When I came back to them a couple years later, the price point had gone up & I was priced out.) The portion sizes were large. I think it was like $12-13/meal. 99% of the dishes were delicious. I was REALLY pleasantly surprised at the flavor & taste. I expected gentrified dishes. It was good! I was also specifically looking for meal delivery that generated less waste. Planter table delivered that. I got cool enough with my driver (and tipped well!) that he brought me a little thank you plant. I loved that I had the same driver each time. I resubscribed in April after a break during which I went back to pretending I might cook. I get about 6-8 meals per week plus lots of extras. I am not vegan but this hits the spot and is the best meal service I have found. The food is still amazing and I'm happy to see the meal options have expanded, there's seasonal produce options and Acme bread, and now they post calorie information. They have family style option to get a bigger portion for those who have a family, or for me, to bring to a pot luck. They also have individual desserts and full size pies/cakes. It's wonderful to have creative, flavorful and convenient vegan meals delivered in reusable glass containers! That being said, Planted Table's price point is quite high given the inconsistent serving sizes and at times, quality. While items like the mushroom stroganoff are delicious and generous, I've felt disappointed by others. One of the rice dishes was $18, yet it was the size of a side dish! An $18 salad was mainly lettuce. Their barbecue "ribs" are yummy, yet consisted of 3 thin slices. A raw veg "platter" looked like a nice spread, yet only got you dry vegetables and dressing for $15. I've been using Planted Table meal delivery's ala carte menu option for over 6 months now and I really love it! They offer great menu variety and you can tailor the amount of food easily to fit your needs for that week (or you can skip weeks anytime). Their food is yummy, organic and locally sourced. And they provide reusable containers (which you return the following week) so it's great for the environment too. This week I ordered a vegan Thanksgiving feast for one off their holiday menu, and every item was delicious (!) with plenty of leftovers. I am a breast cancer survivor, and it's been a long journey. Just as I thought I was finished with everything, I discovered I had to get two more surgeries. One of the surgeries was major and required three months for recovery. Rather than ask my friends to organize a meal train or use food delivery services, I asked my network to buy gift cards to Planted Table instead. I was fortunate that my network was so generous. I was much happier and healthier with Planted Table than a meal train, where your friends might cook and bring you meals with love, but they also bring you things that you don't want to eat or aren't necessarily healthy for you - because they are super busy with their families or jobs. I chose a five-meal plan from a menu that changed each week, and their choices were all vegetarian. I loved the food. They put a lot of thought into their menu, which was way better for me than ordering from out each night. There is just one delivery pickup for a week's worth of meals, so you don't have to waste a lot of extra money on individual delivery fees and tips - which adds up in Oakland when you order delivery direct from restaurants on individual meals. With Planted Table, you also don't end up with a ton of Styrofoam or useless plastic containers. Their food comes in quality glass containers and a big delivery bag that you return to them every week. Their customer service is outstanding. They were always able to email or text me if I had questions. They even text you reminders about pick-up times. Planted Table is a fantastic way to eat healthier without killing the environment. WOW. Planted Table effectively feeds me now. It is on the higher end of my food budget, but completely worth it. The food is SO GOOD. I look forward to my meals. Portions are well sized, I usually get a couple meals out of each. The flavors are #100. I absolutely can't make food this good. Ingredients are high quality. The nutritional balance is well done and makes eating vegan easy. I really wanted to reduce waste, and felt I was drowning in plastic with services like GreenChef and Sunbasket, having worked in waste management before it really bothered me. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! Partially inedible and VERY VERY expensive. Other reviews must be paid and/or fake. I ordered a Thanksgiving meal for 1 for $80. Yup, $80 and misread the description ... I thought it was for 6-8 people. The "container fee" + "delivery fee" and tip I paid $167 for 1 vegan meal. They just said "container fee" and at checkout I thought there was a glitch and I didn't pay but they charged $167 for a single vegan meal!!!! Completely misrepresented the price. The sneaky charges, inaccurate representation and crappy food. What a scam. Thank goodness only 1 vegan at our Thanksgiving. The seitan was inedible. Are you kidding?! I am livid... for that price it should be delicious. They also skimped on the gravy, which apparently was good but it was maybe 1/8th a cup? I saw there was a charge and believed it was fraudulent but now I see they say there's a charge for the containers but they don't say how much. The containers seem like something cheap from overseas- prob worth $5 if that. The directions say to insert the container into the oven. The tops were plastic. Normally I would never insert something like that but an $80 meal they must know what they're doing and it must be so some special kind of top. Nope - it melted. My family and I have been using PT for over a year. It's been amazing. They do their best in offering a variety of foods, so things don't get boring. I love love love their lasagnas, chocolate mousse, fresh fruit bowls, burgers and BBQ ranch salad. Their bagel and lox (made with carrots) is also so satisfying. It's great to see an all vegan food delivery service. If your definition of healthy food is salads for every meal, then you'll definitely find Planted Table overwhelming. But if you, like me, are looking for a way to cut down on preparing food and the inevitable malaise that ends up with ordering take out, there is literally no service I've ever used that is better. While some portions are sized for one person (e.g., the sandwiches, a quiche + roasted veggies meal I had recently, lighter soups, DIY tacos), most meals are easily sized for 1.5 (e.g., the salads, lighter pasta dishes, Thai curry, plaintains), and some are definitely 2 (e.g., the chili, the hearty pasta dishes). Most importantly, the meals are flavorful and filling so you end up actually eating them, instead of letting them rot in your fridge and throwing them away. I can count on one hand the number of dishes that I've disliked/not finished, and now I know what to avoid (for me, anything with rice noodles). Two last things: first off, the use of reusable containers (and reusable ice packs!) is phenomenal. I've never seen another service so focused on eliminating waste. Secondly, the communication and customer service is top notch--I don't know how many people staff the email and phone number/texts, but whenever I have any issue (need a last minute change to a delivery, question on an ingredient, late-night pick up, off schedule container drop off) they always reply what feels like instantly. OKAY last thing--they also take breaks to give their staff time off! What more can you ask for? I finally found a meal delivery service that works! We have tried out so many meal delivery services that cater to mom dad and two small children who are pescatarians. These vegan dishes are so good that you won't even think it's vegan. The portion is really good where you actually will end up full compared to other brands. Note: I have only done one week, but all four meals we ate were DELICIOUS! Shout out to the enchiladas. One reason why we chose Planted Table is because it is local and has the option for glass containers. We were tired of getting boxes, plastic bags, paper bags for other competitors. The fact that we can keep dropping off our bag when we pick up our next weeks worth of food is a plus. When trying other brands like Blue apron and Hello fresh, we felt like we kept getting the same stuff each week with a varying sauce. I really, really do not understand all these reviews raving about this 'heathy' meal delivery service. Some of the food is greasier than the greasiest restaurant meal (attached pic for angel hair pesto). We tried this service intermittently for a number of weeks and were disappointed that it wasn't healthy at all, as claimed. The first time we ordered a bunch of tamales and burritos to freeze, and the tamales are super oily, the burritos have minimal filling and are wrapped in a way that the large refined flour wrap makes up most of it. We did like the burgers we had this week but again came with HUGE amounts of compound butter on corn, dripping-in-oil sweet potato. The roasted/grilled vegetables sent with main dishes are a bit too charred for our taste, and this last point may not be a big deal for most, but some of food is made to look/taste a lot like meat, and we aren't looking for meat substitutes, so wasn't enjoyable at all. 2 stars for reusable containers. read more

In the photo they included for the "turkey, (attached image directly from their website) you can see it looks almost like the animal-based version. I was so excited to share this with my omnivore family members I even sent my cousin the picture, because I think the more it reminds them of the animal-based version the better chance they will eat it and tell other people about it. I'm not a fan of tofu, so I usually just remove those pieces from my meal, but there is still enough substance to fill me up. The salads are the BEST!!!!! Besides having a ton of toppings and the dressings are super tasty, they are HUGE! I noticed I could feed my husband me and with the salad and one of the dishes. We are not big eaters so some nights we would even split one of the single meals and both be full. After a while, I kinda of felt that a lot of the meals were tasting the same, but it didn't bother me. I am far from a foodie and I only eat because we have to survive! ;o) BUT.....then they released their kids meal plan and now I'm obsessed again! As mostly vegan, working parents of small children, finding the time and motivation to prepare the kind of food we want to eat has been next to impossible. I liked what I read from the Chef's weekly page, so I decided to give it a try and I'm so happy I did! The food is deliciously brilliant! Sadly, I had to cancel because we will be relocating to NY very soon. I wish I could just move them to NY with me! :) If you are looking for the most wonderful food you'll ever enjoy, then you need to get on a delivery plan immediately. If you're really lucky, you'll get sweet Mauricio as your delivery driver. This young adult actually got out of his car to shake my hand to introduce himself to me. This was after he had placed my bag at the front door and was about to drive off. That act alone showed me the ethics and customer service of the company. A little bit about me, so you know where I'm coming from.. though I'm not vegan, I've been wanting to incorporate a more plant-based diet. I found Planted Table through Yelp and have been trying it out for about a month. I usually eat a little of this and that for my meals, meaning I don't actually eat each meal as a meal, if that makes any sense. As someone else touched on, the variability of the meals, in terms of proportions of starches, roots, greens, and protein can be skewed. I find that mixing things gives me a better balance, so I'm not overloaded on potatoes or beans for an entire meal. Pros: 1. For the most part, the food tastes really good. A shout out to the salads!- they are light, bright, flavorful, and joyful. They usually incorporate some some nuts, fruit, and the dressings are quite tasty. 2. Good customer service. They get back to you about any questions/comments, usually within a few hours. I had a few minor issues about the food and delivery, and they were responsive and apologetic. 3. Nice use of spices, they present a worldly and well-rounded POV of the food. 4. Convenient. They deliver when say they are going to deliver, and though I haven't met any of the drivers, they seem nice when I've spoken to them. 5. Responsible. They re-use glass containers, delivery bags, and seem to be espouse a certain mindset and integrity. Areas of improvement: 1. Consistency. I know that every dish can't be creative or inspired, and I don't need that (I've been using another food delivery service for the last 2.5 years, so I'm not one who gets tired of things easily), but the first week, I was like, "Wow, this is delicious, compliments to the chef. Super impressive. I'm definitely going to be switching to this for a while." This past week, I'm like, "Hmm, this is disappointing. Like, please tell the chef I want my money back." The majority of the dishes were heavy and left me feeling sluggish and bloated. I'm really hoping it was an off week, since there's so much about this company that I like and admire. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will incorporate more green stuff in the meals next week. 2. Lack of ability to give feedback about individual meals. From the outside, they appear to be a small, successful, and growing company. Maybe they are still ramping and building up, that there's so much activity going on behind the scenes, that they haven't had a chance to incorporate this yet. Any business needs honest feedback. Other have mentioned this, so please take it in. Many of your meals have a heavy hand in salt. 3. Website. They recently revamped their website, and the main page is improved. The client and ordering pages are adequate for its purposes, though a bit clunky and not the most elegantly laid out. Hopefully, they'll get around to updating the client portal and making it more intuitive and user-friendly soon. If you're thinking about trying it out, I'd say give it a whirl. Pretty much everything I had I like. Occasionally, there will be a meal that I don't like as much, but so far nothing bad. - Reusable containers. This is one of the major reasons I picked planted table. I did not want to end up with a thousand plastic containers. Things I hope can be improved: - Lack of protein. I feel like a lot of the meals consist of carbs. Planted table meals are definitely not meant for athletes. - Varied portion sizes. I dunno, maybe related to the lack of protein but I'm still hungry after a meal. Some meals are bigger than others. I had to split the tamale pie into two meals. The loaded baked potato though, it's just that: one potato and a like three pieces of steamed broccoli. Talk about boring. - No macro counts. If you're on a strict diet or watching your macros, don't do planted table. Overall, I'm happy with my meals. They help me eat healthier. Everything from Planted Table is so fresh and delicious. Our favorite dishes has been Thai Fried Rice, Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms, Tamales.......Berries Cakes in a jar are all divine . Our family absolutely loves Planted Table. The food and service is AMAZING! They are truly making the world a better place.

It's only my second week using Planted Table but I am beyond impressed with both their customer service and their quality and selection of foods. The meals have all been delicious and have been substantial. They are able to deliver to my workplace in a timely manner and respond to my questions over text promptly. The biggest bonus that drew me to them in addition to everything that I mentioned above, has been their ability to accommodate a gluten and soy free diet! They are definitely worth the premium price. read more

We've now had 4 deliveries over a 2-month period. Although I do still highly recommend Planted Table, I had to take down a star because of my repeated problem with their sodium content. Almost without fail, I have found all their soups to be overly salty. Not a huge problem there because I can just add some water to drown it out and lemon juice for balance. But their tofu and tempeh is always over-marinated in soy sauce too. Those are just unbearable for me to eat. My husband agrees about the saltiness, though he can still eat through it, so I end up giving him more of the meals. The fact that I'm finding some of these meals super salty week after week does concern me regarding my sodium intake. I get that vegetable-based food tends to be more bland compared to meat-based meals, but I don't think over-salting is the answer. I would rather have the freedom to add more salt on my own if I find something too bland. read more
