecting such hospitality from them, from the very moment the gentlemen who helped us via telephone answered he sounded very mellow and personable. It's great that they don't put your through to customer service or anything miserable like that since there are a lot of moving parts when it comes to moving a long distance. I am happy to say that all my updates were easily communicated throughout the whole move process. I kept having to call in and change up the itemized list. Their price is guaranteed based on the list of items, so make sure it is accurate. I wound up having to change the list numerous times without any issue. I guess they use some kind of software that takes all the weights, distance, etc into consideration in order to calculate the final cost.
