I have been to several places that offer acai bowls, and Main Squeeze in Alameda does a great job!…read more Of course, the place could use more seating, but I'm okay with taking my bowl to-go. I was there on a warm Sunday, just to try their acai bowls. There's four acai bowls on the menu board, so I asked the gentleman behind the counter....."which is the best acai bowl?" With confidence, he said...."the Oasis Bowl." He likes the Oasis Bowl because it features seasonal fruit. That means the recipe and taste experience can change with the seasons. When I was there, the seasonal fruit was pineapple. This place makes a good acai bowl. For $13.00, it's not overflowing with fruit toppings. Instead, it's packed with fresh fruit, crispy granola, chia seeds, honey and coconut flakes on top of a acai base. It's definitely a meal, not a fruit bowl snack. The interior is very clean. It has a small outdoor patio. According to signage, there's no indoor seating. Main Squeeze is located near the Park Street Downtown. It's walking distance from the Alameda Theatre, public parking lot, and Alameda High School.

Overview: nostalgic, my favorite boba place that offers mini boba!, delicious and fresh food…read more/snacks too ---- I used to come here all the time back in high school when it was located across the street in front of the bus stop next to the martial art place. I'm so glad that they are still open and running. They have happy hour from 6-8pm with discounted drinks and food which is great for the high schoolers in the area and to just hang out there too! I LOVE mini boba, so much more than the regular sized boba balls and T4 is one of the only places I know that still have the option to add it. I got my favorite Wintermelon Milk Tea for $6.35 ($5.75 for reg size + $0.60 for mini boba topping) and it was just like I remembered it. Sweet, creamy, chewy, and refreshing. I also got the Popcorn Chicken $7.75 which they offer sauces like ranch and sweet chili (there are more options but I forgot). It came out piping hot and the chicken was still tender and juicy, also had crispy basil on top. The girls working were so sweet too! You can either order directly from them or through their small kiosk iPad on their counter. There's plenty of seating but parking is always an issue. We had just come from playing at SubPar Mini Golf so we left our car over there and just walked a few minutes. ---- Overall: a classic boba institution that I'm so happy still operates, fresh food and drinks that tastes the same as I've had them years ago! I can't wait to be back when I'm visiting Alameda again!

When I came back to them a couple years later, the price point had gone up & I was priced out.) The portion sizes were large. I think it was like $12-13/meal. 99% of the dishes were delicious. I was REALLY pleasantly surprised at the flavor & taste. I expected gentrified dishes. It was good! I was also specifically looking for meal delivery that generated less waste. Planter table delivered that. I got cool enough with my driver (and tipped well!) that he brought me a little thank you plant. I loved that I had the same driver each time. It was just a really pleasant experience overall. Nothing bad to say.

They have family style option to get a bigger portion for those who have a family, or for me, to bring to a pot luck. They also have individual desserts and full size pies/cakes. Seriously - they have everything. They no longer offer wine for those who care. There are some additional pick up options, too, but I stick with Jack London Square on Wednesdays from 11:30-2:00. They had the audacity to want to charge more for extra curry when it was inadequate quantity to begin with. I doubt if they have sat down and eaten the food themselves to find out if the ratio of rice to curry was adequate. The katsu was dry and had next to no flavor. The tables were dirty and unwiped. I guess they expect customers to wipe tables since there were Clorox wipes at every table. Maybe I am spoilt by food and service standards in Japan.
