Worst service I've experienced in my lifetime. Went in about an hour before close and no literally one else was waiting to be seated and it took them 20 minutes to seat me. Service and follow up horrible. Went for dinner and was turned away. Talked many times to the owner over fb. They wanted to gift me a gift card three weeks ago. I went to the downtown location to pick it up as asked. The server who claimed to be the manager there told me he wouldn't give me one unless I called the owner and put them on the phone myself. This was after being asked if they wouldn't serve me alcohol... I said no, they weren't serving food after 8:25. After being denied the card and wasting my time being judged, the person on fb then called the downtown location and spoke with the guy I delt with. I immediately got a call back from him asking me to come back. He had already been rude enough to me so I told him no. He grabbed my address and said he would mail me a gc. I followed back up on the fb chat a week anna a half later and they said go back in and I'll have one waiting. I asked what time and they never responded. Followed up again on fb a week later and now the person said they have no idea who I talked to. Now they are telling me to email them if I want a card. No sir... I wanted better customer service and follow up of the owner not denial. read more

This was probably the worst dining experience I've had from beginning to end. To start off the host sat another table of two ahead of us in a much better spot even tho they came in after us. He offered them bar seating right away when he didn't even bother to ask me and the person I was with if we were over 21. At this point I'm considering that to be racially motivated as it has not been the first time this has happened with that specific host. He then sat us at a table 15 minutes later that was empty the entire time we sat and waited. To top it off the table was right next to the front door so every time the door opened we got freezing cold wind blowing at us. Ordered the mango chicken and it was missing the butter sauce it was suppose to come with and on top of that the entire meal was cold. I'm really excited that Spokane is getting more diverse food options. I have been planning on trying this place since I saw the sign saying it was Indian cuisine. Pros: Everything we ordered was very non Spokane in an excellent way. Full of flavor and spices. We ordered : Chicken Tikka Masala: I went with this because it is a standard Indian dish. It was nice :) we ordered all the spice levels at 1 because we had our toddler with us. It had a nice balanced flavor and spice level. Mango chicken: Yes! I loved the flavor of this. I ordered this because when at Mango Tree one has to get something with Mango in it. I was not disappointed, it was great. Some pieces were more tender than others, but that's my only advice on that. Butter chicken poutine: To be honest, I'm not a poutine person. I always find them to be bland and uninspiring on the palate. This was a creative and tasty twist on a classic poutine. I would actually order it again. Naan Bread: original and buttered. Each comes with 4 LARGE pieces, so it's worth the price and we ordered way too much. It was nice Naan, not sure if more needs to be said on that. Cons: Ohh for the love of all that is holy, hire a bus boy. It took way to long to flip tables. We were sat by a dirty table that took nearly 40 minutes to be cleared and wiped, but the food covered floor was never swept under it. It took an excessive amount of time to be sat while we waited for the servers to have time to clear tables in between helping guests that have already been seated. I had to fight the urge on several occasions not to get up and help clear the tables. It was painful to watch. I think the servers did what they could considering the situation, but it was clear that they were overwhelmed with the amount of tasks needed. My server Justin was really nice, he seemed a bit nervous and overwhelmed, but he pushed through. Keep it up Justin hopefully they work the kinks out and it is a better work environment. All in all, I was really frustrated with the slowness of the service. The food also took a long time, and my appetizer was served with my entrees. There was a lack of management presence, which could have easily made the situation better with proper delegation. HOWEVER, DAYUM! It was good for Spokane Indian food. We will come back, hopefully things will be smoother by then, as I have a list of other items I would like to try. -it was also very kid friendly, which was great read more

Walked by here a few weeks ago, the smell was tantalizing. It smelt so good we've been waiting to eat here.. Tonight was the night, first time dining in and they have a much larger place than it appears outside. Bar in the back with extra seating, and it was much cooler sitting back there than up front by entrance. Menu had quite the array of rice choices, curry options with add'l protein choices (lamb or prawns) for upcharge, and NAAN, don't forget the Naan. We started with samosas, hot fried veggies with mint chutney and a tamarind sauce. WOW the tamarind sauce was so tasty, I could have ordered more to eat on everything. I got the mango curry with prawns spice level 2, it was quite spicy, and opted for the garlic Naan which was so tasty a bit greasy but so good covered in garlic. The mango rice was a great summer decision, so light, refreshing with actual mango. My husband got the Tikka masala with lamb and it was so tender, flavorful. The chicken tikka missala was good. The rice was nasty, smelled like cockroaches were I. The tube of rice and then it wasn't rinsed very well. The naan was good so we ditched the rice and ate the missala with the naan- much much better. Worst rice we've ever had. Horrible tasting and the smell, it's rough. (No one else in line) but multiple employees walked by us and even up to the register, (where we were standing 3 feet from) not once did they say hi, or yeah we will be right with you or Any form of acknowledgment, so we just left as this guy stood at the register refusing to acknowledge us, out of the hundreds of options for food that we could have chosen, the thing I'm concerned with is why would I choose to come to back or ever recommend a place that i don't feel welcome at? If you're looking for authentic Indian food, this probably isn't it (and honestly, I'm not sure why you're looking for authentic anything in Spokane - it's not a cultural mecca). But the food is tasty, it's a very safe and approachable menu with something for everyone, the vibe is good, and the service is great. I'll be on the hunt for a more authentic Indian restaurant, but I'd come back here for a quick lunch and I'd enjoy it. read more

Phenomenal. Just phenomenal. The flavor and authenticity of this restaurant is amazing. We got the Samosa and Aloo Tikki appetizers which were really great. The Aloo Tikki could easy be a main dish or shared with a lot of people. For the meals we got the butter chicken and the tikka masala with paneer. The latter was my favorite, seriously so much flavor! And I like the portion sizes. We got spice level 2 and it wasn't spicy at all which was great. This will be a go to! read more

Downtown Spokane has a great new Indian food restaurant. My wife and I have been waiting for them to open to try out. We were not disappointed, Sunday evening they were packed even outside sidewalk dinning was full we took a booth in the bar and Taylor our waitress/bartender did a great job with drinks and orders on such a busy night. The Butter Chicken was great and so were the apps. We will definitely be back as regulars. read more

This place gets all the important stuff right. The food is really good. We had butter chicken and coconut chicken and both were on point. Good rice and they bring you nice big portion of really good naan. The service was a tad lackluster, but it was probably a rough day (Pride and graduations). They are often very busy with not much staff on but the staff they do have are awesome and very fast. I've been missing decent Indian food in Spokane since the Great Taaj closed (even if some things were wanting their lunch buffet was great). I had heard good things about Mango Tree from friends but finally stopped in after doing some shopping downtown. It's in the building that housed the old Hills' Restaurant and Lounge. It looks like they did some minimal renovating and opened to an eager patron community. They were very busy with both dine-in and take-out on a Sunday evening. All tables were occupied and the staff were scrambling to clear tables. We were seated within 15 minutes and service was efficient despite the rush. I had to sample the mango lassi and it was verrrrry good. Mango-y, not overly sweet or artificial tasting, and on the thicker yogurty side like I prefer. Hubs and I ordered the chicken tikka masala and aloo gobi each with 3 stars, and both were tasty, as were the rice and Naan. We prefer moderate-to-heavy spice so could probably could have gone with 4 stars on their scale. We also would probably prefer a greater intensity of flavor in addition to more heat. We ordered pretty conservatively but their menu has interesting looking Indian cuisine-inspired offerings like naanchos and butter chicken poutine. Seems like a great place to stop in with friends or get take out on your way home from work. read more
