Great Italian food.. rare to find a good pizza joint offering gluten free crust! Definitely will be back for the pizza

Food was ok, we ordered the cozze (mussels), wild boar pappardelle and lamb shank. Only the cozze was good, the other 2 items were not good at all. My lamb shank had leeks and they did not wash it very well, multiple times I found tiny rocks in it. Our server was nice, hence the 3 stars. read more

Delicious food and excellent service! We chose the Bruschetta (2 pieces of 3 different kinds) as an appetizer and loved it. Our entrees were the Pappardelle which my husband loved and the Halibut which I thought was superb. We were waited on personally by the owner Tore. This was our first visit but it won't be our last! read more

It was our first time here but now I'm wondering how we missed this neighborhood gem? I'll assume it's the physical location. Started off with the pulpo which was honestly the best I'd ever eaten. We also ordered a beautiful and delicious charcuterie board. The waitress was amazing and anticipated our needs before we had to ask. Decided we needed to try the pizza because of the large pizza oven in the front. It was a great idea. We ordered the one covered in meats and it was to die for plus we got to take some home. Tiramisu for dessert was a great ending to wonderful meal. read more

Amazing experience...the Margherita Pizza is to die for-my family says the best they have ever had...i have been back twice...and making my third trip with a friend...and I will bring as many friends and family here...because of covid we cant go to Italy- this is the next best thing....The owner Tore is very friendly and always present to greet guests...Outstanding food, service, couldnt ask for more....thank you Tore to you and your staff for choosing Oceanside- Ill see you at Mangia soon.... read more

5 stars plus! This is how good food should taste like. Fresh ingredients with well balanced flavor. Not too oily not trying to put cheese on everything. Awesome job Tore! We can't wait to bring more friends back there. read more

Responding to the owner. No one in our party had ever been to this restaurant. I did have a $40 Groupon, which was purchased for $32. There were 3 of us and I definitely would have spent well over that. Pastas are $17-$25 and Mains are $25-$39. Basically it was an $8 discount. I have found some of my favorite restaurants and businesses by using a Groupon the first time I visited them. The Groupon doesn't say not valid with other discounts or promotions. It only says not valid with Happy Hour. It was 7:30pm. That's not the reason for poor review. The poor review was for the way we were treated. The mark up on the wines were very high. Six times on some bottles. We were discussing this when the waitress offered us 50%. She said it was 50% off wine night. My friend said she'd buy a bottle, in that case. I told the server that I had a Groupon we would like to use towards the meal and at first she said we could not use it with the wine discount because she couldn't have two discounts on same check. My friend said she was buying the wine so would be a separate check so the server came back with the bottle, opened and poured it. We had already started to drink when she came back to take our food order. As we were discussing the menu with her, the manager/owner came and told us that he had to make money and that we could not use the Groupon and receive 50% off the wine. He was very rude which made no sense, especially considering we were one of only two tables that were seated at the restaurant. I had already purchased the Groupon so I wanted to use it, naturally, and they had already sold us the wine at 50%, knowing we had the Groupon. We thought about it for a minute and decided to leave because he was so rude to us. He didn't need to be rude. We could have had a conversation. He literally lost customers, and referrals over $8. read more

Food and service was good . The place is cute. The thing I don't think is right is to charge for bread. It is a cute place but not a fancy place where you charge for bread. It seriously should be complementary. The feast is good. read more

I can't believe we didn't come here sooner. I first discovered this restaurant because T-Mobile Tuesday had a promotion for Restaurants.com. I chose the Mangia e Bevi Certificate & I'm so glad I did! Our food was AMAZING! My mother absolutely raved about the meatballs. They were cooked to perfection! My mussels in the white wine sauce absolutely are my new favorite dish! The staff members were very kind and speedy. I had to wait I think 2 minutes to pick up my food. We will be coming here for lunch more often! read more

Small, but mighty! Rotating seasonal entrees never fail to impress. Pasta cooked perfectly, pizza has the right balance of toppings, with crispy blistered edges from the wood fired oven. Outside patio is great during nice weather, because the interior tables feel a little cramped along the long and narrow passageway. read more

Finally an authentic Italian restaurant in Oceanside. Fantastic food, drink, and atmosphere. The rigatoni with eggplant, the sausage pizza, the specialty dishes, and more...cibo delizioso! This family owns another restaurant - Rustico - in Temecula/Murrieta that is one of my all-time favorites. For those that have been there then you know what I'm talking about and for those that haven't then it's time to check it out. The recipes for both restaurants come direct from Italy to here. I actually benchmarked their dishes vs dishes in Venice, Milan, Florence, Torricella, and Rome. They are spot on!!! Cant wait for my next meal from Mangia e Bevi (and Rustico). read more

Unless you come on Yelp, live in the area (even then) or have heard through the grapevine how great this place is, you might not know its here. But let me tell you- YOU ARE MISSING OUT! Our server Destiny was just the best. She made great recommendations as she didn't shy away from giving her opinion which I truly appreciated having worked in the industry. Our appetizer was delicious, the wine was great and the surrounding area was quiet and calm. Perfect for a date night! This was hands down the best gnocchi I have ever had. You can tell it's all fresh, scratch ingredients and is made with love. My Fiancé loves pepperoni pizza and this certainly did not disappoint. You can see they make all their pizzas to order and it's fresh right when you walk in. Dessert was delish as well. Truly no bad words to say. This is how you do fresh Italian. Cheers to you guys for being another hidden gem close to home. We will definitely be back. read more

We went to Mangia e Bevi Wednesday, 5/12/2021, for an early dinner. I had cod and my friend had a pizza and a bowl of cod soup. Her soup came first and it was soy sauce black and tasted like soy sauce. She didn't find any fish in her soup. The pizza tasted like something you would get at Domino's. My cod dinner was more than disappointing. It was covered in pork fat and came with lots of pork cubes around the cod on the plate. The potatoes and asparagus were swimming in the pork fat. Disgusting. Half-way through our dinner, we both decided we would never come back. read more

Just wow. Delicious Italian food. We have gotten take out from here a couple times and everything was so good. The pappardelle and tortellini pasta was phenomenal. Their pizzas are also terrific! Fresh ingredients and a nice crust. I don't think you could go wrong here. The food is the best Italian I've had in the area. read more

I really wanted this place to be great like the other reviews have stated, but unfortunately that was not my experience tonight. Food: My wife and I ordered the Bruschettini and Burrata as appetizers. The burrata was definitely the highlight of the evening. Flavorful pomodoro, crispy fried burrata, but unfortunately it came to the table cold. Our Bruschettini was a mixed bag. The pomodoro was great, the burrata was extremely salty, and our fig jam with pear was overly sweet. The latter of the 3 really did not seem to match the plate. Our server asked how the plates were and I praised everything but the salty burrata Bruschettini. She promised she would relay that to the kitchen. For mains we had the Short Rib and the Cacio e Pepe. Short Rib was cooked great. Super tender with a satisfying bite to it. However, the sauce that was over it was again EXTREMELY salty. My wife's Cacio e Pepe was a total disaster. Gummy overcooked pasta, flavorless sauce, and overall underwhelming. It's the first time I've ever had something both bland and extremely salty. In an effort to salvage the evening we ordered a tiramisu. Palatable, but nothing to write home about. Service: The service was good, for the most part. I wish our water was refilled sooner as we didn't get topped off until the end of our meal. Granted, we were guzzling water down with the amount of salt in all the food. I also have to mention something. Disclaimer: This is just an opinion and I have no proof of this. Is it because we mentioned the Bruschettini appetizer was salty that the chef decided to stick it to us with the amount of salt in our dishes? Perhaps... Decor: It's a 2 star restaurant trying to pose as a 5 star. Cheap, wobbling diner tables you find at the 24hr Mexican food place down the block. The silverware and plates were something you find at a Hometown Buffet food trough. And the upholstery on the booths was so slick my wife kept slipping down the front. Final Thoughts: Give it a try if it's your only option. There are so many other places open for great Italian food in north county. 1.5 stars out of 5 and only because of the friendly staff. tl;dr - Expensive Italian food disguising itself as 5 star cuisine when in reality it's just not. We will not be back. read more

I hate to give this review but from walking into the restaurant to the end of the meal was a poor experience! Maybe we caught them on bad day but no I don't think so. It was warm today and we decided to sit inside but all the doors were open and we asked if the AC was on and it wasn't but we chose to sit inside anyways because how hot it was. Restaurant was empty and the hostess/waitress gave us a choice where to sit. We decided we would sit under a ceiling fan, it very small inside so not too many choices. They had a kitchen worker sitting out in the dining room making ravioli! Not the best pace to be but she was doing he job. We st down the hostess comes up to are our order, she was pleasant but had no idea about te menu and what they served. That's the manager/ownes fault or not training there sever. She had no I idea that pork and meat were the same thing. We were charged incorrectly 2 times and she never asked if we would like a drink or dessert ! Food was bland and mine had very little meat in it! It had fat pieces in it! It tasted like a bowl of fat & butter. We asked the seve for a red sauce to dip our brad in and te manager cme out andsidtey didn't have it but could make the cook make some and we said no that was OK but could w get balsamic vinegar & oil and he said it already have olive oil on it but the bread was very dry, and not he didn't bring anything out for us. BTW the bread is extra. Can't say anything good about this place! Don't waste your money & time here. Bad service, small portions, bad food, overpriced. read more

Easily my favorite Italian restaurant ever! I went here with son who was visiting from Italy. We started with the Tre Bruschetti appetizer which was great! 3 different types and each very nicely done. For dinner, I had the saltimbocca and he had pappardelle. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the fresh pasta in the pappardelle dish was amazing. We finished our meal with the tiramisu which was boozey and delish. I will definitely add this to my "must eat" restaurants and will return here again to try more dishes from the menu. Bravo!! read more

The Cacio e pepe were obviously the same noodles as those made in the Carbonara. A brown sauce in lieu of butter and parm-reg. The Carbonara was salty and flavorless plus had no quail egg. The whole point of Carbonara is the meat and the egg. My husband said the Tortoloni was salty and lacking in flavor. The Carciofi was pretty good but it is Artichoke and simple. We got the TiraMisu and it was a portion of two bites for a price of $10 but the flavor very good. I was so excited to try this restaurant because the pictures are delectable looking. Not sure about other reviews, and I do not typically leave negative anything to post, but for nearly $100 of food and it being flavorless and disappointing I decided I should. Sorry this is a no mangia zone. read more

So it's been a while since I've had Italian food. When I do decide to have Italian I don't go to your local olive garden. I rather support my local business. I'm so happy I found this place and wish I could have found it sooner. I had the calamari and the pappardelle. The pasta was fresh and the wild board sauce was perfect. The small portion is perfect for the quality of the price your paying. Quality over quantity is what I look for. Unlike other restaurants they give you so much food you have left over for lunch and dinner the next day. I downed my and feel satisfied. Thank you so much. Ignore those 1 star reviews they are the worst type of people out who don't know what is good if it slapped them in the face. read more

We have been here a number of times and always enjoyed the food and service. Previous review on Yelp was 4-5 star for dinner. This time we went to the monthly wine dinner held the third Wednesday of the month and which we have attend before. The featured Winery was J Lohr. They had an outstanding menu that was paired with some very good wines. Quail egg on smoked salmon Benedict for opener. Lobster Risotto and then a Rib-eye steak. Last but not least an Apricot Tort. The food was excellent in taste and presentation. The delivery of the food was very slow and unfortunately the portions were very small. I am not a big person, so its not often I finish a four course meal and still feel hungry but I did as did several others at my table. When your paying $70 a person for the dinner and wine, you expect at least one glass of wine to be poured with each meal course. This held true for the Benedict where we got a full glass of Chardonnay and more was available if you wanted it. With the Risotto we got a 3 oz. pour at best and then had to practically beg to get a little more of the Paso Red Blend that was being poured. Since the food came out so slow, you had plenty of time to enjoy your wine, except whoops they were not pouring you any more. With the Rib-Eye course we got little more than a tasting pour. When we asked for a some more of this very good Cabernet Sauvignon , we were told no, this was a $160 bottle of wine and everyone was just going to get a taste. We didn't even have enough to consume wine with all of our steak. The Tort came with a Late Harvest Riesling which they seemed to have plenty of being our least favorite wine, because we were poured a full glass and they said there was more if you wanted it. After the meal we spoke with one of the owners to express our disappointment with the way the wine was served and slowness of food delivery, especially the limited quantities poured with the prime entrees. He expressed that since the Cabernet was so expensive, to keep costs down for the event they limited the amount of the wine being poured. It would have been better to have poured less costly, good value wines, which I'm sure J Lohr has many of, then try to skimp on the pours that were given and have us come away unhappy. None of the six people at our table liked how this event went because of the slowness of meal delivery and wine rationing. We all had come to previous wine dinners. Four of us expressed we would likely skip future wine dinners for now. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside as it's a small place in a strip mall. However, the food and the service were excellent. Service was good, waitress knowledgeable able the menu and pizza size. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. We had the Kale and Tempura fried squash flowers. It was more than adequate to share. We also ordered white pizza with mushroom and prosciutto . Loved the paper thin crust. For dessert we also shared the tiramisu. That was a disaster as I found two tiny bits of clear plastic in it. First time here and was a little disappointed. Was looking forward a good pizza and salad with a glass of wine with friends. Unfortunately there wasn't a classic Caesar salad on the menu but you could order more exotic salads like octopus . (Not my taste) pizza was excellent! I wanted wine but a glass cost $14+. Wished they had a house Chianti or similar at a lesser price. Dessert was yummy but it was served in a glass which made it nearly impossible to share. S O Y U M M Y ! ! ! This is not your average Italian restaurant! Everything we ate here was delicious. If you are vegetarian, there tons of options. Service was great. Owners Torre and Anne were onsite to make the experience top notch. The wine selection is spectacular. Sooo good! My daughter and I stopped by here on a whim when I saw that they had bucatini with guanciale. I've only ever had this dish with pancetta or bacon, so I was very excited to try the authentic version. Super delicious. Pasta was al dente, well seasoned and succulent. My daughter wanted a Shirley temple, which they didn't "officially" have on the menu, but the chef worked it out with some concentrated cherry juice that they had on hand. She also wanted pizza, so we ordered the cup and char. It was really good. I'm kind of a crust snob, and this one didn't disappoint. I ordered the octopus as well, and it was very nice. I'm a big octopus fan, so I have had my fair share of over cooked and rubbery polpo. This one was tender and juicy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and I'm really looking forward to coming back and trying some other items. read more
