Avocado Egg White - breakfast sandwich
    Debbie W.

Yummy! Visited the drive through and received our order pretty quickly. Not too quick that you'd assume it was premade but quick enough that you know they had it together in there. Friendly staff. We don't necessarily recommend the Avocado Egg White sandwich but that's more of a personal preference. The original classic was exactly as expected. (Don't ask for salt, pepper ketchup - that's something that you have to add after if wanted). The bagels were very soft which to me was a benefit. It didn't feel like I needed to bite hard or chew a lot in order to eat the sandwich like many other more thick and hard bagels do. Give Manhattan bagels in Flemington a visit!

Good but not great bagels for the area. They are softer than many of the others in the area. Very friendly service. Nice setup inside but not super clean. I toasted a sesame bagel later and it was average.

A great new stop on the Holistic Wealth Planning TM Tour!

Excellent, light grain bagel with eggs and cheese. Great banana and strawberry shakes. The customer service was excellent and the staff was friendly. Plus good wifi! The store was very clean. I will be back when I am in Flemington on my next Holistic Wealth Planning TM Tour.

It's such a great local spot, and I don't think enough people realize what it is or how good it's become. My mom and I stopped in for lunch and sat outside on Main Street, which was honestly so lovely. It felt really special to just sit, enjoy a great meal, and be part of the community. We met Mo, who took such great care of us and made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. We started with the hummus, which was incredibly fresh and smooth, and you could tell everything was made with care. For our mains, we had the lamb chops and the lemon chicken, both of which were delicious. The lamb was tender and perfectly cooked, and the lemon chicken had such a bright, balanced flavor. The potatoes were a standout, roasted and finished in a lemon butter that made them unforgettable. If you haven't been in a while, or didn't realize there's been a change, it's definitely worth stopping in. Main Street businesses could really use the support, and this place is one that deserves it. Go say hi to Mo and give it a try.

But it's either closed or parking is impossible or the street is overrun with police. Or worse yet - all 3. Last week however, it was open, bumping with people, and there were available spaces. Federales were still patrolling but I was locked in on carbohydrate comfort and thus unbothered. I dipped in for a couple coffees and sweets. It was about 1030 and we were headed to lunch afterwards so I kept it simple. I really wanted the malted latte but called an audible at the last second for a Paloma refresher. I also grabbed a rye (!) chocolate chunk cookie and an apple cake muffin. If we weren't going to lunch I would have ordered the avocado toast. It sounded delicious and while I was there a customer got one and it looked incredible! I really liked the food here - it was understated. I feel like a lot of bakeries hit you with cloying sweetness because bakery but anyone can dump a bunch of sugar in something - AND I ADORE SUGAR. But the restraint shone here really allowed the flavors to shine through and the food didn't sit like bricks in our tums. Very lively space with ample seating inside and out - I'd really like to come back on a day I'm playing hooky from work. Which given the state of my mental health could be as early as tomorrow. They're closed on Mondays though so let me pull myself together ;)

There was a line outside the door, but it moved quickly as they had a nice process put in place. The staff was friendly and accommodating as we were ordering. I will describe what I had below. Personal Rosemary Focaccia ($16) - This was very large. I had this with homemade pasta, and it did the job. It was very light and cooked appropriately. The rosemary was definitely tasted on the outer edges. Pistachio Chocolate Almond Croissant ($7.75) - This was solid. It was very flaky and buttery with plenty of the chocolate filling. The chocolate was smooth and not overly heavy. I was hoping for a little better balance with the pistachio but did not taste much even though it was clearly there. B&C Turkey Club ($19) - This sandwich had turkey, thick-cut bacon, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on their country bread. This was made to order. The sandwich was well constructed with great layers. There was just enough mayo where the sandwich was not overly wet or dry. Everything went together nicely, but the country bread was the key. Will I go back? No doubt.

The food here is to-die for, and is certainly one of the best restaurants in the area. I have friends who visit from out of town who specifically request to go to Blue Fish during their stay! The prices are great for the quality of the food. I always opt for the build-your-own entree. This time, I chose the brisket with a side of the caramelized plantains, but I also often go with the chicken, steak, or salmon with the pesto butter. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. The staff are very kind and the service is quick. The interior is modern and up-to-date, paralleled by its brick historic vibe exterior, as the Stangl Factory building was once a pottery/ceramic factory. Now, the building is home to Blue Fish Grill, as well as a number of other businesses including an artist-owned gallery, a large pottery studio, a medium, and a yoga and physical therapy studio. Stangl also hosts a weekly artisan farmers' market and bi-monthly live music and art events. It really is a growing creative community. Blue Fish Grill doesn't have a bar, but they do allow BYOB. If you find yourself in the Flemington area, be sure to grab a bite at Blue Fish! It will surely be a meal to remember.

However, my recent Sunday visit was a vaguely "meh" experience due to some disappointing service. We found out the hard way -- only after being seated, handed menus, and perusing our options -- that they strictly observe their "Breakfast Only" rule on Sundays. I was really craving a sandwich (having already eaten eggs earlier in the day), but when I asked for an accommodation, I got a blunt "No, we can't do that. We only serve breakfast on Sunday." I mentioned I was lactose-intolerant and almost all of the breakfast options (omelets, breakfast burger, etc.) were made with milk or cheese, but our server said the kitchen doesn't like making substitutions. This felt especially draconian considering there was only one other party seated in the restaurant at the time. To make matters worse, once I settled on a two-egg breakfast platter, the server informed me they were out of my first two meat preferences. My dining companion's omelete was served without key ingredients she added (and we were probably charged for). Our server never dropped off a check, so I walked up to the counter to pay after finishing our meal. Our server seemed genuinely surprised when I handed her enough cash to cover what she said our total was.. plus a ~20% tip (which I paid in spite of the service issues because I'm not a barbarian). The food itself was alright once it arrived, but the service just felt disjointed and "off" the entire time. It's a decent enough spot for the basics, but between the total lack of flexibility and the service hiccups, I'll say 2.5 stars rounded down to 2 stars and definitely won't try again next time I'm in Flemington. PRO TIP: They don't offer complimentary tap water with your meal, but they are happy to sell you a 16 oz plastic bottle of Poland Spring.

This was our first time at their new location. We opted to not use their valet parking service and instead found free street parking not too far away. I chose the Vanilla Cookie tea which was lovely and would be a redo for me. I wasn't wild about the selection of scones for the day but I enjoyed my peanut butter candied almond scone. The scones come with sides of lemon curd, preserves, and clotted cream. Even sandwiches that I was a little leery of were delicious! The "Tea Sweets" were also yummy but I was so full I ended up taking most of them home and my husband ate them on me. It did not disappoint. You'll walk into basically an explosion of cuteness. Little posh hats, lots of wallpaper, adorable tiny tea pots and cups. You'll want to look around and explore and you should! They have a full lunch menu, and everything looked amazing. We were aiming for a proper tea, so we did the Castle Collection and Teaberry's Sweets. Each gave us a pot of tea of our choice and an assortment of either little tea sandwiches or sweets. I didn't expect to but I left full! This was a fun way to pick, try a little of a lot of options and enjoy the tea as the main attraction. Highly recommend.
