Was looking for a new place to try. I've driven past it on Division for awhile, and was curious. The ambiance is modestly unassuming, but the food was amazing! We had the Beef Manto dumplings, the chicken kebab, and an order of the curried eggplant. Everything was packed full of flavors. We went before the dinner hour, and our server explained it would take about 20 minutes. Worth the wait! My wife and I enjoy cooking lots of varied cuisines at home, and consequently feel like the bar is set pretty high when we eat out. Needless to say, we'll be back. I was excited to find out there was an African restaurant in Spokane and especially thrilled at all of the positive reviews when I looked the place up. I got an order of the Manto (dumplings), the Koobideh kebab, and the meatballs with a side of rice. The Manto was prepared well and was tantalizing as I had hoped. The koobideh was flavourful, perfectly cooked, and just what I wanted. The Meatballs with a side of rice was more of me trying something new, and I can say it was full of flavour and I was not disappointed at all. I highly recommend this place to all those who like Afghan food, and even those who have not given it a try. Please do! Service staff was friendly and ambiance made me feel like I was at a restaurant/gathering in Afghanistan, and made my imagination create a positive association. Prices are on the higher end. The food here is phenomenally excellent. Everything on the menu is good. You can't and won't go wrong with anything you order. Some things are my favorite like the Manto and the Kabuli Pulao rice but everything is good. The ambiance is chill and relaxing and the service is friendly. Depending on how busy the restaurant is it might take some time to get your food but it is well worth the wait. The best food with such great flavor. We arrived on a Tuesday night and it wasn't very busy. We shopped through the small marketplace and found some really awesome, unique treasures. The inside is rather plainly decorated however, they have a few seating places to take off shoes and eat amongst friends. Very welcoming and authentic feeling. The food was great and very flavorful. We ordered the naan as a side and that was slightly disappointing. It was rubbery, like it had been microwaved, which was not what I was expecting. Overall great service and delicious food. My sister and I wanted to try something different and we are so glad we decided to go with this restaurant. My sister had the eggplant curry and I had the kabuli Pulao. The Pulau was perfectly seasons. I'm not too big on raisins, but it was just the right amount to enjoy my dish. The Manto was added because it looked appealing and boy we were so glad we did! Let me tell you.. it was so good I had to drop my silverware and use my hands. The creamy sauce they gave us on the side was perfect with everything we ordered. Four of us had dinner here on a Saturday. Some of the reviews had us worried but dinner and the entire evening were wonderful. Dine here with confidence! We were greeted warmly by our waiter and sat in one of the fancy booths. These were quite comfortable. We ordered two rice dishes, the eggplant curry and the beef dumplings. All washed down with green tea because the waiter said it was most authentic. One of the rice dishes had a lamb shank. This was fantastic. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the raisins and spices really completed the dish. The curry was similar to other curries but full of eggplant and flavor. One of us was a vegetarian and praised it highly. Lastly the beef dumplings. These were a really interesting item, full of flavor and texture. These were very tasty and my favorite. My husband and I went tonight and sat in a private booth on one of the raised floors. They were clean and well-maintained. While the service was a little slow the food more than made up for it. I ordered the chicken kebab and my husband got the Manto. Both were cooked to perfection, and the flavor level was so good it was a little unbelievable. (Especially the Kebabs! It's meat on a stick, HOW was it that good!?!) My advice for customers: They make the food to order so don't be in a hurry when you go. The wait wasn't a super long time, and the waiter did a great job of communicating how much time our meal would take. Take this opportunity to wander into their market or just soak in the ambiance. I'd also suggest that because things can get a little slow, order your dessert with the rest of your meal. That way you're not waiting around for service. Fresh and well prepared. All the other dishes on the menu look great, but for vegetarians, bolani is the one. There's a small market that sells clothes, kitchen items, serving dishes, and spices. Service is very slow, so come when you're not in a rush. The host was apologetic about that, saying he has to run the whole place on weekends. Friendly person. Just had dinner at this great new place, they've only been open for a week now. They have a limited menu at the moment, mostly Afghan food, but our server was telling us they plan on expanding the menu to include Turkish and Irani cuisine as well. We tried the kabuli pulau and the manto, both of which were delicious. The pulau is a seasoned rice dish with beef and raisins and carrots. The manto are filled dumplings covered in two kinds of sauces (one of them a yogurt sauce) and some cilantro. I've never had Afghani food before and was very impressed with both dishes. While we were waiting for our food, the server brought out small complimentary bowls of soup. I don't know what the name is, but it is vaguely similar to a chicken noodle soup with a few chickpeas in it. Also very delicious. The portions were very large and we were stuffed before we could finish everything. All in all, I was really impressed with the food and the customer service was great too. We definitely plan on going back to try some of the other dishes, there were a few kinds of kabobs on the menu that looked really good. If you go, make sure to bring some cash for a tip, their register didn't have a way to add a tip onto the bill, so we tipped him in cash. read more

The Pulau is a rice and meat dish with lovely savory and sweet flavors. The raised floor private booths add a note of Afghan food culture. I had to write a review after seeing the other one from today. A friend and I went to Emran restaurant yesterday and had an amazing time. We ordered the Bolani, a bread filled with potatoes and spices, the koobideh kabob with rice, and the manto dumplings, plus a large pot of tea and our total was $62. The dishes were very generous; two of us had a filling meal over a luxurious hour and a half, with plenty to take home to family and still make a lunch the next day. Each dish was freshly made and delicious. The flavors remind me of Indian food a bit, but were still unique and new to me. The employee working there when we were there was wonderful. We chatted, he answered all of our questions and made suggestions based on what we said we liked. He was very personable and always attentive to our needs without pressuring us to move on. The seating is really cool; there are your usual style tables, but also a few "booths" that are raised platforms covered in lovely rugs and pillows. We sat there and were able to lounge while we ate in a way you don't usually get to at a restaurant. The attached market is neat too. They have afghani cookies for sale, which we can't wait to try, plus a selection of teas and other international ingredients that can be hard to find around here. We will absolutely be going back and eating here in the future. I highly recommend the experience. Also, there are like 10 "not recommended" reviews that echo my experience and speak about specific menu items and experiences there. Don't know why Yelp is doing that. But I happened to pass Emran Restaurant (Afghan Food) on Lakeside in downtown CDA on my way home last night, and gave it a try. It was DELICIOUS! If you like kabob, rice or bread, and lots of onion, garlic, saffron, you will love it too! They have a lamb/beef blend kabob that is amazing, and the chicken kabob is delicious, too! I figured I need to share, because this is not the normal type of restaurant we have in town, and most people I know wouldn't think to try it... We went last night to Emran in Coeur d'Alene In all honesty we thought TeKara (previous restaurant in same site) had reopened and we saw the new name sign at the last minute as we entered. We decided to give it a try as we enjoy new food and new restaurants. It was Sunday after 8pm and they did informed us that a lot of dishes were sold out by then. We tried the lamb kebab (Tikki) and the eggplant dish, both were really delicious. We also had the meatballs with rice, which my picky eater daughter liked. The food we ate tasted freshly made, and the sauces were good complement to the dishes and were flavorful albeit not too spicy. The service was good albeit the restaurant lacks ambiance at this point, which hopefully they will build over time. We will absolutely go again read more
