Manhattan Mini Storage on 110th St. in E. Harlem has gone totally downhill. Some of the staff is Not helpful & Very rude. I have had a unit for a few years. Since the new owners it is not the same. The halls & elevator floors are dirty, the carpets are filthy & stained. The rent goes up quite often & has gotten Very expensive!! There are "never enough" carts to bring your things in or out. Yesterday 2/1/26 I waited over an hour in the lobby w/a few people & never saw a cart. Finally my husband & myself starting bringing things down little by little, we were there 2 hours, this whole process should have taken 30-45 mins. I closed out my account! Came in to look at storage unit sizes the other week in preparation for a potential move I will be making, depending on job offer. Kirk at the front was incredibly helpful and provided multiple options, in addition to showing me each option. Super help and informative. He even held a unit for me as I was still awaiting further info from job. I received notice that my homeowner's rental insurance policy was expiring several weeks before I was to be charged for the company's insurance, sent a copy of my policy by email, and within minutes received a friendly email from Baba letting me know it had been received and there would be no additional charge. I had the same experience last year. This level of customer service - prompt, thoughtful, professional, responsive - is unusual today and I appreciate it greatly! read more

Manhattan Mini Storage on 134th street has the following features: FREEZING in the winter. SWELTERING in the summer. PIGEON FEATHERS in the "windows," for all you scientists looking for disease samples. CANCELLED shuttle service (no more free trucks to/from the units). FLOODING from Hurricane Ida ruined one box. Fortunately my unit was only on the 6th floor. I feel bad for anyone who has/had storage units closer to sea level. DARKNESS! Lights shut off after 3 minutes of no one walking through the halls. All the lights. Do not access your unit without bringing lanterns or a flashlight. The only advantage to this location is that it's less expensive than storage facilities that lack the features listed above. Other storage companies might be more expensive, but construction hats are more expensive than paper hats. read more

My rent has been hiked $40 in three months and $25 three months before that. It started at $129 and is now $243 less than two years later. The same unit in the building is currently listed for rent at $112. They keep you on three month leases that they raise by any increasing amount with each renewal. You are given no notice and the increases can be by any amount. Each comes with a lease you never see or sign full of new hidden fees, most recently a late payment fee of 25%. Such harsh penalties encourage you to use autopay, making you less likely to notice massive price hikes. All emails are ignored and the office will tell you to move to another identical unit to get back to a fair rate. I was told that over 100 people moved within the building at the start of this year, a huge waste of time with no benefit to anyone, just to get around predatory price hikes. Most people keep their storage units longer than they expect. An honest one year lease with a reputable facility will cost you far less than this predatory business model. read more

RUN. DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE PLACE. These people are so evil. They don't care at all about their customers, this is so horrible I have no idea what to even do right now. I rented this unit after finding out so had to leave to country for work on very short notice. I started moving in my belongings. Halfway through my code to get in the building stopped working. There was someone else outside having the exact same issue. But they aren't leaving the country for work so they can confront these horrible people tomorrow at 8am when they will actually answer. Half my stuff is inside; half is out. They say no one can help me until 8am. I have to be at the airport at 4am. I paid way too much for this unit, and I can't even cancel and move my stuff to another place. I'm completely screwed. They had the audacity to tell me they couldn't do anything because what was happening was "not an emergency, a emergency is when the building is on fire." Right now I am standing outside, half my stuff inside, half out. They have my money and my stuff--and I bet you these evil people keep charging me the full amount each month even after what they did. read more

The actual storage unit is fine but the office staff member I spoke to was incredibly condescending and rude to me for no reason. He said I was "out of payment" which means that I don't have auto-pay for the storage unit. I told him that it's fine (I didn't have autopay in Maryland for my storage for 9 months and I paid on time) but he said something along the lines of "well I don't want to hear about late fees". Then he mumbled something after giving me the gate code and then blamed me for not following directions to my own unit. I have been a Manhattan Mini Storage Customer on and off for several years at numerous locations. I have been at this location since February 2019. I always had a great experience with them. However, I recently had a TERRIBLE interaction with someone who was part of the new StorageMart team. He was rude, condescending, dismissive, and lacked the manners, communication skills, and customer service skills of the original Manhattan Mini Storage Team. I was so upset by this disrespectful and insulting exchange that I was ready to move my stuff out IMMEDIATELY. The person that stopped me from leaving was Carmen. She is the one that turned this around and made it right. She took the time to listen, explain the new changes/policies under the new company, and took the time to resolve my issues. Carmen is excellent. The best ever. It was such a pleasure speaking with her since she is an effective communicator and has an incredible grasp of excellent customer service. People like her and Kirk are true assets to the company. The StorageMart team members need to be properly trained on how to properly communicate with customers. I can't imagine how many customers have left because of the trash interactions that they may have had with these new Storage Mart people. If it wasn't for people like Carmen or Kirk, I would not be a customer. read more

This company keeps charging me $285 monthly after I pay my daughters bill. These ghost charges show up on our Amex but not on online account. They say they will get to bottom of problem but they don't. Customer service won't help. Local store won't help. I am starting to believe this company is trying to steal from me. After reading many Yelp reviews for movers/storage in Manhattan, I decided to go with Manhattan Mini Storage. I had used Flat Rate before, but for moving only, and so I was looking for a convenient, well-priced move + storage deal. Though my apartment was on the UWS, I went with this location because it had the cheapest rooms at the time. We picked up boxes, tape, and bubble wrap at the 107th St location, and everyone there was helpful and friendly. They tied the boxes together so we could carry them home easily (not that novel, but still appreciated!). The best part of the move BY FAR was the moving crew. These guys showed up and immediately set me (and my overly anxious mother) at ease. They had extra packing supplies for the dresser and couch, and were seasoned experts at hauling stuff down my narrow pre-war apartment stairwell. And they were hilarious to boot. I wasn't nervous about the in-transit safety of my stuff for one minute. If you go with Manhattan Mini Storage, request Tom, Steve, and Paul for your movers. They're the best movers I've dealt with, and super time efficient. Moving in the city is stressful enough--get movers that will do the job right! read more

Something to be aware of... If you elect the month-to-month option upfront (it's more expensive) then later decide to use the storage unit for a longer time, you are stuck with month-to-month. So really try to plan out your needs because it could save you A LOT of money. I had been paying month-to-month but called to request a long-term rental contract for 6 months (at a cheaper rate) and I was told they can't do that. The only way to get a cheaper long-term rental rate is to go online, find a cheaper price, quote it to them, RENT A NEW/ DIFFERENT STORAGE UNIT AT THE SAME FACILITY, and physically move all of belongings into the new unit. How on Earth is that convenient for anyone? Labor intensive for me, and paperwork intensive for them. I don't get it. I want to keep my storage unit for longer, you'd think they would be happy to offer me a contract. But no. read more

If you think you're going to get a storage unit (room) anywhere in Manhattan for $39 the joke is on you. Clearly we're talking about (maybe) a closet at this price. ***The facility is great, the representatives helpful, and I got a Great Deal on a 8 x 8 room with a 6mnth contract that also helped cover the cost of the move itself. ***The first 2.5 hrs were free, using their contracted pick (WHICH WERE A DREAM COME TRUE may I add.) ***Big Thanks to "Moving Ahead Movers" [Danny on the phone, and the angel movers; Tyree, Mikey Brick, & Larry] So Fast it blew my mind. I ended up paying only $96 for the move due to their hustle. They were very professional and took great care with my furniture. Caring especially for my "prized pieces", my art and my grandmothers lamps :) Remind you, I lived in a one bedroom apt on the other side of the island and on the 5th floor walk up. Great Deal. I know it's a cliche, but it's the truth: I hardly ever write reviews. I have to be realllyyyy moved in one direction or the other to even consider it, and today I'm here to sing the praises of Manhattan Mini Storage, and especially Luis Garcia, who has been of incredible assistance every step of the way with them. I've had storage units on both coasts now, a few different times, all with a company that shall remain nameless. Let's say it rhymes with Bublic Blorage. I guess I was used to that (sub)standard level of service, because I never dreamed having a storage unit could be this lovely an experience! Really reasonable pricing, immediate availability, and numerous locations are great enough. But to my utter SHOCK, actually making the arrangements to move my things into the unit was actually easy. Luis Garcia set everything up for me, and the shuttle van that was scheduled was FLAWLESS. The driver, Alexander, called exactly 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled time window, helped me with my boxes, and was so kind and polite during the ride, which, by the way, was just myself in a cool, clean van with wi-fi. Luis went above and beyond when I got to MMS, the Harlem location, to make sure I was settled in comfortably, and he happened to be there on my second visit as well, when he went above and beyond again. I had gotten there on my own and planned to just cab it back, but Luis said he could try for a shuttle for me even though (as I knew) rides are meant to be scheduled in advance. Nonetheless, a shuttle was there for me in what worked out to be perfect timing. This shuttle policy is bananas. They're available at any time as long as you're going to or departing from a MMS facility, which still blows my mind. Not just to move in, but the entire time you're using a unit. Again, I'm used to having to pay and go through the hassle of renting a moving van to move in and out of Bublic Blorage, so this is a dream. I jokingly promised Luis I wouldn't abuse shuttle privileges and start using it like my personal car service, but it's been so dependable thus far, it's tempting to try. read more

I was impressed with their timely response as I received a phone call minutes after I had put in a reservation request. Sean was extremely helpful over the phone and proceeded to explain everything to me and get me set up. On the day I arrived, Vanel Guillot took down all my information, showed me the storage area, and got everything in order for me. It was a smooth operation and I was able to move everything into my storage locker very easily. Vanel exhibited amazing customer service skills and made me feel at ease. The facility itself is clean and seems well maintained. The equipment I used was all in good working order and the security of the place seems legit. I am comfortable keeping some of my valuables there and not worrying whether or not they are safe. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because on top of the monthly rental fee, you need to have insurance. I'm new to putting things into storage and at no point over the phone was I made aware of this. My suggestion to the staff making the phone calls would be to go over this with prospective customers. Let them know about this and give them the prices. It isn't a deal breaker by any means, but it is nice to have the extra info. I would recommend this facility to others. read more

I have been a customer at the Riverside location for 3.5 years now. I've moved multiple times (more than you would believe) and each time, I require a slightly different set up with my furniture...so I'm always moving things in and out of my space. From the van drivers who come to pick you up, namely Aubrey, to those who help customers in the store like Alicia and even the managers over the store like Satyam, the service & experience is from soup to nuts AWESOME. Every time I've come to my space, each person does something to help me that makes me say "should they be doing this...isn't this sort of above and beyond?" and they do it with a smile! They take the storage business really seriously over there...and that's important because after all, it is your precious belongings. I would highly recommend this location to anyone who is looking for friendliness, convenience, and service that exceeds expectations. read more

He helped me load all of my things into the moving van and offered me water for the ride to the storage unit. Then when we go to the location he helped me unload all of my things neatly and safely onto the moving carts and directed me to the front desk area to check in. I booked a storage room on line, just like my fellow Yelpers suggested and immediately received a call from a manhattan mini storage facility reservation desk employee who INSISTED, in a harsh tone, "we'll get to that" every time I asked a question, obviously not in the order he was reading to me. By the tone of his voice I can tell this guy is probably one step away from being arrested on domestic violence charges. I may be a woman but no one puts me in a corner. This guy needs retraining. As she was helping me a man came in and got very aggressively upset that the elevator was not working and she handled the situation very professionally and calmly. Definitely happy with them...it helps that they are just two blocks away and we go back and forth with stuff all the time. Best part is the free Storage Taxi service. We have used it a few times already - basically, they provide curbside pickup/drop off service, one of the locations being the storage unit. ​They also have promotions all the time (ex. sign up for 6 months, get one free move - which I took advantage of when moving to my current apartment). Overall, I would definitely recommend it - two thumbs up! read more

When I first did my buisness with them, the people were very nice and courteous. Rosa helped me open my account with them and was very helpful. However, I was not aware that I would have to put down a security deposit on the account and the man that I spoke with on the phone made no mention of it when I initially was interested in setting up a account/unit with them. I ended up having to pay 2 months security for a unit that I only had to use for 1 month, which was over $500. This, to me, is ridiculous. It would have been 3 months security that they needed, but since I signed up for their direct withdrawl payment plan, they were nice enough to reduce it to 2 months... They ask you to give them 21-days notice when you are vacating the unit, which I made sure to do. I vacated the unit on the frst of the month. 4 days later, they withdrew a month's rent on the unit and due to it, my account was overdrawn. Money should have never been taken out of my account in the first place. I had already vacated the unit and gave them enough notice. I spoke with them and they stated that they would reverse the charge. The next day they called me to state that a "check had been cut and they are mailing it out." I had to ask my job to loan me the money so that my account would not be overdrawn... I will not be a returning customer for this company, nor will I recommend any of my friends to do so either. read more
